OK Hertz. Not at airport, but shuttle isn't too far away. Shuttle drivers were very friendly and helped with bags. Car was decent. No gas station directly by airport, but several 1-2 miles away so time it right. read more

Avoid Hertz at all costs! They made our car rental experience a horror requiring us to log into some stupid travel website even though our car reservation was prepaid! Staff were completely unhelpful and ignorant! I never use Hertz and never will again! read more

The Hertz shuttle area is CRAZY! Each car rental agency has their own shuttle and the area to get to the shuttle is way to narrow. There must have been 100+ people trying to find their way to the correct shuttle; and each person was probably lugging 2 rolling luggage. Finally get to the Hertz and find the Gold Board. I see my name but no stall number. ARG! had to wait in line which took forever. The Hertz dude was pretty nice so I couldn't get mad. Plus, I didn't wanna start this trip off in anger. Finally given a stall #; get to the stall and it's the wrong car. ARG! Back to Hertz counter and more typing away at the keyboard. Finally got a car and they tossed in a free NeverLost for the inconvenience. If the Gold Board worked as it was supposed to, it would have been fine. Oh well. read more

Renting a car for me means..... VACATION! And for those of you who have ready any of my transportation-y type reviews (ie: airports) you know I love vacations and anything that represents a vacation! So, really, that simple fact made it much easier for me to like Hertz. But despite my biased opinion on the fact I love everything that represents vacations, I honestly have no reason to complain. I had an easy, good experience with this hertz. We were taking a weekend getaway and we love exploring the other islands so of course renting a car is top on our list of must dos. We got in early in the morning and the shuttle driver was extremely kind and perky for the wee morning hours. The lady who helped us at the desk was not quite as perky, but still kind and we got through the counter quickly and were told to go to a certain stall. Yes, she did try to get us to upgrade a couple times. Just say no (If you want) and move on. We did - car was there, we did our very good inspection (Better safe then sorry) and got on our way. Gave our information from inspection to the guy at the gate and off we went to explore the island and enjoy our trip. Dropping the car back off was just as easy. We got back to Hertz with a minute to spare, 6:59 when our return time was 7:00pm. The guy was very kind, easy to work with and all was done in a timely fashion. Again, the shuttle driver was very kind and we were on our way. All in all - I typically rent from Hertz or Enterprise and I would rent from this Hertz again. read more

Gold card = winner! I love this Hertz for the sole fact that you just go pick up your car, drive to the exit and they check you out there. Long lines are a thing of the past my friends! Our cars always seem exceptionally clean and very well taken care of which isn't as common as you think. We will be back, no doubt about that! read more

Renter Beware We rented an SUV from this Maui Hertz location and ended up getting stuck with a $500 repair bill for damage we didn't cause. The staff would not help us in any way and after being pursued by their claims department wouldn't even answer the phone or return messages. The staff here is horrible. Check your car carefully when you rent here or you may be stuck like we were. We'll never rent from them again. read more

This experience started out at a 1 star. I still kind of want to leave a one star but the customer service of the manager and district manager saved it. Kalai over came the huge $h*t storm her employee left me in. Buyer beware. When u add insurance u pay for it all up front. $200 deposit plus your insurance cost. Jen was the representative that helped us in completing the reservation at the airport. Jen was very good in trying to upgrade us to the next size vehicle but in the process of her trying to help us she failed at serving our needs. when she saw our bags she informed us that our bags would not fit in the Chrysler 200 that had been reserved but they would fit in a Dodge Charger. I explained that our bags would fit in a Nissan Versa hatch back and I am sure that they can fit in a full size vehicle that we reserved. We actually argued for about 2-3 minutes about size and what could fit. I finally told her i could fit our luggage very nicely in the Altima S. Jen continued to lie about what services we needed and what would fit in the car. Here is a complete break down of what was told to us: 1.We needed a bigger car because of how many bags we had -Lie- I fit all 4 of our bags and a set of golf clubs in the Nissan Altima S and had room for about 2 more bags 2. We were getting damage coverage on the vehicle -Lie- We did not pay for that. We paid $185.24 for LIS and $76.89 for Uninsured Motor Prct. 3."Hertz has the cheapest gas on the island."This is a direct quote from Jen. -Lie- Jen charged us for Full Purchase Option Accepted. I did not agree or disagree to this charge but it was put on my bill. Also if you are a costco member gas is far more inexpensive. After all of this, as soon as Jen got our payment we were dismissed. She didn't explain the process for Pre-Rental Vehicle Inspection Form. We were driving off when my wife said "hey, don't we need to fill this out?" I had to pull around and ask someone else for the process. Kalai contacted me and told me that she was sorry and had me cruz down two blocks to the hertz at the hotel down the road and made sure that the $485 "held" on my card was switched to $200. When I dropped off the car there was no charge. Thank you Kalai for making things right. read more

Was picked up by the shuttle after waiting only five minutes. Walked into the office and up to the gold counter and asked if I could just go to the space and drive off my rental vehicle since I had an email stating what space my vehicle was in. She said yes so I walked right out to the car, loaded it up and drove off. Drop off was quick and convenient walked over to a bus which was waiting and was back at the United airlines counter in about five minutes. Go Hertz and go Gold. You will be glad you did. read more

I like how things on the Islands tend to move at a slower pace than big city life but, man, it was super slow the day we picked up our rental car! And there was only a couple other people in there so I'm not sure what the hold up was. After finishing up at the office we walked over to our rental and found that it was dirty with at least a couple of different unknown substances in a couple of different places. I understand that these cars aren't usually totally brand new looking but they clearly didn't spend much time even looking at their car before deeming it ready for the next rental. The lady in the office that helped us was nice enough, the driver on the shuttle was nice, and they were quick to give us another (and cleaner) car... but I think they'll need to pick up the pace just a little bit and have to clean their cars a bit more thoroughly to gain any more stars from me. read more

I come here every time I come to Maui. 9 out of 10, the experience has been great. As a Gold Member, my vehicle was available upon my arrival. Check out was a breeze. The only time where the experience sucked is when we were waiting over an hour for their shuttle to take us to the airport. Once a shuttle arrived, we barely made our flight. We left ample time (so we thought), but waiting for the shuttle for over an hour was unacceptable. After some inquiries, the shuttle drivers were on break. Uhhhhhh...ok, take your breaks in shifts, not all at the same time. So, this last trip to Maui, there was a shuttle idling nearby at all times. I guess all of those customer "suggestions" were taken. Other than the bad shuttle experience, I've had no issues getting the vehicle that I rented. The employees that I've interacted with have all been pleasant even when I call the office directly for lost and found. read more

Gold member....shuttles arrived back to back. One was leaving when I got to the shuttle stop, saw another pulling in. Left in about 5 mins after waiting for passengers. 2 minute drive to Hertz. Had a car waiting in spot 600. Didn't know where it was so the Hertz lady brought me right there, and off I went. Leaving the facility was pretty quick even though there's only one exit stall. Car was good, got a Hyundai Sonata Gray. Was new and in great condition. No complaints. Drop off was easy. Only one dropping off at the time and took the shuttle back to the airport by myself. Shuttle left right after I got on and took 3 mins to get to the airport. Never had a bad experience with Hertz as a gold member. read more

First of all i am never using Hertz again, canceling my gold membership for me and my entire family. They ruined our honeymoon, i went in and they screwed up the names in the reservation instead of trying to help me they argued with me the manager and some other lady. I have now had to spend 1 thousand dollars to rent a car last minute because of these crooks ill also be contacting corporate since the staff were rude unaccommodating and didn't try to solve a simple problem when we paid for everything. This is the worst vacation i have been on due to hertz and the manager working there at September 11th 2017. I will be contacting corporate offices this is not right we had our honeymoon ruined by these people instead of a honeymoon we are stressed and stuck in our hotel everything was booked and paid for and HERTZ made a mistake instead of fixing it the supervisor basically told me she cant do anything about it.... I get it if we made a mistake of some sort but hertz was responsible for not getting the name right, Hertz was responsible for lying to us the 2 employees i spoke to were laughing like its some kind of joke refusing to give me their employee numbers and covering their name tags i hope after i call corporate someone from hertz reads this and finds out who was the supervisor/manager on duty sep 11th. My fiance is crying and they are laughing at us....the time was 12:13 pm on September 11th please hertz find out who was working that day and if you want to keep loyal customers deal with your horrible customer service. we were there for 3 hours wasting our time. We ended up using a competitor and paying 10x the amount but dont use this hertz you don't want your experience ruined by these evil people they hire. Again the employees were mocking us smiling while my fiance is crying this is not how you operate a busies as a business owner myself i will go back there find out the names and contact corporate the worst experience i have ever had with any car rental company stay away@!!!! read more

I've been standing in line, in the exact same spot for an hour now. This is ridiculous! I was so happy to finally make it to Maui... and now all I want to do is go home. Rented from Hertz exclusively for decades. Due to experience at OGG, never again. First, did not receive vehicle class I reserved. Kindly requested an adjustment. Was told take it or leave it. Without a question, Tim was the most condescending manager I have ever interacted with in service industry. Vehicle had check engine light on. Three bald tires and one new one. Certainly had not been cleaned in weeks. When you rent with hertz and pay hertz prices you expect a decent vehicle. Just need to run down the thousands of hertz points and done. Final hertz rental. read more

Beware, review your contract carefully and ask a number of questions on every line item you see on the contract. They do not provide accurate details; which in turn means you'll pay a high price for a rental car. If they say they'll credit your account, you'll need to make sure to follow up. It's been about 3 weeks and I still haven't received anything. I luckily contacted the (800) number and they were willing to credit my account BUT ONLY HALF THE AMOUNT. read more

This location lacks in understanding customer service! The blonde female working the counter is with out a doubt the rudest person I have ever encountered at any car rental throughout the world. She refused to change a vehicle that was not quite large enough and we preferred something other than awd. They need more employees manning the computers. Very slow. When I went, they only had one person working amongst a row of 5 computers.

Do not rent a car from here. Two hour wait we experienced. No computers were down. They are just completely inefficient. Finally it was our turn and the person started to tell me a story with a ton of people still waiting. Ugghhh so frustrating. read more

I've never spent more than an hour waiting for a rental car until I visited Hertz here. My friends had reservations but the customer service was so slow that it took wayyyyy too long. Somehow the price they charged my friend was way different than what he thought he was going to be charged online. The first car that we were assigned to smelled heavily of cigarette smoke that it was nauseating! We had to wait an extra 20 minutes for them to assign a different car to us (one that had just been taken from the car wash). We marked up all the dents and stuff on the form before we left with the car (as protocol says). The guy at the exit gate was supposed to ask for that form but of course, he didn't and we didn't realize that we hadn't given it to them . Upon returning the car, my friend had to fill out a form saying that they didn't collect the form with all the premade scratch marks. If they had done their job well in the first place, we wouldn't have had to spend an extra 15 minutes filling out a form to fix their mistake! Overall, REALLY slow service. I would not recommend. read more

Beware of fuel levels and fueling charges. Our rental pick up was super quick (8pm) and our vehicle worked great for what we needed- but our vehicle only had half a tank when the receipt indicated it was full. We took a picture of the reading showing the fuel level and mileage before we pulled out of the lot. When we returned it we made sure it had half a tank- showed it to the attendants in the lot who said it wouldn't be an issue. We took another picture of the mileage and fuel level when we returned it just in case. A week later we got a charge for refueling $56. The other family that traveled with us and returned their's full also received a charge for refueling ($100+). I don't think the staff at this location are checking the fuel levels- and unless you are looking at your charges for a week or two after you might not see it. We both called customer service and the charge was refunded. Just be cautious. read more

We have been to this Hertz twice. It is very confusing because the Pleasant Travel is there too, and it is not clear which is which. This time there was a LONG line and people in the line didn't know if it was for Pleasant Travel or Hertz. We had reservations for Hertz and had been in t his long line (which snaked around the building!!) for quite a while when an employee and asked if anyone was waiting for Hertz, and directed us to the "front" of the line, where we continued to have agents help Gold customers ahead of us, who had just gotten there (understandable, but still frustrating) or put out the "closed for lunch " sign. We finally got waited on, and it was ok. We went for the insurance, which we probably shouldn't have. We were so tired by this time it wasn't a good decision. We already knew that our own insurance covered rental cars. The car itself was dirty and had lots of dings and dents, but we weren't about to go back into that rat race to complain (who would care??) We did carefully document every mark on the car. The guy we checked out with was disinterested and pronounced it "normal wear and tear" The passenger seat was extremely uncomfortable to sit and did not adjust, had to use hotel pillows behind my back to compensate. The shuttle was good, if one was full there was another right behind it. Good service from the driver with the bags and courteous. Would have been SOOOO nice had the driver explained that "pleasant travel" customers go to the right and regular Hertz customers to the left (or whichever way it was) and the Gold customers as always, step to the front of the line, or if there was a " greeter" to herd the masses. Prices were very high, of course it is an island so this is expected. We weren't gouged as badly as the time we came at Christmas! Checkout and return process wasn't bad and return shuttle also good and fast, courteous driver again. Gas prices in Maui seem to be the same everywhere, they must prohibit gas wars. I think it was 4.45 everywhere we went, expensive but regulated. We prefer to fill up the tank upon returning the car. Next time we will see if there is a "less bad" car rental service on Maui. read more

This was absolutely horrendous. We reserved a car and were told that the prior renters decided they wanted to keep it an extra day. So we had to pay another $450 on top of what we previously paid to get another car. Not to mention they are totally understaffed. GET CONTROL OF INVENTORY!!!!!!! So ridiculous. Once we got our car, it had LESS than a HALF TANK of gas. Bottom line, use a different company!!! read more

This was the easiest rental car experience We have ever had. We booked online using Hertz Gold. Upon arrival at the airport. Pickup spot near baggage claim was clearly marked. The return was just as simple and organized. Definitely use Hertz again. read more

Without question, this was the absolute worst car rental experience I have ever had. With a reservation it took well over an hour. Pretty poor customer service and it was painfully slow. There were probably ~8 people in front of me in line and it still took just under 2 hours of standing in line to getting my rental car. The lady at the counter seemed nice but was very aggressive trying to get us to upgrade our car, which was annoying since from the get-go we told her that we were not going to upgrade. There is also a policy that the cars need to be washed before picking them up, which is nice to have a clean car, but seems wasteful as it just adds to the already grueling waiting process. Maybe if they washed it on return instead of on pick up it could speed things up. Also if there could be more than 2 people working at any time to speed up the process it would be nice. Otherwise, I would never come here again to rent a car - as it ends up being a huge waste of time picking up and returning cars. read more

Ryan air advertised car hire for £70 on their website which is not the case - there are many hidden charges not told or cleared to the customer - (very disappointed by deceiving advertisement by Ryanair ). 3. I got tired of standing in the car rental chump line and watching gold card members arrive after me and get helped before me. Work offered a free Hertz gold card, so I signed up. My wife used my credit card to reserve a Ford Mustang for our honeymoon in Maui. We arrived on Maui and caught the Hertz shuttle to the rental lot. I told my wife to get a place in line to beat the crowd while I grabbed the luggage. I rolled our bags inside in time to hear my wife say, "here he is." She was talking to the Hertz agent in the gold card line. The agent told us that because my wife rented the car in her name, and I am the gold card holder, we need to get in the chump line with 10 people in front of us. She was unable to change the reservation to my name because we booked it through Hotwire (big mistake). She informed us the kiosk would probably be faster. We waited at a kiosk for several minutes. The lady on the screen told us she could not put my wife as a driver because the credit card was in my name. She could not change the reservation because we booked through Hotwire (big mistake). After we change the reservation, only I will be allowed to drive because it is in my name. We were planning to take the road to Hana. The drive is a very scenic 3 hour trip with 617 curves and 56 bridges each way. Making one person drive both ways is unacceptable. My wife called Hotwire to try and sort things out leaving me with nothing to do but express my frustration. I found a manager to do just that. I politely explained how displeased we were. She took my name and the reservation information. She changed the rental to my name. Because we reserved the car using Hotwire (big mistake), she informed me it would cost $13 a day to add an extra driver. Oh wait, because I am a gold card holder, additional drivers are free. Because we used Hotwire (big mistake), the Hertz agents were not allowed to modify anything. After two employees were so useless they made us angry, the manager stepped up and did what should have happened to begin with. We got our car and we were both allowed to drive it. It was dirty inside and out. At least the baggage handler cleaned the windows for us when we complained. read more
