Was trying to extend my car rental but they couldn't find me in the system. This location does not use updated credit card terminal. They still need to swipe your card which caused my card to decline 3 times. Very poor management when the manager told me to email him in case I need to extend my vehicle. He still couldn't extend it on his end saying because of the whole fraud situation. They were all about money and not to care about the customer's well being. Now I am wondering what's gonna happen when not extending my vehicle. read more

While the staff at the Malden location were very nice, the car they rented to me through an insurance claim was NOT safe! After 10 days the brakes started grinding so I stopped in at the Lynn location not wanting to damage or be blamed for any damage or have the brakes lock up while driving, that said, this was a 2025 yr car... again the staff person very nice, but sent me to get brakes fixed, and then was told it also needed two front tires as they were bald... Why IS IT MY responsibility to have their car fixed on my time??? I will never ever rent a car from them again. They are sending out unsafe cars on the road. Please look at and verify your vehicle before driving off, which one should not have too, but... And forget about trying to speak to a live person on the phone they are so unhelpful. I still have a hold on my account for double than the stated amount and no one is willing to help at so called customer service. They also rent under Dollar, and Thrifty renter beware! Absolutely horrible experience. After getting a flat tire, HERTZ left me stranded on the side of the highway in the rain for over 3 hours despite my numerous calls, and eventually just had to have AAA come and help. Once I returned it safely, they charged me almost a grand for the damaged tire even though I paid for their insurance and everything. I have tried calling about the situation on numerous occasions and have gotten no help whatsoever. read more

Made a reservation online that was confirmed, took an Uber from the airport to the rental place, waited over 30 minutes to speak to someone only for them to tell me there were no cars left to rent even though there seemed to be plenty in the lot outside. This was a huge inconvenience as you can imagine. I ended up walking to my Airbnb almost a mile away with my bags. read more

Terrible customer service I was not greeted upon entry. My rep Ricky was very rude texting on his phone the whole time I was at his desk waiting to pick up my rental car, he spoke across me to his colleague and the customer she had at her desk. He got up without excusing himself to help another customer. He was constantly texting and speaking to others instead of helping me. What should have taken 10 minutes took 30 minutes. These guys are in the busiest location in Massachusetts with a million insurance agencies nearby, travelers and easy location to find on Route 60. The fact that corporate leaves them short handed almost always is really the reason people are pissed off and write bad reviews. If you worked here and were up against it always you wouldn't write a review so negatively. You want to be mad, be mad at Hertz corporate not the people at this location. I recently rented from Hertz as part of the Uber Rental Program. Paying almost 400.00 per week. Half-way through the week I stop at a store, when I go to unlock doors, the remote keychain wouldn't let me back in the vehicle. Hertz roadside assistance forced me to wait beside the vehicle for almost 4 hours in the freezing rain for tow co. The next two days tried getting help on the phone from Maldens pick-up location with no luck. Finally got an email stating " Please make a reservation and make a new contract". LoL.. I've been planning for two months to drive for Uber. It can be extremely lucrative on New Years Eve as a ride share driver and Hertz took that opportunity away from me. read more

The convenient location is the only thing going for this place. They gave me a Kia Soul that definitely had a smoker in it and stunk. There were grease smears on the steering wheel and controls, probably from previous driver eating fast food. Was not clean at all. Not a big fan of them sneaking in the ldw (loss damage waiver). They know my preference but every so often they pull that bs. I only rent for business and my company specifically has a default insurance option with hertz which means i don't need any add'l insurance. It was an extra $24 a day. Unsavory. read more

So I've been to this place 2 times. One was 2 years ago, I got a rental and exactly same situation happened!!!!! I got a really good car and the people there are friendly. When we walk outside to take a look at the car if there are damage like scratches around the car or not, the guy who takes me out was busy talking to us like he doesn't want us to Check the car. Then I walk around the car and saw scratches. So I told him. Then he wrote it down. After that, I look inside and see the Gasoline is a little less than the half tank. So I ask him how is the filling gas back for you guys gonna work if it's less than half like this? He answers "oh yeah so you just have to fill it to where you got it today when you return" I was like okay. The first one was completely fine. This time about 2 months ago. This time exactly the same situations happened but I got charge for the gasoline. I was like when we took the car it's less than half and when we return it. It's half tank. Why do I get charges for it!! This will be the last time I will be visiting that place. From my experience next time I will take pictures of it so I have proofs. read more

I've rented a car at another hertz location and ended up switching to this hertz location because their customer service is great. I have rented twice form this location, April 2019 and May 2019, and both were great rentals! Came in and was greeted with a friendly smile by staff and then handed my keys, could not have been easier to get my car. Jovin and the entire staff was great to deal with. This has been the single worst customer experience of my life. The new employee I worked with (and feel bad for), couldn't even log in to their software for 15+ minutes. While waiting, I was pressured into a Free Upgrade I did not want. I asked about fuel economy (why I wanted a compact, not a Jeep) to which the woman said 'they're comparable' and immediately told her new employee to log in it. Great. The car wasn't ready or clean, which meant I had to wait almost an hour while this was taken care of. I had been on the phone with a local enterprise when my large, unwanted SUV arrived. Turning the car on, warning indicators flashed (including for oil, and washer fluid). The Plate Pass did not work. Whether expired or simply malfunctioning, this pass was not recognized by any E-Z Pass toll. I am now being charged over $40 for tolls which should normally come to no more than $10-15. Poor service, poor vehicle, and overcharged. Save yourself and go somewhere else. read more

Worst customer service experience I have ever had in any industry at Hertz Malden. I have been renting from Hertz for 8 years and spent tens of thousands here. I have had the misfortune of dealing with this location for 2 years and have had enough. They recently rented me a vehicle that was so unsafe to drive I had to pull over and go to the nearest Hertz to get a new car. On paper they marked it as a brand new clean car with 3k miles. In reality the car had over 50k miles with nearly every sensor broken and warning going off on the dashboard. Not to mention the car was rented to me with bags of garbage the smelled in the trunk, a missing hubcap, broke windshield wipers, and a bullet hole in the door. When I returned the vehicle the staff plus the owner were nasty and never even gave me so much as an "I'm sorry" or any sort of appolgy when I explained what happened. This isnt the first time something like this happened. They rented a car to me last year with the wrong keys and we got stuck in the middle of the white mountains. Everytime I rent from here something is wrong. Please don't make the mistake of ever renting from this location in Malden. I know I never will again. read more

We had a great experience renting a car from this Hertz. I never waited, and when a customer entered that did have to wait, the staff greeted them politely and got to them quickly. Our rental was very reasonable, and the paperwork and explanation of things such as tolls was very clear. Would definitely rent again! read more

Do not book with Hertz! I learned my lesson, they completely ruined my day! We rent a car from Hertz for a road trip, I booked the pick up time at 9am, I finally got the car at 10:30am, there were just 3 people in front of me, and they had 3 people worked in the office. In the recipe they claimed that they gave me the car at 9:38am, which is fake. Also they said they gave me a full tank of fuel, which actually only half tank. The worse thing is they gave me a car with a tire air leaking issue, I saw the light when I picked up the car, but I thought it's not a problem because the car given by a professional, after 1.5 hours drive, the tire pressure dropped to 27, and we found out there was a leaking from the side of the tire, which is very dangerous. So we have to drive back without doing anything. I called Hertz customer service, the only thing they said was:"I'm sorry, but we can give you refund, I can give you discount for future rental" NO, HERTZ, I WILL NEVER RENT FROM YOU! read more

Do not rent from Hertz. My daughter rented a car, purchased insurance and the car was stolen. My daughter died the day they charged her account for additional days and fees. My family did research and found out who stole it and gave that info to them. They said they would return the 2088. they charged. They then denied that they would pay it back. Contacted corporate and they said that my daughter gave the car to someone. She is not here to defend herself and they are still refusing to pay back what they stole. read more

Ok, so it's not just me...everyone I talked to have gotten SCAMMED by their Fast-Lane transponder charge! If you have you're own transponder, demand that they take their unit out of the rental car! What they will do is charge you $20+ for some bogus toll charge! I had my own transponder and they told me their version is shielded and it should not register when I pass the toll booth......BS!!! Not only did I use my own transponder to pay my tolls, I was charged $26 b/c they accused me of using their unit! I always rent from Stoneham Ford rental and will never waver from them again (5 star service) My daughter was misled with online special deals that were very confusing, charged more than $100 more than she expected to pay, given a different and much larger car than she expected which in turn meant she had to pay more and the car was NEVER washed from prior user, just plain filthy. This particular location provided excellent customer service to me. Due to an unforeseen car issue, I needed to rent a vehicle for a day. However, I only had my debit card with me. The team at this location was able to rent a vehicle to me and at a lower rate than I had found online. Even better, there is a Mobil station across the street, so you can fill up just before you return the car. I would most certainly rent from this location again. read more

horrendous experience. we booked a 7 passenger car for a funeral (six days in advance). day of funeral, my husband called them 2 hours in advance to make sure car was there. they told him to come . he went, suddenly, they told him the car "had an expired registration" and was unavailable. (there was no 7 passenger car in the lot either, so lie number 1.) the gave him a tiny car that seated four and said they called the Revere hertz branch where they had a bigger car, and he should go there. He drives to Revere (funeral was in an hour) and they had no idea who he was, had received no call from Malden and had no 7 passenger car. my husband was forced to drive home in the tiny car (NO INSPECTION STICKER, NO WINDSHIELD FLUID) for a funeral procession...he comes home with a car smaller than what we already own. We had to call a friend to lend us a large car so our family could process to my dads funeral together. If that wasn't bad enough, when I called both the Revere and Malden offices, not only would they NOT put me through to a manager, despite my asking several times, one hung up on me and one had the audacity to say my husband was being rude. (they are lucky he didn't explode on them considering the circumstances.) Each person I called or talked to at both locations was rude and did absolutely nothing to try and help us in what was a very sad, trying day. I was simply horrified by the treatment of these ignorant chimps. Hertz had better clean house, top to bottom. People expect to be treated like human beings, especially under trying circumstances. I would walk anywhere before I ever again rented from Hertz. I also contacted my credit card company and got the charge removed. Terrible Customer Service. I rented a car which broke down and needed to be towed. Hertz roadside assistance handled my call, I was broken down in MA but the roadside assistance operator was in Oklahoma! after many phone calls and frustration trying to get the operator to listen to where I was located he assured me that they would send a taxi to transport me to Worcester Airport where he assured me there would be a car waiting for me. When I arrived at the airport the Hertz desk was CLOSED, and had been for the whole time that I talked to the roadside assistance operator! There was no car there for me and I ended up having to rent a car from another agency. I have tried over and over to get a refund and to be compensated for the problems caused by Hertz but have gotten nothing but transferred from one department to another several times until they finally told me ....guess what??? the Billing Dept. is CLOSED!!! When does anyone work at this rental agency?? after 8 days I am still waiting to have this issue resolved. read more
