You get to pick your piece, choose your colors, and paint at your own pace, which makes it perfect whether you're planning a date, a girls' day, or a solo outing. I came by myself as a little self-care adventure and honestly, it was exactly what I needed. I got in my head at first, but I just wanted to feel like a kid again, and this place made that easy. The staff was kind, patient, and genuinely helpful, which made the whole experience feel extra special and stress-free. They guide you without hovering, and they're great at answering questions if you're not sure what to do next. Just a heads up: your piece needs to be fired, so it takes about a week to get it back, but it's totally worth the wait. If you want a relaxing, creative activity and a memorable keepsake at the end, Get Fired Up Pottery is absolutely worth visiting.

We made a reservation for four people and were very excited to paint some pottery. The young lady…read morewho greeted us, told us we would be sitting at table #8 as she pointed to it. She then told us to look on both sides of the long shelves and pick a ceramic piece that we wanted to paint. They had a nice variety of pottery to choose from. We each took our time selecting our pieces. They were pricier than we expected. I paid a little over $100 for two small pieces (a turtle & a sun). My sister paid about $27 for a small leaf dish to put small trinkets on. After we all had our pieces, the young woman came out from behind the counter, showed us were the brushes were, how to pick the colors we want to use, and told us that the colors will ultimately look like the colors on the wall. She then said to make sure we give it four coats of paint, then she let us begin. We had a lot of fun painting and talking amongst our group. We even were able to walk across the street to see the Artemis II blast off before going back in to finish painting. One improvement that we would like to see would be more interaction/assistance between the staff and the customers. We would have liked to be given more guidance as to how to paint some of the more intricate areas of the pottery pieces. I, for one, wasn't sure which brush was the best to use on certain areas which caused some frustration. I do hope to return sometime to see if these areas are addressed.

Sadly, since the new ownership took over, the experience has drastically gone downhill. On their most recent visit, they were told--quite abruptly--that moving forward they would only be allowed to come in twice per piece, and that painting must be completed within six months of purchase. This was never a policy before, and the way it was communicated felt aggressive and unwelcoming. Disheartened by the interaction, they decided it would be their last time visiting Mimi's. To make matters worse, when they were called to say their pieces had finished firing, they were informed one of them had broken--without a hint of an apology. The only "resolution" offered was a gift card for the original value or nothing at all. When they went to pick up what was left of the piece, the owner was present and still didn't offer a single apology. This is not the kind of customer service or family-friendly environment we used to know and love. It's deeply disappointing to see such a treasured place become so unaccommodating and indifferent toward long-time customers. We will be taking our business--and our loyalty--to one of the many other paint-your-own studios in the area that still prioritize kindness, flexibility, and community. And when leaving a review on google to express these issues, it felt like we were responded to with a chatgpt answer, because it wasn't even being addressed to the correct person. Which felt even more impersonal.

And unless you…read moreget there as soon as you open you're not getting a seat or your sitting with some random family. Which by the way kids are running around like it's a playground and they don't say anything about it. The place lacks any kind of etiquette for other people. The parking is awful as well. One way and only a couple of spaces almost got hit backing out. It's also behind the building. On top of that the staff bothers you the entire time. I also played music on my phone since there wasn't anything playing and people where talking at the top of their lungs and kids running around so I was trying to make my experience better. I was told to turn my music off which it wasn't even loud. She the proceeded to put on a speaker that didn't work and was static and music no one knew. There is no order to the ceramics either and you're rushed to pick one because people are walking everywhere and I almost dropped one when picking it out because someone pulled a chair out and hit me. Plus the ceramics are over priced. For a tiny trinket box it was almost 30 dollars. Plus they give you the colors which are mixed together usually and they don't clean the paint brushes. The chairs are also hard and wood so hope you don't want to sit there for a while. They also require you to pay before hand which doesn't bother me but it took forever to get someone's attention and it's not clear who works there and who is just walking around aimlessly. If you want a place for you kids to run around and not professional at all this is the place for you! Editied: We got the ceramics back and they where NOT finsihed in the kelm. The inside was squishy and there was a chip off the bottom.

Meaning, you can spend all day perfecting your masterpiece if you'd like. It's also BYO food, drinks, etc. or they have a small selection of snacks and drinks if you prefer. The staff are incredibly helpful by explaining the process step by step and are willing to provide a helping hand and even suggestions if needed. We painted a couple plates for Christmas and couldn't be happier with our experience and the memories created. No previous painting experience needed. Highly recommend!
