The place is definitely showing it's age. The skate rink seems a bit run down and neglected. Along with the decaying atmosphere, the staff, if you can find someone, are either all teenagers or unprofessional management hiding in the back. The place might be salvageable but needs investment and new management. This place needs so refurbishing. We stopped in after trying to figure out where to take the kids I had some family meet up after calling and making sure they weren't busy which they said they were not. We showed and paid for skates which the price wasn't too bad even with online skates, for inside and the place was packed! After debating on leaving we decided to stay grabbed our skates and hit the floor luckily it wasn't to busy we were able to go around a couple times but there were some kids with shoes on stepping out onto the skating rink! I reported it to the front and she made an announcement but even after they still had kids out there who were very young. My daughters went here for a school event, dropped off by a relative. My older daughter was not skating so they would not let her in. When I called, the man who worked there said it is their rule and it's because she's not 18. When I had to leave work to come and pick her up, I tried to talk to the manager, who was an incredibly nasty woman. She said someone from my daughter's school told her she had to leave, and it's the schools rule. The opposite of what one of her employees told me over the phone. She also told my daughter she couldn't even stand in the lobby until I got there, and it was pouring rain. And the manager lied to my face and said nobody told her that, when my daughter pointed her out and said she's even the one that said it. They do not care about children's safety, honesty, or customer service clearly. read more

Have been coming to Astro Skate for many years. Our most recent experience they are doing a much better job with cleanliness and have added a few video games. Better music please! Wish they would take more pride in how they maintain skates. Simply replace damaged laces so we can skate more safely. read more

This establishment has a very cute and old-timey feel to it. It has been around for some time and it is noticeable but I think that gives it character. When we went it was for its anniversary so they had a great deal where we each skated for $2. They have good deals throughout the week and you can find them on their weekly schedule through their website. Their schedule also lets you know when they have specific events for certain groups like adults or teenagers. This is useful to check before going with young kids because the rink can get dangerous for them in these instances. We didn't purchase food or drinks but from what I observed it is the kind you would expect at a place like this. Amusement place junk food really. They also have arcade style games and prizes. This is a great place for birthdays too if you want to reserve for an event. They play fun music and even have a disco ball above the skating rink and colorful lights. Then I witnessed a floor guard, flirting with underage minors. Parents really caution yourselves if you're sending your children to this location. I can't believe after 20 years I still know how to skate! This is a great little skating location - perfect for the beginner and great for birthday parties. They serve a bunch of different foods, have a practice area for the first time skaters, and even offer lessons and skating trainers for little ones trying to build confidence out on the floor. It was $8 to skate and a few dollars extra to rent skates. Sunday's they have a time where skating is just $1. What can you buy for $1 anymore? This is a fun place for people to skate at. They have trainers - I guess that is what it is called, for people that don't know how to skate- meaning rolling walkers. There is an area in the back for kids to practice skating in. I'm not thrilled with their food at the concession stand. Typical food for this kind of establishment. I do think it's a great place for children's birthday parties and there seem to be many of them. There are some hours that get busy where teenagers and adults skate fast, so if you have a child that is learning how to skate- call ahead of time to find out the slower paced hours. read more

I highly recommend not going to this facility. They neglect to maintain a safe environment for our children. My daughter went during the summer in June and broke her wrist from the skating rink's neglectful environment. The ceiling was leaking so they used a large garbage can to catch the leaking water. The garbage can was on the skating rink surface and in the way of the skaters. In order for one of the skaters to avoid hitting the garbage can, he bumped into my daughter which made her fall and break her wrist. I am currently in litigation over this unfortunate circumstance whereas the rink is not following through with their responsibility. Since then they still have yet to fix the issues and I now have pictures and video of four garbage cans on the skating rink surface and ceiling tiles falling. This facility needs to be closed until they take initiative to fix their building. read more

We ordered a pizza at 1:20pm, got it in before the birthday party received their 10 pizzas. The girl at the counter said it would be a few minutes, after about 45 minutes, I went up and checked. She said it will be out in a few more minutes. I went back again a half-hour later and they said they burnt it, went back again after half hour and they said that they were making it again...bottom line it came out disgusting! Almost 2 hours to get a pizza! 7 people, and four slices left over! The manager, who was extremely unprofessional, immature, trashy, kept talking over me, when I was actually trying to tell her cashier girl, not to tell people it will be a few minutes, even though it was not her fault and I agreed, she rudely cut me off and told me I was screaming at the little girl. Furthest from the truth, she threatened me that there were cameras recording me, I'd love to see the video so we can show how extremely rude she was. I have never in my whole life have ever gotten into an argument with anybody out in public, this was a disgrace! All the children I was with, were embarrassed and scared! If you know anything about the hospitality industry, you listen to your customers, you take the time to hear what they have to say, instead of rudely interrupting them. I am just floored!!! I don't know who your boss is, but they need to fire you! If you could hear what I was saying to the cashier girl, you would've known that I was not yelling at her. Don't bother if you have kids. They have a lot of items for sale, but ever time my daughters pick out the one they want, we are told "sorry we are out, it's only for display". By the referral of a friend, I took my son here for a skate lesson (for only $8). Please be advised that there is a sign on the door that they only accept cash. This is your typical traditional skating rink (nothing new or fancy); with old chewed gum stuck on benches. We were directed to the skate rentals for the lesson where we met the instructor Mr. Dick. Nice older guy who's VERY serious about what he does. This class was for ALL ages so the range was from 2yrs to maybe 40ish. Yet, in my opinion Mr. Dick was better suited to teach adults only because when teaching children you have to have more patience & can't be as harsh (younger children can be sensitive). Anyway, I liked Mr. Dick....very nice guy & he knows technique. Haven't decided yet if I feel comfortable with the group lesson or if I'd rather schedule private lessons. Either way we'll return. Also, there was a huge bouncy house in the middle of the skating rink. What was that about? Was it for a party? Was it safe & appropriate with other skating around it...IDK. read more

Make sure you bring your own skates. Astro skate doesn't put ANY money into maintaining their skates so that they are safe. I had to get a refund and leave last time I was here because every single pair of skates I tried on were missing insoles, (your foot went right on metal) falling apart, laces cut and too short to tie, and crooked/wobbley wheels which made it impossible to even skate safely. After I exchanged a few times the girl behind the desk was like "they're all like that". Now I didn't expect them to be perfect but there was not one single pair of skates in even a fair condition?? Come on. Everybody on the rink floor were constantly tripping/falling from the rental skates being unsafe. Completely unacceptable! Put some money into fixing/replacing your skates if you're going to charge to rent them. Also, we went during the day there were lots of young children and the DJ was playing gangster rap the whole time without bleeping out the swear words. So the short time we were there my young daughter got to hear music about popping pills and getting b**ches. Unless you make some serious changes to make this a safe environment and kid friendly like it should be, because it certainly has the potential to be- we won't be back and tell everyone how this place operates. read more

Attended this rink for a speed skate meet of the regular speed skating circuit, very disappointed with the snack bar not having food to last the whole meet for kids skating and the spectators. Sodas were more c02 than syrup making them taste awful. No bananas for the skaters providing them with nutrition between races which certainly parents would have purchased, I know I usually purchase a bunch supplying the team with them and usually at a price of 1.00 each, a profit for the rink since they can be purchased .29 a lb almost anywhere. Water was only available out of a vending machine which was out of bottled water. Food ie pizza and some fried foods that showed on menu were unavailable by 10:30 am customers being told they were out and the fryer was broken. Yet as the meet was winding down about 1:30 the snack bar began making pizza's for the afternoon session of regular skating will boycott this rink always from now on. read more
