Hertz Bozeman finally got back to my credit card company and told them I owed the money because I chose to return the car an hour early. You read that correctly. Read it again. My credit card company agreed that I didn't own anything and gave me a permanent credit. Did Hertz Bozeman stop there? Nope. They sent me to collections. I filed a complaint with the federal Consumer Finance Protection Bureau (CFPB): https://www.consumerfinance.gov/complaint/ After receiving the complaint, Hertz Bozeman backed off. If you need it, the CFPB complaint process is fairly straight forward. Make sure you provide as much details and documentation as you have.

Waited in line for 2 hours. Only once for 30 minutes was more than one person at the counter. Here's your happy customers. I'll be canceling my gold membership and will never rent from you again.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID AVOID!! The line is 50+ people, no sense of urgency to accommodate customers or make the line move faster. 2+ hour wait. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME and money!!! All the other car rental booths are empty !! Hertz will trap you and will not give you a refund! If you want to feel like an inmate , go to HERTZ BOZEMAN GALLATIN AIRPORT (SUCKS).

Ditto to the review written on 08/12/2023. We arrived arrived around noon, gathered up our luggage, and was astonished at the length of the line to pick up our car reservation at Hertz. At the Bozeman airport, Hertz is merged with two other companies, Dollar and Thrifty, so every single renter with those three companies is in the same line. The line reached all the way past the luggage carousels. There is a shorter line for those with Hertz Gold membership, but BEWARE--you must make your reservation directly with HERTZ. They will not service you if you're a Gold member and made a reservation through a third party. Easy solution--call Hertz while you're in line and they will make you an identical reservation through their system. Using this method, it took us nearly 2 hours to get our reservation. Otherwise, the "regular" line would've taken at least 4. AVOID this location if possible. Customer service representatives were frazzled but good. Felt really bad for them. Clearly their company cares little for their stress.

Unacceptable experience with Budget…read more I was given a car I didn't reserve, and it had obvious pre-existing damage (cracked windshield) that wasn't properly documented. Budget later tried to charge me for that damage. After I disputed it, customer service acknowledged "discrepancies" tied to the Bozeman location and confirmed I would not be charged. Despite that, they charged my credit card anyway. This goes beyond a simple mistake--it shows a serious lack of internal control and accountability. I had to spend additional time fixing a charge that should never have been made in the first place. I will not rent from Budget again. Document everything and watch your bill closely if you do.

This wasn't my worst budget rental pickup experience ever, but not my best either. Will start with…read morethe two staff members working were courteous and working very hard. The drawback is they were the only ones for a line of like 20 people, and given the nature of car rentals each person takes 5-10 mins. I ended up waiting 35-40 mins after a late flight and it set us back from getting on to our two hour drive. There was in fact NO fast break or Avis preferred line, although I saw a sign for one (so having that status didn't help me this time). The car pickup lot was a bit weird too, but had enough signs we were able to get out without much trouble (couldn't find an elevator though? I ended up leaving my mom with the bags and going up via the stairs). Despite this experience I would still rent from Avis/budget again :) but wish the process had been a little faster - again though, this had nothing to do with the actual service. They were doing a good job.
