Chris, the service manager, was very unpleasant to speak with and used tactics of intimidation, threatening to send the bill to collections without first having sent me the bill, to try to get me to pay $322 for the loose clip. I consider this to be normal wear and tear for a vehicle with 50,000 miles as opposed to accidental damage. Arguing with Chris was futile so I was able to get ahold of the General Manager, Steve Steinbrook, who reached out to me in a timely manner and was nothing short of understanding and professional. He dropped the claim immediately and sent me a confirmation letter releasing me from all financial liability. Steve, you get an A+ for customer service and turning the situation around with one short phone call. Chris, you get a big fat F and I hope you learn from this experience so you can better serve your customers.

Next, turning on the headlights was a procedure using a knob next to the steering wheel AND the lever attached to the steering wheel that most cars use. The manual to the car was missing and when I told the Enterprise clerk this she said "well that's because customers steal them" ( who needs a manual to a car they don't own?) She also said we should have googled how to use the lights- well no wifi at Glacier Park or in the mountain passes.We spoke to several customer reps that said what can we do to make this right? Nate picked us up from the airport in a nice, black SUV, communicating exactly where we'd find him, helped load all our gear, and drove us to their office a few miles down the road. We received a new Crosstrek with barely 1000 miles on it. Check in was straightforward, as was the return. We especially appreciated that they require your own proof of insurance, via credit card or homeowner policy, and didn't try to upsell us everything under the sun. My wife and I loved how easy it was to pop up the top (seriously takes 5 seconds to put up and take down) without the hassle of needing to tow a trailer. It was also plenty warm in the top at night, and we loved being able to store our gear in the cab that we could access without needing to get out. The Jeep was super clean and we really appreciated the cooler and folding chairs that Alyssa had in the Jeep all ready for us when we picked up the car. We didn't need to do any offroad driving but the Jeep handled great on the roads, even at highway speed. Fortunately, that did not happen, and not only that, the representative went above and beyond and got us a hybrid as we requested, the car had only 2,600 miles on it and was in excellent condition. On top of that, the representative did not try to up sell or swindle us into buying additional coverage since I had LDW coverage from Amex, which some other car rental companies (such as Fox) would have tried to do given the amazing rate I had managed to book at (only 1/5 of the current booking price). Just an overall great experience from pick up to drop off. Highly recommend!
