The check-in employee, Gabriel, was challenged to give proper directions to their car in one of the smallest airports ever. The lot is dark and cold and just to say "go out the door and turn left. Your car is in spot #7" is not good enough. How about "the car is in the furthest, darkest, corner of the lot on the left"? Instead budget customers are wandering aimlessly in the dark and cold trying to find space #'s which you couldn't really see without lights (i.e. Hertz has bright lights and you can't miss their signage). Upon drop off there were no employees prior to my flight so I asked Hertz and they said the budget staff went home for the day. The instructions were to fill out a form and put the keys and form in a box. This required trudging back out to the car with luggage and my dog to get the license plate and mileage info. Somehow I knew they would overcharge me and sure enough they did. I had made the effort to fill up the fuel tank at the Chevron about a mile or 2 down the street (closest gas station on my GPS). However, I just received the bill and the agent who eventually showed up long after I was gone, Lenora, had the nerve to charge me for fuel. Of course when you call them they rarely are there to answer so I had to spend a bunch of time on hold with Budget central customer service who eventually credited me back.

It's our first morning here in Walla Walla on a weekend getaway. Upon going out to the car we discover that the key fob doesn't work to open any of the doors. We suspect that the battery must be dead. And if this isn't aggravating enough we soon discover that the hidden key inside the fob doesn't open the door at all. So now we call Budget Car Rental customer service, or should I call it disservice? After giving and receiving the usually verification information and explaining the situation I was informed that I had not purchased and Roadside assistance package, non was offered upon renting the car, and that the fee to come unlock the door and jumpstart the car would be $120 and to add insult to injury, there was going to be a 4 to 6 hour wait in order to receive the needed service. That's complete BULLSHIT!!! We have a getaway vacation to enjoy. Enter AAA, and Thank God for AAA. Free roadside service to their members and they'll have the issue fixed and we'll be on our way in less than an hour. The question that remains is whether or not Budget is going to discount the cost of this rental because of giving us a car with a faulty battery which stranded us and potentially, if not for AAA, detained us from any use of the vehicle, or are they going to stick us with the full price. If that is the case there will be a follow-up review that will be only 1-star and the review will be even nastier.

I spoke to a supervisor and she advised me that "it is not refundable for a prepaid car" The car itself was very dirty and looked like it had been parked in an abandoned lot for months. The night before they called me AFTER hours and left me a voicemail saying they wouldn't have a car ready until 11:00-12:00. I called back immediately and since it was after hours I got an automated message. We arrived at 11:00. The communication was awful. We had a few things we could have done in the meantime if it wasn't ready. They kept saying it'll be just a bit longer. We left the store at 2:20! Then had to run our few errands. So our planned trip of 8am - 9am ended up putting us so behind schedule we missed an important event scheduled for that day.

Now we are in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, having never been there and STRANDED. Thank goodness for Thrify Car Rental Asst Manager, he found a Corporate rental that needed to go to Seattle - arranged for us to drive it to our destination. Enterprise needs to grow some balls and do the right thing.
