Same old crap every year. Same vendors. Same pigs. Same food. The only thing that isn't the same is the admission.

We took our time wandering the pathways, admiring the beautiful habitats thoughtfully designed for each species. There's a strong focus on birds, and the variety here is impressive -- vibrant parrots, graceful flamingos, and so many unique feathered residents. Just as we made it to the final exhibit with the crocodiles, an announcement came over the speakers warning of lightning in the area. Guests were directed back to the gift shop for safety, and the staff began offering rain checks or refunds depending on when you arrived. We didn't inquire about either, though -- we had already thoroughly enjoyed our time there, and since the Wonder Gardens is a nonprofit organization, we were happy to support them regardless. Before leaving, we browsed the gift shop, which had a fantastic selection of animal-themed souvenirs, cute décor, and even artwork created by the resident animals -- such a unique touch. If you're in the area, Wonder Gardens is absolutely worth a stop. It's charming, educational, and your admission supports ongoing rescue and rehabilitation efforts. If you're interested in getting even closer to the animals, they also offer scheduled animal encounters, so be sure to check ahead for times.

Yes, they have a rideable train that goes on a one mile loop that circles out and back! The train tickets are purchased at the museum office and for us, only $5 each. The nice lady who sold the tickets let us know that the train would be departing in about 20 minutes at that gave us plenty of time to explore the museum, perusing the exhibits and watching the miniature train sets circle the table. Other than my Mom, I think I was probably the oldest person on the train and we both had a complete blast. The ride takes 15 minutes and sweeps through a number of similarly miniature villages and over clang-clang-clang railroad crossings and even through a 100 foot long tunnel. It's extremely cute and for $5, how can you possibly not enjoy yourself! Afterwards, there are outdoor exhibits that include a cosmetically restored 1905 locomotive and tender, and a completely restored caboose. Tip: Check ahead for their hours of operation. They are only open on weekends (and Labor Day!). Rides on the train are first come first serve. You'll have a better ride closer to the front if you can. A railroad enthusiast must-see in Fort Myers, Florida This…read moreSpecial attraction is located inside the Lakes Regional Park which is located off Gladiolus Drive and Old Gladiolus Drive. The park has several places to see and visit. There is a large parking lot so parking should not be a problem. The Railroad Museum and railroad are to the right as you enter. The museum is hard to miss as there is a large railroad engine visible from the parking lot that is across the walkway from a large building that houses the museum. The museum is inside a building behind the jungle gym next to the parking lot. The museum is free. It is a large room with several operating scale trains running around the center and near the roof. There is at least one hands-on display that you can see the operating console for an engineman. There are lots of informational displays situated around the room describing the history of trains and the railroad museum. There is a lot to read and a lot of history associated with trains, Florida, and the Fort Myers area. If you have a chance, I highly recommend spending a few dollars and getting a ticket to ride the train right outside the museum. For any train enthusiast this is a must-see in the area.

Absolutely. The look on my grandkids faces was priceless. So I will suffer with another virus for them. We did a 2 night stay by using a Groupon. Thank you Groupon. It made it affordable which is always a plus. The only reason I gave it a 4 is the overall affordability. It's a very pricey place. You pay for everything outside of what you pay for your room. Thank goodness it includes the waterpark passes. That was primarily why we were there. And we all enjoyed every minute. Outside of the water park we spent a lot of time in the Arcade. It was a lot of fun. A lot of tickets won and they walked away with some great prizes. Over all our stay was good. Room was nice and spacious. And comfortable. The activities on the lobby for the kids were great. Especially the story time. Watching our 2 year old grandson enjoy that was priceless.

We purchased the Wolf Pass so we could experience everything together, but my daughter ended up running into a friend from school and spent a lot of time playing with her. In hindsight, I probably could've just gotten the pass for her. The indoor water park stays nice and warm, so you don't have to worry about the weather at all. The wave pool, slides, and overall setup were perfect for kids. My daughter especially loved the slides and the ropes course which even included a small zip line. We also tried MagiQuest, which was a fun interactive game with wands and quests throughout the lodge. We didn't spend a ton of time on it, but it was still a cool experience. One thing I'll say for parents with only children considering a trip like this...do it. Your child will make friends. There are kids everywhere, and it's a very social, family-friendly environment. The only downside for me was the food. There are plenty of on-site options, but the quality was inconsistent. The breakfast buffet wasn't great the first day but was much better the second. Same with the food hall...chicken wings were amazing one day and not fresh the next. The restaurant food was also underwhelming (the mashed potatoes tasted instant, which was disappointing). Considering the prices, I expected more consistency and quality. That said, everything else was great. The lodge felt very safe, and I was especially impressed with the number of lifeguards actively watching the water park...they were attentive and clearly doing their job well! Great experience overall.

Decent setup for small children. There are cabanas available for rent. Cons: Very few shadow spots to hide from the scorching sun while walking around or waiting - despite repeatedly applying lotion I burned badly. No music or speakers whatsoever. $15 to rent a locker. No cash accepted anywhere. Hard to keep being wet as most pools (over 3 feet deep) are receiving riders from the water rides and staff makes sure no one is there. Despite not being too crowded on a Sat afternoon, the line for each water ride was painfully slow. Folks are just stuck on a line under the sun without being able to take cover or take a sip of water - food/beverages pavilion is by the entrance and quite far from most water rides. Luckily, the staff on the top of the water structures had a heart and occasionally sprayed water on the concrete/metal so that it is bearable for the bearfoot customers. Also, there is no large swimming pool to cool off - one has to either jump in the lazy river flow or go to this small pool area that's open for everyone. The lazy river is okay - not super clean, quite loud and tubes availability is a challenge. It was hard to be lazy on it with all that traffic and constant screaming. Most tube water rides are completely dark inside so hard to feel any special enjoyment. Food is pretty basic and that's all there is to say. This water park is decent for a quick water fun time.

The park has been open since 10:30 and they still don't have anything else open and it's 12:15. The water is super cold. If we hadn't gotten a discount with our rental company I'd be really upset. They should at least warn people they are having staffing issues and rides might not be open. I guess I should've known that they were having issues when I tried to call about cabana rentals and no one returned the call or the email. Guess it was lucky the website wasn't working because if we had paid for a cabana would've been so upset.
