The drawback is they were the only ones for a line of like 20 people, and given the nature of car rentals each person takes 5-10 mins. I ended up waiting 35-40 mins after a late flight and it set us back from getting on to our two hour drive. There was in fact NO fast break or Avis preferred line, although I saw a sign for one (so having that status didn't help me this time). The car pickup lot was a bit weird too, but had enough signs we were able to get out without much trouble (couldn't find an elevator though? I ended up leaving my mom with the bags and going up via the stairs). Despite this experience I would still rent from Avis/budget again :) but wish the process had been a little faster - again though, this had nothing to do with the actual service. They were doing a good job.

I realized it early the next morning and went to the Budget counter at the airport at 8:30 AM on Monday, June 22. I was told by the person at the counter the she could not help me as she was the only one at the counter. When pressed she gave me a form to fill out and said she would "maybe look for it at 3:00 PM." I almost started to cry - surely they could look up the car I left it in and trace the car. But no. Then the experience really deconstructed as I tried calling the general lost and found of Budget and was directed to their website (no live person) where I was to fill out a form - well there was no forms linked for the state of Montana. So I could not do that. Then I called the general customer service number for Budget and I got an official complaint case number. However, I was told to write Budget and refer to the case number and someone would help me. The person then gave me an email address which was clearly not correct (it ended in .com and had no @ sign). Then when pressed they gave me another email address which had the code of another country on it. Finally I googled where to email - and when emailing got into a circle again where I was told to fill out a form on the website (can't no forms for Montana) OR I could visit the budget counter where I rented the car. Well that sure didn't work. Now thinking no one will look for these and will NEVER work with Budget again.

I asked if it was AWD, and she said, oh it is front wheel drive, it should be fine. (as it is snowing) I asked if there was an AWD drive available, and she said there wasn't one available... it wasn't until I specifically asked if I could go down a class in vehicle to get an AWD. Fortunately there was a small SUV in AWD. It worked out fine; but a bit disappointed that I reserved a larger SUV, but it wasn't available in AWD, so I paid the same for a smaller car...

We followed the instructions on the app for First pick up but apparently the app did not update properly so we sat and waited. Called Avis and they were clueless and could not transfer me or get a message to the Avis counter for us. We were on our way to walk to the Avis counter with large amounts of luggage when the app finally updated to say our car was on its way, so we went back to the pick up spot and waited some more. Our car was not an SUV and our luggage almost did not fit, had luggage on our laps and floorboards. The car was a Mazda and I had to spend 10 days holding the back door open for my daughter each time she got in and out so the car next to us did not get dinged. The back door needs to open into the spot next to it in order for an 80lbs girl could get in or out. Crazy! The car drove awful and we all decided we would never buy a Mazda. Taking the car back was easier and they did meet us at the curb in a timely manner. I was taking out the little trash we had when the gal said that was ok because it was part of the Avis First rental so I stopped. There was sand in the trunk of which I was told that was ok too. Unfortunately for us that was not ok and we were charged $250 for cleaning. Speaking with customer service was very frustrating because the call center was very loud so you are hearing other CS reps talking as well as the "I don't care attitude". We will never be renting from them again as the communication with respect to expectations was the worst and we did not get anything remotely close to an SUV and out another $250.

    avoid this rental if you can…read more when we arrived at Thrifty, we waited over 35 min to get help and we were the second person in line. I get up to the counter, give the gentleman my information, he said he can upgrade us to a car that I had already booked, I let him know that that wasn't necessary as that is what I have already booked. I think signed the contract but noticed i still got charge $60 for an upgrade fee. I told him right then and there that i did not want an upgrade as the car he is trying to upgrade us to is what we already booked, he then said he would give us our original car. in the email i received on 1/3/25 for our rental from 1/5/25-1/8/25 it states that we owe $168 and change at the airport, we also added an additional driver for $39 dollars and then had them fill up our tank on return which was $42 which totals to 249, but what we got charged was 318. again its not a fight over the 69 dollars but rather its the principle of not overcharging customers. i called thrifty customer service and they said that this location is stand alone so I have to call them directly. i spoke to them and the gentleman seemed so uninterested in assisting me in addressing my issues that I just thanked him for his time and hung up. i submitted a complaint to thrifty in writing this time and hoping for a resolution. had the additional charges been mentioned to me at the start of my rental i would be happy to pay them but the 168 included some of the fees that they double charged me for. i rent cars regularly from competitors in CA and have never ever run into an issue like such. terrible rental, terrible customer service straight scammers

I called ahead of time to ask how that works and the person I spoke with said I can just return late and will get billed my daily rental rate. I confirmed this at the rental counter. However, when I got my bill at the end of the trip, it was $300 more than I was expecting. They told me that I had signed a contract and that anything an employee told me was meaningless over the signed contract. Sure enough, on the contract, there's a line item buried for "EDAY" with a rate that's $100 more than my daily rate. How am I supposed to find that without spending 15 minutes reading every word at the counter, and also know that eday represents a different rate that you're billed per day if you return late? Shady business practices. I booked through here instead of Avis like I normally do because the rate was a few dollars cheaper, and I won't be making that mistake again.
