Never really thought about it, but I didn't rent from Hertz yet while hanging out on Maui. I chose the other guys previously, but thankful I got a pretty decent rate for a rent rental transaction on the weekend of 9/17/2016. I was happy about that.
I found a good price quote for my rental car at Priceline.com. I used the "name your own price" tool and out popped Hertz as the car rental vendor that had accepted my rental car price offer. I had gotten a fair shake at the deal, but you'd probably will need to see where you can save $$ and try to see if you can get a good deal on Priceline or Hotwire. Fast forward to the day of arrival. I arrived at OGG airport on Saturday, 9/17/2016 and quickly made my way to the rental car facility in short order. The shuttle bus operator was nice and friendly. The shuttle bus was empty, clean, and air conditioned, so that was nice. The car rental facility was near the airport, which was the case for most of the other car rental agencies at OGG. Being that it was a Saturday morning, it felt like it was a bank. Empty and only one person tending the desk, which happened to be at the gold line anyway. Surprise surprise. The facility was pretty big and clean. Quite nice too. I ended up getting help after 5 minutes. The check in service was friendly and fast. She helped me get on my way and that was the important thing. The overall experience here at Hertz rental car at OGG airport was good. No hassles about my booking and the service was as expectant as they come.
This car rental facility is located nearby OGG Kahului airport. Hertz is one of the better car rental car agencies out there and apparently I haven't rented from them till just this trip to Maui in 2016 September. That's a little weird but okay. Like all in the industry, they accept credit cards, always a great thing. They do accept debit cards, if you provide them with you airline itinerary. The price that I reserved on Priceline was as competitive and comfortable with me than that of Hertz's website. It's nice to take in the good deals, wherever you can find them. I picked up car rental insurance at $30/day for a 2 day rental, which was kind of pricey, but I remind myself that what's worse than not having it, just in case something were to happen. Plus going through your credit card company re: car rental insurance can be a major headache and hassle. So, this way is much simpler, but costly, if nothing eventful happens. It's money out of your pocket for piece of mind, for those of us who do not carry car rental insurance at home. I'm happy with my car rental experience and if y'all can come to Maui, be wise with your budget and see what options are there for you, including public transportation.
I would definitely recommend Hertz rental car for your travel needs while working or vacationing on Maui. The service was expedient, friendly, and professional, as explained above. The car class I recent drive was an economy car and it drove fine. Quite smooth and no issues with it. The car interior was clean and no scratches on the exterior of the car as well. For me, it was just getting from point A to B with many side trips in between, without having to be at the mercy of public transportation and the cost fit my budget without being too spendy for my own good. 4.0 stars for this Hertz rental car place in Kahului Maui. Check them out on your next visit. You may be glad you did! I know I did.
