I reserved an economy car, supposed to be like a Kia Rio, or similar. So I expected a small car, but one that would at least fit 3 people and a few bags. What we were offered when we showed up for our reservation was either a Fiat 500 2-door hatchback (TINY!) or a Chevy Spark - a 2-door electric car that was completely inappropriate for what we needed. Bent over a barrel, we ended up upgrading to a larger car, but it was a very unpleasant experience, and what was an already outrageously expensive car rental (over $400 for a week for an economy car? Nuts!) ended up costing approximately $650. Can you say OUCH? read more

Never again! Hertz as a company is fine, THIS location however, and particularly, the branch manager Daniel, has caused me to take my rental business elsewhere. I was a walk-in on a Friday at 12 noon, I needed the car until 4pm the next day, Saturday. This location is closed on Saturdays. I returned the car early, 12 noon on Saturday, dropped the keys in the after-hours depository and headed downtown for food before heading to the airport for 6pm flights. I added protection to my rental and even pre-paid for gas. Estimated total that I signed for approximately $125. Fast forward 2 weeks, I'm charged $196 for my 24hour rental. I called the branch directly and spoke to Daniel, who agreed to take my number and try to refund the overage. He promised to call me back, but also told me refunds can be "really hard," but he'll see what he can do. He also explained that "they must have charged you for the whole weekend." They?? Isn't this YOUR branch?? Apparently, because I didn't hand write my return date and time on a random sticky and leave it with the keys, it's my fault I was charged an extra $70. Fast forward another two weeks, I called Daniel because I hadn't heard from him, and his response, "Oh, yeah man, no I haven't forgotten about you, it's just looking to be really hard to issue a refund. Once charges are complete the company takes weeks to process such requests and I'm not getting anywhere with my boss on this." In other words, he forgot. Daniel kept insisting that the $195 charge is based on "principle," that because I didn't play their game of 'write down return date and time,' that Hertz is justified in charging me for the whole weekend. Despite the resources I offered to prove the car was back in the lot by noon Saturday (uber receipts, time stamped photos from smart phone and even my boarding ticket for my flight that night.) Daniel was unwavering on "principle" alone. Obviously, he doesn't understand that "principles" can only be true principles if they are unwavering - they are true and steady at the core, not just when convenient. When I realized Daniel was the branch manager and completely unwilling to provide half-way decent customer service, I called the 1-800 Customer Service line. CINDY was phenomenal - no debating and only a couple questions - she apologized and issued a refund. My conversation with Cindy took all of 6 minutes. Not "really hard" at all. read more

Where do I start? 2 car rentals done thru this broadway branch. First rental we got a ticket in the mail for toll road in CANADA! We had the car for 3 days in Denver. Took 3 days on phone with Hertz 1800 to fix since local branches don't fix anything. 2nd rental for 5 days; we got billed for 9 days since staff "forgot" to check the car in for 4 days! In fact they rented it during that time to someone else (so 2 people renting a car for same time!) and that person got a ticket for double parking! Guess who got the ticket! We did. Then on top of it they charged us for the 4 extra days we never had the car. And to add salt to the wound they charged us for "not filling up the car" when in fact we did. You just can't make this stuff up. Hertz 1800 fixed the charges. Local branch did put in notes to help but how can you excuse this horrible service? I would like to charge hertz an hourly rate of my time. Never again. Not to just complain but to say to broadway hertz "this is how you fix this for your customers": YOU the local rental agency gets the information; YOU fix it so I do not have to spend hours/days on phone. Now that would have gotten you 5 stars read more

Absolutely horrible customer service!! We had reserved a full size SUV to be picked up at noon on a Monday. Got there and was told he had no cars and wouldn't. I asked how he could do that with an existing reservation and he said that it wasn't a guarantee for the vehicle we reserved. I asked what he suggested that we do and he said, don't know what to tell ya. And to boot the $$ had already been taken from my credit card. And when were to leave the following morning for an out of state trip for a week. He was cocky, rude and not helpful at all. DO NOT RENT FROM CHRIS OR HERTZ ON BROADWAY!!!! We were able to get one from Todd at the Hertz on County Line and he was so very helpful. Good thing we didnt schedule a 5pm pickup time or we would have been totally screwed. I have also made a formal complaint to Hertz Corporate. read more

Do not rent cars here. I was a few minutes late for my reservation and they gave my car away. They proceeded to yell at me about being late and that it was my fault. In about 2 minutes I found a cheaper car at Enterprise. read more

I rent from this location 3-4 times a month. And every time I am very well taken care of, the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful in meeting all your needs or resolving any doubt. And whenever any issue has arise with my rental be it large or small the staff has always been able to resolve it. I highly recommend this location for all your car renting needs! read more

Ugly Experience; nothing is as promised. Car is not ready at time promised Cost is more than quoted Car is not clean, inside or out Larger car than ordered... terrible gas mileage Inexperienced help. Save yourself the aggravation. Do not use Hertz! read more

Allen Preston is a rockstar! He went out of his way to get us what we needed at an amazing price! I'll definitely be back!

I rented a car for the first time at this location after being involved in an accident. I guess i shouldn't have told Ryan (sales rep) that story because then he stated that i needed to purchase a LDW (limited damage waiver) and didn't give an option to opt out even when i stated i had my own collision insurance. He charged me for it and told me that i would get reimbursed by my insurance. When it came time for that the insurance stated that they do not reimburse LDW and that i should have had the option to opt out. I then called Hertz and got a hold of Jim that stated he was the manager after i asked for one. The story gets better! Wait for it...After being on the phone with him for 45 minutes and being served in a non-professional way on his end he stated that if my receipts weren't highlighted in orange then i could get reimbursed. They weren't. So he asked for me to stop by so that i can get reimbursed. I went in the next day and Ryan was there. Here's where it gets interesting. I asked if i can speak with Jim and he told me Jim wasn't in yet but that he could help me out. I told him that i felt more comfortable speaking with a manager in which Ryan told me that Jim wasn't a manager and that he had more authority over him. WOW! After dealing with a very unprofessional Ryan i showed him my receipts and he still claimed that i may have thrown away the ones that had been highlighted. ALL THE PAPERS WERE THERE. He agreed to reimburse me and told me it will take 3-4 weeks when Jim told me it will take 2-3 weeks. Fine i agreed. Anything to not deal with these guys anymore. 6 weeks later, various phone calls, and a bunch of excuses from Jim , still no reimbursement. POTENTIAL CUSTOMERS GO TO ANY OTHER RENTAL AGENCY THERE ARE MANY TO CHOOSE FROM. Don't deal with these so called "managers." read more

This is possibly the worst service I have ever received. I was asked at the airport in DC if I wanted the fuel service, I said yes and was told it would be $41. I drive to Denver, turn in the car, they say I did not pay for the service. I say okay and go fill up the tank. The guy Chris takes the car and says he will email me a receipt, cool. Two days later I get a receipt and I did pay for the service. I go back and talk to Chris, he says a bunch of mumbo jumbo about the gas gauge working and needing an oil change and they needed some time to figure it out. It has been a week I go back and Chris basically tells me to go F myself. Says file a complaint, we don't care. Judging by their reviews they don't. Should have stayed away. It makes me wonder if this is a widespread practice of a deceptive corporate model . The same type of model as male enhancement pills, or insurance companies that deny every claim by default. They make money from people not wanting to deal with the rigmarole of getting their money back. I will be stopping payment, Chris is incredibly rude read more

I had an appointment to get my car fixed through State Farm, Hertz called the autobody shop to confirm the appointment, Hertz had a driver there and brought me to this location. When I got to the Hertz location there was no car there to rent to me. This Hertz location has very poor communication and scheduling skills, do not go there!!!! read more

Take some advice and never visit or do business with this location. I rented a vehicle and when I got there an hour before closing they told me they gave all the vehicles to an insurance company and there were no vehicles for me. I needed this vehicle in 12 hours for a trip. They offered other vehicles that were totally opposite of what I needed. I needed a vehicle now so told them to find me one and make this right. They were reluctant to do this but finally after about an hour they did call one other Hertz and they had something that might have worked. However, they were too far away to get there before they closed and they would not deliver it this location. Then I saw a vehicle in their lot that might have worked but he couldn't put it on the road. I asked what was wrong with it and it was a minor issue. So after a few minutes they said they would rent it. About 2 minutes letter they said no. 15 minutes later they said one of the vehicles that I needed just opened up. I told them to explain to me how that could happen. They had no explanation. I knew which vehicle they were going to offer because it would not work for me. He knew I had sons that were 6' 6'' riding with me. He offered me a vehicle with a small back seat with about 6" of leg room. He said I have fulfilled my obligation. You rented a vehicle like this and it fits that requirement. So I left without a vehicle. As I was leaving, he was running after me shaking his fist and yelling at me. As a result we called expedia, who we rented the vehicle through. They made some phone calls for me and found a vehicle for me at another Hertz and honored the price we paid. However, this ordeal took about 6 hours. When I was going through this the customer ahead of me said this happened to her too. Again, stay away from the Hertz at 2555 S. Broadway in Denver!! read more

Somehow our reservation got cancelled in the system when we never cancelled the reservation. We found this out only 2 hours before we were supposed to leave for our trip. We called and apparently there was an oversold situation in the city. We were livid, and I'm sure I was not pleasant to speak with, but Walter saved the day! He said he would call me back if he found anything and I really didn't think I'd be getting that call. He really bent over backwards and saved our trip. I cannot thank Walter enough for going above and beyond for us. He was so great! read more

Make sure you see Allen! Awesome manager, overall cool guy. I was stressed about being denied my reservation at budget (extremely unfriendly staff) and stressing about the cost, especially because tickets aren't cheap coming in from Hawaii! I was extremely tight on money and surprisingly Allen was able to rent me out a car CHEAPER than my quoted reservation price at budget! Everything was hassle-free. Best experience I've ever had renting a car. He was a very personable guy, empathized my situation, didn't push any extra add-ons on me and sent me on my way in an awesome Hyundai elantra in under 10 minutes. Definitely seeing this guy again if I'm ever in the area! read more

WORST customer service experience. My flight was delayed so I wasn't able to pick up my car since this location closes as 6pm. I had already paid for the car so i booked a hotel room to stay the night in Denver and pick up the car the next day. I called first thing in the morning only to find out they had given my car away without notifying me at all. No phone call, no email. I was headed to my cousins wedding so I HAD to have a car. There were no other cars available to rent that day in all of Denver so I had to have my family drive 3 hours out of the way to come get me. Dude on the phone was a jerk and not helpful AT ALL. Called Hertz HQ and they were a nightmare as well. I will never rent from them again!!! Dear Hertz, understand that canceling someones pre-paid rental car is no light matter. We were relying on that to get to my cousins wedding and had we not had family members in town this would have resulted in us missing the wedding. read more

Do not rent from this location! Just picking the rental car up was a fiasco. We had to pick the car up by 8:00 am because we had an appt. the clown working there left the store and left a note on the door that he had to step out. We waited for 20 minutes for him to get back! The original rental agreement was for three days. We asked for an extension through the weekend but were told that the car had to be back because it was due for an inspection. We took the car back on friday night and left the keys in the Dropbox. Then, we received a bill for a week rental! My husband called and spoke to Tyler in the office to clear things up. Tyler was not helpful at all and actually somewhat belligerent. He refused to reverse the charges. We are attempting to deal with this situation thoroughly the corporate office who has also proved to be very unhelpful. We are now disputing the charges through the credit card company. I'm also filing a complaint with the BBB. My husband has been a loyal Hertz customer for 15 years. We are flabbergasted by the lack of customer service with this situation. read more

Do not book online with Hertz. These guys are a total joke. We waited several days for a car with Sat Nav and then got one online. We received a booking ref that has no basis in reality. The staff in 2555 S Broadway said they do not get info from online company, they had no car with Sat Nav for us. Basically its pointless booking online, their own staff said this. They seemed resigned to having problems and were less than enthusiastic about their own company. They did offer a larger car for an extra $80 per day, cheers guys not!! Doesn't fill you full of promise does it eh. We are Irish tourists and we lost money through trips we organised but couldn't go on due to Hertz as well as time and effort, 2 trips to shop and going online. We even rang 1 hr before picking up car and staff told us it was there for us. Friendly but unhelpful. We were given a customer support number as I wished to show my dissatisfaction and still had hope that they could sort it out. Customer service directed us back to the original store, person at customer service had nothing to say, bit of a catch 22, (or a Hertz 22 perhaps). My boyfriend works for a top 10 American company who recomend Hertz all the time. We were very surprised at the bad service and lack of customer support No joy, very upsetting as we missed out on red rocks and rafting. A black stain on an otherwise fantastic holiday in Denver. Go Rockies!!! read more

I have a real trust issue with the people at this location! My car was hit by another driver whose insurance provided me with a rental car while my car was in the shop for repairs. On 4/10/2013, as instructed by Brad at this location, I returned the rental to the repair shop - Brad said returning it to the shop was as good as turning it in directly to Hertz, even though Hertz would not pick up the rental until the next day. The insurance company later advised me I was personally responsible for a 4/11 rental day cost. I contacted Brad at Hertz who told me on numerous occasions credits were being process for the 4/11 rental day since it was their mistake. Finally, after many phone conversations with Brad, on 5/13 I told him since a credit had not appeared on my credit card I was disputing the $34.95 charge with my credit card company. American Express just notified me Hertz is crediting the $34.95 charge to my credit card. It is a small amount BUT the fact I was lied to several times that credits had been processed I felt it only appropriate to dispute the charge and am I glad I did! Moral of the story, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING FROM THE PEOPLE AT THIS LOCATION. read more

Wish I could give them a 0. Absolutely disgusted with the service here. I had a reservation to be picked up at 4:45 at an auto body shop. When I called them at 4:45, they said someone else had a reservation at the same place i was at and they would just have the guy take me back to the facility to get my car. The guy shows up about 5:15 (30 minutes late for me and the other customer!) and he gives the guy the car. He then tells me that the other car to drive us back in, is 3 miles away so he has to run and go get it. So then, after about 45 minutes he comes back empty handed! "The other car was taken back to the facility on Saturday"..... It's now 30 minutes passed the auto body shops closing time. He said it would be another 20 minutes, so I said screw it and called enterprise! No problems with them at all!! When I called the Hertz center, I got hung up on twice. It was nothing but excuses and crap. I will NEVER recommend hertz to anyone. read more
