I am formally submitting a complaint regarding my experience at the Hertz location located at 240 Satellite Blvd NE Suite 105, Duluth, GA. My interaction with both the staff and management was extremely unprofessional and unacceptable. After waiting over an hour for a small SUV rental, I was informed upon arrival that I could not rent the vehicle using a debit card, despite being told over the phone that this would be accepted. In addition, the vehicle provided was dirty on the outside, showing a lack of proper preparation and customer care. Most concerning, I was threatened by a female employee during the interaction. This incident was recorded and documented. Cam, the manager on duty, was not helpful in resolving the situation and failed to appropriately address the behavior of his staff. I expect this matter to be taken seriously and resolved promptly by the general manager. If an appropriate resolution is not reached, I will escalate this complaint further through Hertz Corporate and any other appropriate channels. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location to others. read more

No customer service at all... business hours in the confirmation email show from 8 am - 6 pm. I received an email reminder the day before my reservation. I arrived there at 2:08 pm and it was already closed... without a car rental for two days and they still charged with I finally was able to get the rental this morning. I walked over around 8 am and there were already two people in front of me. Took about 10-15 mins each. Then it was my turn... he said holiday business hours are posted on the door, I said I saw that at 2:08 pm on Tuesday. Then he told me to wait over there... two other couples walked in and he helped them. Waited another 30 mins and a couple of other people came in. I walked back and asked him the got here after me... when can I get my car rental. Waited another 15 mins and he finally said he can help me. WTF. I went in today. Had a car on hold with uber. When I went inside she had knowledge that I had a car on hold. We figure something out and she proceeded to swipe my card. Then told me after the fact that my needed a additional 500 I wanted to cancel but it was too late she charged my card 1000 dollars As extremely upset, I was, I was told to just get in contact with my financial institution, but with my gut instincts, I marched right back in there and told them something needs to be done immediately with an hour the gentleman who has the only common sense in the building was able to get through to corporate and get me my money within hours however, I will never ever return there again.. read more

Danger! Do rent from here. Here is the letter I wrote and got $340 back in credit: 3/5/2026 Dear Hertz Customer Relations, I am writing to formally dispute several charges associated with my recent rental in Duluth, Georgia, on February 23, 2026. My experience at this location was highly unsatisfactory due to deceptive upgrade practices and an unfounded cleaning fee. Specifically, I am seeking a resolution for the following: Unauthorized Vehicle Upgrade: I reserved a full-size vehicle, yet I was charged for an SUV. I was told I was being "upgraded" but was forced to pay the higher rate without being given the option of a smaller vehicle or informed that my reserved class was unavailable. Unfounded Cleaning Fee: I was charged $250 for a "stain" on the seat. I have date-stamped photos taken at the time of return, clearly showing the interior was clean and free of damage. Poor Customer Service: When my wife called to resolve the billing error, the representative provided false information, claiming a specific female employee handled the transaction when, in fact, I dealt with a male employee. This experience does not align with the professional standards Hertz advertises. To resolve this matter, I am requesting a full refund of the $250 cleaning fee and a refund for the price difference between the full-size car I reserved and the SUV I was charged for. DO NOT RESERVE CARS AT HERTZ. Apparently their policy is to just take reservations but they don't have to give you the car. This company already went bankrupt once and they will probably do it again. Manager Cameron is rude and is no help at all. Stay away from them. read more

The reviews are correct. This place books cars non-stop and keeps the availability up and showing for rent, even when they don't have cars. Insult to injury, their call prompts now make it increasingly impossible to speak to a person. Don't go to through this location. I may stop frequenting Hertz all together after this experience. Well, less than 24 hours before a trip, Hertz called to say they did not have the large SUV we reserved. Instead, we paid $$$ for a tiny SUV no larger than the other cars we already had a home. Why do you book something and they "don't have it"? Is it a scam? Won't book with them again. read more

I don't understand how this location even remains open. I booked a reservation for 9AM but was told they had no car to give me in any class outside of an electric vehicle. I asked the gentleman if I could wait for a car and have them call me back once a vehicle was available and he suggested that I call around to other locations to see what they had instead. Holy cow what a bad experience, they don't even deserve 1 star. I booked and prepaid a week in advance for a compact car and when I arrived for my reservation and was told that they didn't have the car I booked and PAID FOR IN ADVANCE! Then their solution was to try to put me in a large SUV that was going to cost significantly more (seems to be a common theme reading these other reviews) and well out of my price range. Several people returned cars while I was waiting, including sedans, and when I asked about those I was just told "no", with no explanation. Not only that, they were actively turning people away who also had prepaid, saying that they would not honor any reservation made in the last two days or any reservation that was only a one way (to be returned to another Hertz location). After being there for almost an hour and a half, the representative made an announcement that they were "closing in 5 minutes" and that they would not be able to get to anyone else after those 5 minutes. After I got turned away and was waiting in the parking lot with a mob of other stranded and angry customers, who were now having to try to figure out other arrangements, I watched the person who had been working get in his car and drive away. There were still at least 15-20 people standing outside when he left. This is some of the worst customer service and business practice that I have ever seen. I will NEVER book with Hertz again, and I will make a point to tell other people not to book with Hertz. read more

i paid for a hybrid car, when i got to the hertz office they had no car in their fleet. A customer brought in a car and they offered to give me that car. Very poor service, if you don't have the car that i paid for don't put it on your website and get peoples hopes high for what they're not gonna get. If you make a reservation online and get to this location at the exact time of your reservation, guarantee they will claim they don't have that size vehicle for you. AND you must upgrade for an additional $50 a day. I even asked to downgrade us, nope. They replied no cars available. Baffled because there were a half dozen in the parking lot. If you love bait and switch, this is the exact place for you. If you love be treated with mockery, come here. If you love being lied to, this is your place. I rented a vehicle from this location for one day, they charged me 12 instead. I picked up the vehicle at 9am, returned it the same evening by 8pm and I was charged once for 2 day rental, then weeks later my card was charged again for additional charges. something that was meant to cost me $57 turned into a $1,200 plus charge on my credit card. read more

Customer Service doesn't live here! Other customers were complaining also... - It was supposed to open at 8:00am.... Someone finally showed up at 8:29 am (There were people lined up outside) - I booked and confirmed online days before so they knew I was coming. Yet my car was not ready. I had to wait about 30 minutes for him to go and clean the car. - There was another Hertz employee that stayed on his phone...I think he said he was a driver only....... After another customer requested help, he did go seek out the rep who said he was cleaning out the car. - The outside was still dirty but the inside was ok. The gas tank looked empty but there was 125 miles... - This was so unacceptable! I have been an Executive Assistant for over 25 years and I know how to perform outstanding service! No call so I decided to go back to the office right before they closed so they would not bill me for some obscure reason . Well guess what ? They had a car available at 5pm. One of the worse rental car places you'll experience. The workers need training and look lifeless. Also, there was not one car available that was available for reservation on the app. This place is horrible and honestly it smelled like cigarettes in there. I literally made reservations at this location and was informed even though I reserved a car, they don't have it. The location in Lawrenceville gave me the same experience. We initially walked in to get a rental and asked would we be able to use our Triple AAA discount but was told No because we came in as a walk in, that was ok so my family asked how much for a Mid size vehicle at regular price dude got mad got up from the desk and proceeded to roll his eyes...like WOW I taught we were being Pranked. As he comes back I'm on the phone trying to see if I could do a reservation that way we could use the discount EUGENE then proceeded to get upset and says why would we do that if my family member don't remember his # so I told EUGENE that we had gotten the # he still went on to say so WHAT ARE WE DOING with much attitude and hand gestures at this point I'm pissed my family is pissed as well. I told him how rude he was to us and that it's not what you say to PEOPLE but HOW you say it. His coworker at that point was directing us to the next location to try to deflect the situation he wasn't as rude however I understood what he was trying to do because he saw that his coworker was literally arguing with us. Worst rental car experience ever. I arrive at this location and there is no one in the office. After 5 minutes, I called the office just to see if anyone would pickup, and there was no answer. After waiting 10 minutes in the lobby, a woman comes out of the back, and starts telling me that the truck that I made a reservation for weeks prior has not returned. She then tells me that she's going to try and locate another one, and walks out of the office. While waiting an additional 10 minutes, two more customers walk in, asking me if anyone is working. I genuinely wish I could give this location 0 or negative stars. I was in town over the holidays and needed a car. I opted for booking a car online, specifically a 4-door sedan. I did not need any more room, and wanted to get the most affordable option during my stay. I arrived at Hertz a day after booking my rental only to be informed that they did not have any sedans on the lot. I asked why I was able to book a car, if they had none available.. the woman working (light skin woman) responded that the system allows overbooking and its not their fault. I was a little confused, seeing as it was not my fault either? I asked what the options were, and she told me I could pay $100+ more for the SUVs they had. How convenient - only luxury + bigger cars left. I asked if they could price match my reservation or offer a discount, because their error was out of my control. They said no (shocker) and I was very upset. I went to my car, and called the Enterprise down the road. They were able to offer me a sedan, even cheaper - and had it ready within 15 minutes. The customer service at this location is the worst!! I rented a car online and got a call the day before my pick-up stating they didn't have any cars! The call I received from a female employee was nothing short of rude and disrespectful. She stated they had no cars and I tried to ask a question, but was rudely interrupted when she said "I have some other customers to call," and hung up on me. I'm not sure who is running the company, but they need to re-evaluate their customer service model, because it SUCKS! Told me they could put me in another type of vehicle, but it would cost me a lot more money. Place was dirty, trash cans full. He then announces they overbooked customers and they had only premium cars available. He says everyone can either be added to waitlist or upgrade to a premium vehicle (with added charges)! I don't normally post negative things, but I feel it is my civic duty to warn the public about Hertz Car Rental business practices... and this wasn't just a one time occurence. Hertz will gladly take your online payment information, provide a reservation confirmation, schedule a set time/pick-up appointment, and then NOT have a vehicle in the lot for you to rent. Then, they will tell you another Hertz lot 'may' have a vehicle, but it will likely be (as was my case) over a 100% increase in the daily rate. After you have wasted your time, you will be treated with the worst customer service I've ever experienced by a condescending employee that shows zero empathy, no apology, will not provide their name or their manager's name, and only give a 1-800 # to actually cancel your car rental. Soooo I'll never rent from Hertz again. I booked through Travelocity for a good rate. Get to the location and bc I'm using a debit card there is a $500 hold. Okay, not really a big problem but sheesh. The lady has me sign for a car that we didn't go look at to make sure TOGETHER that there was not bumps and scratches I could be penalized for. THEN she told me there was a full tank. I cranked up my car and it's a HALF A TANK! The gentlemen inside didn't believe me, they came and checked and I guess made a note. I brought the car back on the time I placed on Travelocity for 6pm, they charged me AN EXTRA FULL PRICE CAR RENTAL FEE. I'm sure this happens often, I feel like someone should have shared that information instead of my looking at my bank account crazy the following day. Customer service sounded nonchalant about it when I contacted them and they said "it'll be back on your card in 3-5 days" WTH! So I have to wait for the deposit along with this extra $200 charge. Do you want to get taken for a ride? This particular office will do it without a car! We set reservation a week ago. From Lawrenceville GA to Ocala Florida it was a one way... Our rate was 196.00, we booked this rate because it was the most reasonable. First they required a security deposit of 250.00..OK no problem let's use my debit...they said there would be a soft inquiry...he then proceeded to say that I didn't qualify..I'm high 600s btw, he said it needed to be 600 . OK, my wife has better than that ..700s..nope can't rent to her either...so no trip, thanks Hertz! We checked online and rates were now $683! Ohhh OK so now it's a question of making more money and screwing customers who were thrifty about costs..Never use Hertz, they are thieves and extortionists. The only thing professional about this experience was the transportation from the body shop to the Hertz location. Once I got to the location it was a complete mess and completely unprofessional. I walked into the location and no one was at the desk. Everyone was in the back break down talking and laughing. She told me to have a sit which I did. The front waiting area was a mess. There were at least 10 opened candy wrappers just sitting all over the place. She went to the back to tell the people I was waiting and they couldn't be bothered to care. They continued to talk and laugh. I sat there 10 minutes without anyone coming out to meet me. A lady walks out finally with red and yellow braids and still says nothing to me. Turns out she was the manager at this location. A gentleman proceeds to come out, walks to his desk and a few minutes later calls me over to his window. There were 2 windows and I didn't know which one since he yelled it through the window. I walked to one window and it was the wrong one. The manager, yells not that window. I proceed to go to the other window. He starts processing my car. I ask what car do you have because when I called 10 minutes while at the body shop the manager stated she had 2 and I told her which I would take. Once I got there it was magically gone. The manager told the gentlemen all we have is a corolla. I told her I couldn't drive that back and forth everyday downtown in all that traffic in that little car so low to the ground. We went round and round on cars and then she said I could have the HRV. I said ok. Once we figured out the cost of the HRV was so astronomically high I told them just give me the corolla and I would just work from home. They processed the corolla. I asked when are we going to do the walk through for the vehicle so we could notate any damage. She said that's already been done and it's "a 2023 corolla so there is no damage". I shook my head and had to go find the vehicle myself as no one walked me out. During this about 3 other guys walked in (one I believe worked at another location) and you would haven't thought we were all just hanging out. They started talking about what they had going on instead of helping me. I found the vehicle and there was plenty of damage that needed to be noted. It also smelled of smoke. I decided I wasn't going to accept this vehicle like this especially since she WOULD NOT print out the damages that were supposedly already noted but per her didn't exist. I went back inside and said I would not take this vehicle. To just give me the HRV anyway and I would figure it out. She never looked at me but addressed the other person who I believe worked at another location and said, "well I never wanted to give her that vehicle anyway, it's a one way". I repeated again that I would take the HRV and again she repeated the same but not to me. The gentleman said you want the HRV? I said yes, he told her to just give it to me anyway and she refused. At this point, I said since you don't have a vehicle for me, just take me back to the body shop where you just picked me up from. She yells I can't do that. I said why not. You brought me here, you have no vehicles, and now I do not have my car. I have no transportation. I proceeded to ask her could she make an exception for my situation. She said no we can't do that. She had absolutely no regard to the fact that I was stranded with no transportation. I then called my husband to get me an uber. I asked what is the address here. No one answered me. I said it louder and she proceeded to say "google it". I was in utter shock. Before I left I asked for a receipt showing she terminated my rental, she said she couldn't do that. I told her I needed something and she said her system wouldn't print anything. I called my insurance and explained what happened and needed them to switch my rental to Enterprise up the street. The insurance rep tried to call the location to speak with someone because they hadn't closed out my rental like the manager stated. They answered the phone and put her on indefinite hold. They were too busy talking about their weekend. I told the rep to hang up and call back because they weren't going to come back. She did just that and got through. She proceeded to tell me how rude the employee was at the location. She finally was able to get them to release the reservation so a new one could be made for me. The insurance rep even remarked how unprofessional they were and she has never had this experience with Hertz before. This is the most disrespectful service I have ever received. There is no way she should be the manager of this branch or any branch or any other establishment. Ive encountered better and more professional customer service at McDonalds. She is a horrible representation to the Hertz brand. This location is the WORST and quite frankly deserves 5 NEGATIVE STARS! read more

She was "getting ready to start making notification calls now". Offered me an SUV with a much higher daily rate. So sad to see people treated this way by them. This is our second such experience. In addition, to being charged a tow fee because they sent me on the highway with two rusted-out tires. Also, they kept promising a manager was going to reach out and they never did.
