Our vehicle had to have some body work done so the dealership sent us here. Since I have an SUV we were promised a Chevy Traverse. When we got to this location there were 2 people waiting in front of us while the employee helped another person at the counter. I don't know how long he had been helping him before we got there, but it took him another 30 minutes. He averaged about 30 minutes per customer. This was especially frustrating because there was another employee, but even though there was a store full of people all he seemed to be doing was walk around. Not once did he stop to help to clear people out. It was obvious that he was more than capable of helping people because the guy who was doing everything kept asking him questions. It took us about 2 hours and we left with a Buick Encore... its basically the size of a clown car. So much for being promised a larger vehicle. This place needs more employees and more vehicles. I read all the other reviews and was very weary about booking a reservation at the Hemet location. I've been a Gold member for 8 years and usually rent from the Temecula location but they didn't have the vehicle type I needed and didn't want to have to rent from the airport. I reluctantly booked a 7 passenger SUV and waited in trepidation as my pick-up date approached. Don't know if the management changed recently or if every prior disgruntled customer this location ever served banded together to burn their Yelp page down, but my experience was BETTER than any of the airports I recently rented from. I was in and out in less than 10 mins. The walk around on the vehicle was already completed and I only had to review the pictures they took. The car was pretty much brand new (1500 miles on the odometer) and was a full size 7 seater and not a 5 seater that got "stretched" into the larger vehicle category. My experience here doesn't invalidate any other reviews but we all should keep in mind that a place with mixed reviews could easily be because of the tendency of people to bias towards the negative rather than giving praise for a job well done. However, because visiting a car rental place, whether you have a reservation or not, you have to arrive knowing there might be a wait, there might be too many customers, and not enough reps. I rented an economy car (directly, not through a third party like Expedia). On pick up they only had a huge, gas guzzling, Ram 2500 V8 truck available. When I rent a car, I expect a car. A truck is not a car. I could only have a car for an extra $10/day (33% more than I was paying on a 7 day rental). Total money grab. The associate was pleasant but didn't even apologize. Should have read the reviews before booking, but usually Hertz is pretty reputable, it never occurred to me to do so. Lesson learned. read more

1. They charge you move even though you prepaid for the car. 2. They will give you an electric car or charge you an upgrade fee. 3. They will not tell you about toll charges until after the fact and say oh they should have told you that when you picked up the car sorry. Thankfully I didn't use any tolls. 4. Was charge $91 more than when I had already prepaid. 5. When I called hertz they only credited the $55 for upgrade but not all the taxes that where applied to the $55 dollars. Because they for dome reason can't credit any taxes. But if you take the $55. Off in reality shouldn't there be any taxes to apply??? 6. The attitude of the 2 employees there stinks. They are understaffed and it appears the counter people are stressed because they are doing the work of 6 people. Beyond attitude I had to wait over an hour to be picked up at a car dealership where my car was in for repairs. They were called 3 times before Sydney finally showed up. I was standing out front in 103 degree heat with my service dog she opened the door and said " you're not the one waiting for hertz are you ?" Yes I am "Well dogs are not allowed in the car" I had her bed and a blanket to cover the seat i informed her she is my service dog. She then reluctantly took me to the rental place, about 3 minutes away. Got there had to wait for a lady ahead of me who was renting a car ( happened to be a lady I knew, who was also at the dealership and got an Uber ride to hertz) The man finished with Lorraine and then another couple who came in after me was seating there and Sydney took care of them before me!!! Now the sales job on me started insurance scare tactics even though my own insurance covers me as well as my capital one card she tries to scare me into paying for insurance. Then she informs me there is a cleaning charge of at least $65.00 if the interior I has dog hairs when I return the car. I've been going since 8:30 AM it is now close to 1:30 and my dog and I have not eaten so I starting to get hangry. They give me a black Nissan Altima which is a nice car. The guy inspected it took pictures and told me he would send them to me via email never got them. He told me the start button was next to the steering wheel it wasn't so I'm searching for the button in a car that is over 103 degrees no water for my dog who is panting like crazy. I locate the start button it is on the center console. No one gave me any instructions on how to operate this vehicle except Lorraine she told me to step on the brake and press the button, otherwise I was ignorant. I drove to Idyllwild and back two days later a total of 77 miles used 2.5 gallons of gas (28 mpg according to the car computer). I put in 2.6 gallons before returning it The man told me it was at 3/4 when I took it and now it is below that wanted to charge me $20.00 for 2 gallons of gas. I went back to the circle K and added 2.1 more gallons and went back with it now over 3/4 gallons. He took me back to the dealership and I asked for a refund of the extra gas now in the tank. He said no they used 6 miles of their gas to pick me up so now they are using my extra fuel to drop me off. I have never had just bad customer service at any other car rental. If it was Enterprise the gas of less than one gallon would never have been an issue. I should have had a full tank to begin with and I should have made them come outside to see the gas gauge was BELOW 3/4 tank before I drove away. I'll never set foot in there again. I needed a car to get to my family's house for Christmas as my car's gear box malfunctioned on Christmas eve day. The only car Hertz had left was an SUV with exorbitant pricing for two days. The counter was 10 minutes from closing for the holiday and the SUV had not been reserved. I asked the rep if there was any way they could lower the price seeing as the vehicle would just be sitting there otherwise, and the pricing so high. (There was no time to get to any other car rental before closing for Christmas eve). Without hesitation my question was turned down. The reply simply was - No. I asked again and explained I wouldn't otherwise get to have holidays with my family. Still, just a No. I asked if she could call the manager to see if there was any wiggle room. This upset her. Again, just No 'because he'll say the same thing'. I pressed for a call to the manager, thinking maybe given the circumstances and the fact that the car would otherwise be generating zero income... Now, during this entire interaction this rep had attitude, was disinterested and rude. She did finally call the manager; and simply said - there's a person at the counter that wants a lower rate. That's it! Didn't advocate, no desire to help, no compassion for my situation. Now it's closing time. I told her I would rent the car anyway to get to my family, and the process began. I finally felt so mistreated I just had to mention her rudeness. And that was it. I was told to 'get out' and was ushered to the door. I spent Christmas at home alone. I'll continue to rent from Hertz, just will never go back to this location. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. This location is the absolute worst when it came to customer service and satisfaction. I rented a car on 4/3 as I needed it for an upcoming trip. I booked at 9:30am for a 3:00pm pick up. I rented the car through Triple A. At 1:37pm and 1:38pm PDT, I tried to get a hold of the local Hertz to verify the economy car was going to be there. Nobody answered. At 1:40pm PDT I reached customer service who assured me my economy car would be available. Upon arriving at the designated time, I was informed that he wasn't even aware that he had any more reservations for the day and he thought they were all morning pick ups. I was also told that they did not have my economy car, except the one that the (what appeared to be a manger) was driving. He informed me that customer service does not know what cars are available. He stated he had one car, but it was the one he was driving. He did not seem to want to rent me the car he was currently using. It was a Kia Niro and unfortunately being full electric and needing charged every 250 miles, was not going to work for my needs. He reiterated several times that it was the car he was driving as though he wouldn't give me the vehicle should I have requested it. He had also mentioned that there was another pick up at 3:30pm for an economy car, that he asked the other rep to call and let them know. In the 45 minutes I spent in the building, that phone call was never made. As I was finishing up that customer arrived to also pick up their vehicle. Finally, he decided he would check to see what other cars were available. After several minutes he informed me that they had a GMC Terrain and a Ford Edge, however I would have to pay the difference. The rep refused to honor the price I was given through AAA. He did give me $5 off per day on the rental for $15 per day being charged rather than $20 per day. He charged me for a full 6 days of use on the $15 when I had initially planned to drop it off at 10:00am. (He moved my drop off to 4:00pm since he charged me the full day) Based on the AAA reservation for a compact SUV, the same time frame should have only been $243.68 (A 3:00pm pick up with a 10:00am drop off). Because my personal vehicle is getting repairs and seeing as it was already 4:00pm, I needed a vehicle and since he wouldn't budge on the pricing, I took the car. The total came to $301.42 plus a $200 security deposit. During my time at Hertz I was informed that he could not directly call other stores and the only phone numbers he had were the same ones I had. There are three other stores close by I could have attempted to get a car from. (Temecula, Moreno Valley and Riverside.) I do not think it's fair that the Hertz system allows people to make reservations and then the customer has to pay the difference on cars when one is not available. Overall, my experience at the Hemet Hertz left a bad taste about Hertz. I have rented a lot of cars over the last two years due to major repairs to my own vehicle and have never had an issue reaching the rental depot or renting a car period. I do not think it is fair that I am expected to pay a $100 difference when Hertz was unable to not only not provide the requested vehicle, but made no effort to help me find one. At pick up I waited almost an hour and a half to DROP OFF the car, which took less than 5 minutes. Both counter reps disappeared for over 30 minutes. And not once did they apologize for the wait. They left a room full of people there. I had someone come pick me up and even he was astounded at the lack of customer service that was given. I missed over an hour of work for something that should have taken 5 minutes had they triaged what people were there for. Not only did the store refuse to help me, but customer service has been a joke as well. I will never use Hertz again and have told all my friends about my experience. I was given the oldest car they have and the person was extremely rude. She was not willing to answer questions and was very disappointed that my Hilton honors American Express was authorized. My wife finds this "lost" employee outside and tells him that we have a reservation from our insurance. He then tells her that he could give more information after she gets in the approx. 2 hour line, but still we may not get a car. We wait a half hour and then we ask if we come tomorrow will we get a car? He replies, that he can't tell us that we may still not get a car. We left shortly after that. We reserved with another car rental company through our insurance and the other company quickly contacted us and guaranteed a car for us. I honestly thought that Hertz in Hemet was better than this. I went in there 15 minutes before closing time because I didn't they actually close at 12:00pm on Saturdays. I made the mistake of not looking at Yelp reviews for this car rental establishment before renting with them. As soon as I walked in the door, I was sarcastically greeted by a white blue-eyed lady (I'm guessing she's the Sidney everyone is talking about in the reviews). The administration of this establishment needs to do something about this. This lady is just so rude when she talks to people, you can easily notice that she does not want to be there, or she definitely hates customer service. She does not show respect when she talks to people and speaks way too fast, if you ask her to repeat, you can sense her annoyed and grumpy attitude. I'd put zero stars if possible. This place always seems to be short staffed. My mom rented a vehicle here for myself and her. 2 separate vehicles. My vehicle had a heavy smell of Lysol when we picked up the vehicles. Also an odd smell I couldn't quite place. The next morning as we are leaving for out of town I get in the car and it smells like someone used it for a hotbox. The marijuana smell was so bad I could not breathe and was getting a contact high. I had to drive the entire way with the windows down because we didn't have time to take the car back. Used my moms rental the rest of the time for our trip and when I brought the car back early. I had febreezed the entire car and left the windows down to air it out so of course the smell is not there by the time I get back. I told the guy at the counter and he could care less. Acted like it was my problem not his. Didn't offer to discount the ridiculous price already for what it was. And just shrugged it off because he couldn't smell anything. We tried to rent a car here because of a recent accident and the car was in the shop. The insurance would only pay for a mid sized sedan. Lady was like in the most aggressive tone that she would upgrade us to a larger car for free. We had booked online for a midsize sedan. Customer Service is key in my opinion, and this office fails miserably. And I speak specifically about Sydney, who is quite possibly the worst CS rep I've ever dealt with. As she came out from the back, I greeted her with "hello", and no greeting just a "can I help you?". So on with the paperwork and as she typed in my info, I noticed a weird scary looking monster head (Halloween season) on the counter. I went to touch it and she sternly yelled, "DON'T TOUCH THAT!"... "my son makes those and...blah blah blah.." (whatever, then don't put it up where people can touch it and don't talk to me like I'm an unruly toddler who is about to break the precious family heirlooms) ...Ok so next, she puts my credit card in the machine and is barking orders at me to dare not touch the card until she says I can because ... blah blah blah, which is fine BUT it wasn't what she said, but, once again, the manner in which it was delivered that was the problem. She never looked me in the eye once and was going thru the process with an attitude like she was doing me a favor. At the end she ran a few things down and I got a dissertation about bringing the car back clean but not before scolding me because my AAA card was expired and if I didn't have the current card when I return the car, she would NOT be giving me my AAA discount. She hands me the contract and the key fob in the office, and says " there's your car, the red one.", pointing at it in the parking lot. That was it. No thank you, or have a good day, or anything. I walked out but I thanked her because I am polite and that's how I roll. When I got to the car it was filthy and it needed to go thru the car wash. So I washed it in my own time and dollar and I will definitely return it in EXACT condition I got it in. Bottom line: I don't know what Hertz is thinking but they ought to lose that snarky, Ill- mannered girl. They definitely lost me for any future business. My husband's business uses Enterprise and that's who I'll use from now on if needed. Their Customer Service is top notch. Hertz could take a cue from them. read more
