This place was great! We were on vacation and my son, who is An amazing skater, has to hit every local rink we visit. He told me halfway through his session that this was the cleanest and nicest rink we've visited outside of his home rink in Charlotte (Kate's Skates). They do a great job at vacuuming the off rink areas and keeping the skate floor clean and shined. Price of entry was great and concessions were at a good price point as well. Spoke to the owner a bit and he clearly loves the sport/activity and it shows. Super knowledgeable and shared with us about all the rinks in Florida to visit for future trips. Was also the ONLY place we found that was open on a Monday, when most rinks are closed. Next time we are in Central Florida, will definitely stop by here again. Very impressed!

The walls are hues of yellows and blues that come from a JC Penny catalog circa 1990. The skate floor is a faded blue, and the sound of clanking roller skates fills the area only to be drowned out by the blasting music of contemporary pop hits. The sounds clash between yesterday and today. There are a few phone screens that glow underneath hand-drawn cartoon characters. But that's the charm. Galaxy Skateway doesn't pretend to be something new. It embraces what it is, a time capsule of what life was like. Going to the snack bar, you're greeted with a menu board with plastic blue letters, and you get a discount when you pay with cash. When my daughters walked into the skate rink, one thing that stood out was how many people were just... skating. People weren't on the sidelines looking at screens. All that was there was a DJ and simple skating games like Four Corners and Stoplight. Cliché songs from the 90s like "The Macarena" played as people rolleed past, all under the flashing neon lights. To me, it was a piece of nostalgia for a time long since gone. It doesn't have updated features and the building looks straight out of the 90s, but that's the point. You don't go to Galaxy Skateway to experience the 21st century. You go there to experience what life was like before Steve Jobs walked out on stage with his iPhone.

They do have a really small area for Kids, begginers just to learn how to stand up. My roller broke the straps, so I rented there, didn't like they were wet (they do spray odoban or something similar when you return, wish was powdered) The music and the lights are really great, the downside it's they have just one ring, so all together pros, beginners, people who barely stand. When my wife when to the lady up front to claim all of this , the lady in front didn't cooperate for refund, only stating "umm well they only tell me what to charge and everyone pays here!" Like are you serious? And we demanded to speak to the owner and she didn't want to call the owner , but only handed over 2 complimentary vouchers for next time! It's a matter of principle and we were owed $12 bucks yes not a big deal but it's all about ethics! Like why don't you guys go on and skate your way out of here cuz the only track they got is robbing people. Truly awful and looks like they got more reflecting to do based on their service

If you used to…read morego skating when you were a child and are looking for some nostalgia this is definitely the spot to hit. We took our daughter here recently to get some wiggles out and just enjoy learning a new skill. She's only been skating a few times around our neighborhood and we thought that this would be an immersive way to get her into the hobby. Definitely check out their calendar of events and when they have good offers and deals. You're likely to score a cheaper price than regular pricing if you pay attention. They also have themed nights and exclusive school nights. You can bring your own skates but you'll need to make sure that they pass the skate check. They do have some limitations on skates you bring in to ensure that their floors don't get torn up. As a side note you'll also want to make sure you bring in identification for all adults, and leave any food or drinks that come from outside in your car. Learned both of these the hard way. They have a smaller child skating area that helps them learn before they get out onto the bigger floor. Our daughter enjoyed this so that she had a little bit of time to learn before being thrown into a large space. We did have her try out the large space after about an hour of practice. They also have a limited number of arcade games, a small cafe, and a birthday party room. Overall: A Well it is a bit dated and could use some upgrades, it brings with it all the nostalgia of my childhood so it was still a win. I would definitely come back for a visit but try again on a non weekend day when the pricing is a little bit lower.

It's definitely a fun, lively spot, there were a lot of birthday parties happening, and I could see it being a great venue for a kids' birthday celebration. The arcade games are a nice touch, and they even do fun activities like limbo on the rink. The only downside was the wait for skates, it took a while to get ours. Unfortunately, the only in-line skates available in my size had a broken buckle, which made skating a bit uncomfortable. Other than that, it was a really enjoyable experience and I'd definitely consider coming back!

Astro Skate is not a looker from outside (hot pink painted building with a hot pink spray painted old school bus parked beside it), but it was packed on the Saturday we were there for a kid's birthday party, so they're not hurting for business. Skaters check-in at the front and pay for their skates and a roller skating trainer (some PVC pipes with wheels that rents for $5 a pop and proved invaluable to most of the kids at the party). You're then buzzed into the main area where there's a bar with pizza oven, an area with tables for parties, a practice room, and the big skating rink. It's all pretty dated, but that kind of works for the nostalgia that is evoked at a roller skating rink. I didn't try the pizza, but had a french fry or two and they were surprisingly good. The main event aka the skating rink: The music is fun, there are black lights everywhere, and everyone was respecting the single direction of skating, which was great because kids were everywhere! They even had a bounce house at one end of the rink! At one point they called everyone to the center to make a circle and bring out the big mascot: Party Panda. These kids were HYPED and instructed to cheer as the masked character skated out onto the rink. I have to be honest, it was comical how unenthused the hot pink panda was as they slowly skated to the center and barely lifted their hand high enough to give the kids high fives when instructed. It was truly something out of a movie (lol). I guess even mascots have bad days? It was a bummer for the kids though and definitely a WHOMP WHOMP moment after all the hype for Party Panda. Overall, it was fine and the kids had a great time. Would I return for a date night or find a more updated rink? Probably the latter.
