The traffic and parking logistics are horrendous. For the Santana concert on 9/19, it took over an hour to go 2 miles and park. Cash only ($25) for parking. Seriously? Just add $25 on the ticket and collect that. Then let the parking be free. This would speed it up. And.... how much of that $25 cash is pilfered? Crazy system. Most attendees missed over 30 minutes of the show. I will probably never attend another event at Hertz. Not worth it! read more

We went to the Mercy Me concert last night, it was not a great experience-THE ENTIRE poor excuse of a sound crew NEED to be FIRED, every time the bands were singing you could NOT understand a WORD, it was so MUFFLED and ECHOED, and a little when they were just talking. We complained to arena staff and we were told "the sound ppl in middle of floor are in charge of it and nothing can be done"-how are they in the middle of the floor and NOT HEAR how BAD it was, if people are paying so much money for the concert we should be able to understand the words being sung, and the music should also sound better, you could KIND OF make out when they played the music what song it should be, but again the sound quality was AWEFUL-PLEASE FIRE THE SOUND CREW. They clearly are incompetent and unable to do their job. We were at Mercy ME concert in 2020 was an awesome experience, and that sound crew actually knew how to do their job, was so much better. And being ripped off $25 CASH FOR PARKING and where they try to get you to go at first with NO handicapped parking EVEN though they had the nerve when we asked are there handicapped spots and she says yes, and (if your in a van is with a ramp for your scooter) your screwed, since people park about 1-2 feet away from your vehicle in the parking stalls then you have to walk up to and talk to the parking people to ACTUALLY get into the handicapped parking spots around building. It has made us NEVER go to another concert of anything at HERTZ arena-to be ripped of for the concert experience, and poor parking experience. In town on vacation and our friends took us to the hockey game. Had a great time and the venue was a contributing factor in our enjoyment. Parking was easy and short walk from the general parking. Food options were plentiful and below the average cost from other stadiums. Seating was good, doesn't appear there are any bad seats. Activities and fan experience was great. I've came to see the Everblades a few times and also been known to watch wrestling along with 4th of July fireworks. Big boy tech and toy shows, a few RV shows. They have had concerts, Disney on ice, along with the circus here as well. Its close enough to both Ft. Myers and Naples. Parking is plentiful but the bottle necks are in the roads around not being able to handle the volume of every one leaving all at the same time. Nightmare experience. We splurged on pricey to see Nate Bargatze. It took one hour just to get into the parking lot. Surprise charged of $33! Hustle to the door because we were now made late only to be told purses go back to the car. It should have said that on the tix! Get into the stadium thirsty and needing to use the lav but the line is too long for both. Drinking fountains were turned off!!!!! I thought we paid for decent seats. They were so far from the stage we watched the screen the whole time. Then, wait for it, it was one more hour to get out of the arena. One hour! We should have stayed home and watched Nate on Netflix. I wrote to the arena and emailed them w/ no response. read more

I will never understand why 10 employees have to stand at the glass between sections 114 and 115 during a hockey game. 5 or 6 are always checking their Facebook or email accounts. This is unfair to fans who have paid for row four or five seats. This happens every game. read more

Germain Arena is Home of Fort Myers's Florida Everblades hockey team in town. Germain is also a hurricane shelter for the area. The arena hosts several different events, IE. music concerts, special travailing events, home inprovement shows ext. The arena normally will have a parking fee between 5-20 dollars depending on the event. Germain has concession stands for your food and drink needs. Went to Hertz arena for an Everblades hockey game. The team lost but our server, Emily at the Breakaway Bar was AMAZING! She helped me deal with the woes of a losing game by starting us off with drinks as soon as we walked in. Originally was not going to get food but she showed us a menu and recommended a few items, we were sold! Food was great and fresh out the oven. if you plan on going to a game, don't even sit in your ticketed seats. Go straight upstairs to the Breakaway Bar and REQUEST Emily. Was completely unimpressed with this rink. Every thing was concrete. Needed a good cleaning and a paint job. It was dark and smelled bad. The bathrooms were kinda scary. Just a concrete box with some plywood partitions. I'm sure rates vary by event. But I paid $27 a day to attend a skating competition. Plus $10 a day to park. And no multi day discounts. The employees seemed pretty clueless about how a skating competition worked - couldn't understand why we would want to leave and come back between events. On top of that it was crap ice. Soft. Slippery. Unfortunately US Figure Skating decides where competitions are held. So I have no say in whether or not I will be back. I hope not. read more

Security is a nightmare and claiming that they are taking certain safety precautions is a joke. In the future I will drive to Tampa or West Palm for shows instead. I showed up with jacket and wallet in hand. Woman holds up a postcard to my wallet and says it's "too big." Woman, after woman, is getting turned away. We are a mile from our car so we go behind a tree, take all the contents out of my wallet, stuff them into my jacket pockets, tuck the wallet into y boyfriends pocket, and enter the arena. No one checked his pockets, or mine. How is this safer? Also the rule is insensitive to anyone with a vagina. Tampons fit into our wallets, that's why we carry them in our wallets. Apparently an email was sent out with their "rules", however day of event is not enough time to let people know about idiotic rule changes. So many people were being turned away to return their wallets and purses to their cars that people were getting into the show late which was so disruptive and frustrating. It's a disappointing change for the arena and I have no doubt will drive away busy. Not to mention, their food and beverage prices are so high. Only the wealthy can afford a fun night out at this rinky dink arena. read more

I've been going to concerts for 40+ years.... this venue was new to me, but NEVER in my life was I not allowed to even bring in my wallet!!! it's a rock and roll concert - Bathroom lines CRAZY long and left with no toilet tissue and garbage all over the place!!!!! Ladies were seen going to the men's room because the lines were shorter!!! and forget if you stayed until the last note of the last song - with the lack of parking, and people parking on the lawn - the masses took forever to leave!!! Liked having variety in my beverage choices, but stands were too far apart and inbetween stage times was just too much of a hassle - ALSO, since it is south florida, where ME being 45-50 years ago I was one of the YOUNGEST at the show.... So lemme tell ya that you need more bathrooms and stop with the crazy bag policies - They aren't even that bad to go to an NFL game!!! Stop the madness!!! read more

Tonight was my first official Yelp Event. We had the opportunity to go attend the Cirque Du Soleil and even had great seething. For they next few hours we a very exciting show with some very talented performers that do things that I can only dream about. Poorly managed parking, Traffic Control and arena access security. 1.5 hrs to enter Hertz Arena parking. Single lane entry with a sole attendant collecting $25 for hundreds of cars. Absence of Estero Traffic Control exacerbated access flow with aggressive drivers cutting into cued traffic. Arena entry security was lax, some allowed to enter with bags others told no bags other than clear. Some patrons waved through metal detector despite alarm. Inside of the venue the security was strong keeping isles and stairways clear. If you go the Hertz Arena give yourself plenty of time to just enter parking. read more

Could not get into Hetz Arena due to traffic at all sides of parking entrys at least coming in from the north at Estero Blvd, missed the first HOUR of Santana! We assumed that they delayed the show to get all of us in line into the show but NO, Hertz management could care less. read more

Parking and traffic is a horror show! I recently went to Santana concert and for $20 parking fees it was poorly managed!! One person collecting fee ... no traffic control.. I called the police because it was dangerous.. people making their own rules!! They need to revamp the entire system.Despite coming early we missed some of the show..The clear plastic bag rule doesn't give room for feminine products and inhaler , no room for phone or keys. I enjoy going to concerts but between overly priced parking snd poorly managed traffic I don't attend this arena for concerts anymore!!! read more

Truly disappointed with this site. Went to see Jeff Dunham arrived with over an hour to show time and couldn't believe the traffic piled-up outside the arena that only had a two lane entrance into the parking lot. Besides the cars piling up to try to get in, there was limited access to the entrances of this facility. The true concern was over 8000 people and only two doors into this arena made for really unsafe situation. The bathrooms were clean and fully stocked. I will say, the concession stand had great fries, hot dogs that were really hot, and quick efficient service. Although, the pizza was nasty and under-cooked. Loved the pretzels. The show was excellent, but the exit out of this arena was an absolute nightmare. Again, a parking lot with only one lane of traffic to exit. Took over 30 minutes to get out of the parking space alone!! Why? No traffic moving. This spot needs some real management to update the entrances and exiting of this establishment for the cars and for the people. Heading further north into Tampa for future shows. read more

Excellent for its size and demonstrates just the right amount of awe for what the arena features: ECHL hockey. I mean, sitting on the ice for Bruins game at the Garden is going to carry more majesty, but it's all about scale, right? If Germain were a modern Colosseum, the gladiators would be untrained teens and the caspian lions replaced with very large, angry dogs. Concessions are a premium, yet still ringing in lower than larger markets - $5-6 for a beer, $3 for a pretzel or a bag of nuts. Whereas $20 might net shitty nachos and a single brew at Fenway, here you feast like Nero. If anything exemplifies the benefit of a smaller space, it's the seats and ice visibility. We plopped down in our designated row, four back from the boards and just beside the visitor box. Probably should strapped on skates and taped up a stick - we felt like we were in the game. Every slap shot, shoulder check and snippet of smack talk played out in stereo, and the robust speaker setup made sure Nickelback crooned during play breaks. Just kidding, Nickelback sucks. And when I found out these seats ran a peedly $15, the jaw fell agape. I recognize Florida rocks sunshine like Vegas bleeds hookers, but in the same vein, there's only so much of that you can take. Find some friends, carpool (parking is a little tight for busy games) and hit the ice for an entertaining - and stupid cheap - three hours of Everblades play. -------- Disclaimer: Last night's game against Trenton finished with a bench-clearing brawl. I came with my family to watch Disney on ice. This was my first time ever in the arena and I have mixed feelings. The good thing about this arena is that it isn't very big so anywhere you sit you are getting a good view. Parking also wasn't too bad they have ample parking and is pretty well coordinated with the staff but leaving the event was a different story. Leaving the event was chaos cars goin different directions making u turns in the middle of the parking lanes. I don't think they had staff coordinating the exit of the vehicles as they did the entering of them. Some of the negatives was the seating isn't very big so you don't have much space to sit and you are literally shoulder to shoulder with the person next to you. Not all seats have cup holders which was surprising too. Pricing at the food stands was pretty average to what you pay at any sporting event. read more

This is a great arena for watching hockey (and other indoor sports; I've watched arena football, bull riding, boxing, MMA and basketball at this arena), and that's what I'll be reviewing it as. There's really not a bad seat in the house, although I'll admit to a preference for the cheap seats on the end of the rink -- partly for the price, and partly for the ability to view the action from enough of a distance to take it all in. There's no such thing as a nosebleed seat here -- the back row is probably only 20 rows from the front. Concession prices are... well, it's a sporting event. It's not cheap, but it's not nearly as expensive as at other places -- expect to pay $6 for a beer, $2.50 for a pretzel, etc. Expensive, but not nearly as much as the other major arenas in Florida. There are often specials, such as last season's dollar Wednesdays ($1 hot dogs and $1 Budweiser drafts for an hour before the game), and combo packs (4 tickets, 4 dogs, and 4 sodas for $44 is a common one). Get on the mailing list to find out about deals! There are 2 on-site restaurants; the Big Cypress Club, which is members-only on game nights, and Breakaway Sports Pub, where you can reserve a table with your ticket (the pub is also open for happy hour after games). The food there is a nice step up from the arena. The arena recently updated their scoreboard, as well; where they once had a 16-color, low-res board, they now have a vibrant LED board showing replays and such in full color. My one beef is parking and getting off-site after a game. On-site parking is $5 -- again, a bargain for a sporting event. However, you often wind up in overflow parking on the grass! Whoever designed this parking lot somehow expected to fit 6000-7000people into 2000 parking spots. Not happening. When you leave the arena, there's only 3 ways into the lot (2 exits onto Ben Hill Griffin, and 1 to Miramar Outlets, next door), and there's horrible traffic jams leaving, all the time, Would it kill the arena to have some staff directing traffic out of the lot into the exits? However, one nice thing -- there's always police officers directing traffic on Ben Hill Griffin, so once you're in the exit lane, it's easy to leave. All in all, it's a top-flight facility for minor league hockey, and a good multi-sport arena for other events; as I said above, I've seen everything from MMA to bull riding, to the circus at this facility, and it's been good for all of them. read more

Con's - On the older side - Lower Bowl seats look dirty - Food is over priced - Not very clean Pro's - Perfect size for all events - Family friendly - Helpful staff and employees - Cozy - Good location - Lots of restrooms - Helpful to handicapped people Germain Arena is home to many family friendly events. It's main event is the Florida Everblades who are a part of the ECHL. Definitely check out Germain Arena when staying in the area Ft. Myers area. read more

Had a very good time here recently for Cirque du Soleil Crystal show. Haven't been to Germain since I almost broke my tailbone trying to impress a girl when I was 19 and didn't know how to skate. The folks in the show certainly did! I was a bit disappointed when my fiance's mother wanted a pretzel but was told it would be at least five minutes. I was planning to pay to prove I was a suitable suitor for her daughter but the intermission of the show didn't allow a reasonable time and thus she went hungry. I've since resorted to sending her funny photos via text to prove my worth. Visiting here soon for another event but do not intend on paying the ridiculous parking fees. Will save money by breaking my lease and moving closer to walking distance. read more

I don't know why I keep buying tickets to events at this arena. It literally is always the worst experience from trying to park, to getting drinks, to finding seats, to the bag rule, to no soap or paper towels in the bathrooms. We waited to park for over 30 min and then the lot was full and the made us park down the street. It's the most disorganized and frustrating experience. Such a shame for SWFL. Whoever is in charge has no idea how to run an event. read more

The hockey game was great. This facility though needs work. Germain Arena is old and it's time for an overhaul. They just need to bring it up to date. The food though is another matter. it's just awful We had a group of twenty and thought it would be nice to have dinner in the arena before the game. That was a huge mistake. The buns for the chicken sandwiches were hard and the french fries were really bad. Never ever order food for your group in the arena. It's that bad. Plan a dinner in one of the nearby places in Miromar. The hockey game was a 5-start event. The arena itself is 2-stars. The food barely reached one star. read more

The ownership change from Germain to Hertz has really changed tremendously. Forget about using a debit/credit card. Needed to turn around to get cash to pay to park. New bag policy, not displayed on all ticket vendors such as Groupon. We're denied entry due to small clutch wallet for having "too large of a bag." I am all for security, and clear bag policy but, this was never advertised. If you didn't have a car to return your bag, good luck, you will not be able to attend your hard ticket show. Once we returned our 8x10 clutch wallets to the car, we returned back to security where we were suspiciously searched with our tiny wallet. Unreal! Staff is unfriendly and unpleasant. Don't drive there in a nice vehicle for ANY event! The spaces are on top of each other and right after I got out of my truck there is a family getting out of their car with their doors up against the car next to them. A three hour crappy hockey game isn't worth a new paint job on your vehicle. The parking staff were also rude when I was telling him why I didn't want to park where he wanted me to and didn't understand at all and wanted me kicked out because he ran his mouth and I just walked by him not saying anything! I went to see blues guitar man Joe Bonamassa recently. This was my second time at the arena and I had seats in section 106 above and behind the sound board. Seat distance from the stage was great. But the seats were narrow and cramped. I fly often and i have had coach seats that were bigger. We had No cup holders. I got to know my neighbor better than I wanted because we were in constant physical contact for the whole show with no way to avoid. We actually took turns leaning forward to allow the other to lower their shoulders to a normal position. The band put on an awesome performance. The acoustics were horrible and secondary sound waves and echos just killed the overall quality. We couldn't understand 90% of the lyrics and couldn't hear anything clearly. Bass, horns, backup singer and keyboards were a mash of echoing sound. The sound was better out by the concessions than inside the arena. So buy a ticket and just stand by the concession stand. In my humble opinion this venue should have concerts in the parking lot. Build a stage, put up a tent and the sound will be awesome. Leave the arena for hockey and home shows. This was the last time I plan to see a concert here. Getting to and from venue is easy. Although $20 to park seemed steep. read more
