Hershey Chocolate World
Tim B.

We stopped for a quick visit while in town. Very interesting place to visit with a surprising amount of things to do. 2 hour free parking and then it's $60! So plan for that. There is a free trolley tour. Not sure how long it takes but if we go back in the off season we would probably do it. The store is very interesting. If you get in line for the tour upstairs there's a wall with the whole story of how the company grew over time. Definitely worth seeing even if you don't do the tour.

Hershey's Chocolate World is an official brand experience and visitor's center that opened in Hershey, Pennsylvania in June 1973. It was founded by the Hershey Company. Beginning in 1910, Hershey began to give tours of its chocolate factory to the public. Visitors walked through real production areas to see processes like bar molding, wrapping, and the depositing of Hershey Kiss chocolates. By the early 1970s, the public tours had become too crowded for the active manufacturing plant. Located next to Hersheypark, Hershey opened Chocolate World as an alternate visitor center for the public to learn about the manufacturing process as well as purchase chocolate products in the large retail shop. My family and I recently visited Hershey while we were visiting our cousins in Pennsylvania. My wife and I had both separately visited Hershey when we were children, but this was the first visit for our own children. After taking a tour around town with Hershey Trolley Works, we headed inside Chocolate World. We went straight for the Hershey Chocolate Tour, where the line moved very quickly. It's not a real tour of the Hershey Factory, but rather a simulated one that is family-friendly. Similar to an attraction at Disney World, visitors sit in omnimover-style cars that move continuously along a track through the simulated factory journey. Our sons loved seeing the anthropomorphic chocolate characters who teach visitors about the chocolate-making process. Afterwards, we headed to the retail shop area to grab some delicious chocolate treats to take with us on the road. And don't worry... there were plenty of free samples too! For any families looking to visit Hershey, we highly recommend making a delicious stop at Hershey's Chocolate World!

Very cute and well-done. It has been years since I visited. We enjoyed the variety of experiences they offered here. We did the "chocolate tasting academy" which was silly, but clever and we also took the chocolate ride, which was really fun. There was no line when we went and everyone gets a mini chocolate bar at the end. Of course we didn't leave without some purchases. My son particularly enjoyed the Reece's PB & jelly cups and I enjoyed the Reece's protein powder I picked up. It is a great mix-in with Greek Yogurt. The cafeteria-style food here is nothing special. My son had a sad little pizza and I got a chicken salad, but I had to get two of them because they were so small. The gelato outside is good. Parking is easy and it's free if you are here for under two hours, but shoots up to 60 bucks if you overstay that timeframe.

Best experience ever! Can you believe this was my first time here and it won't be my last. Loved all the Hershey experiences. You get candy treats with every one of the experiences. Loved the gift shop. I like you can pick out your favorites and buy them in mini sizes. So much delicious candy to explore. Make sure to get on the free ride and they Take your picture. We purchased the key chain. Parking is free. I am glad I finally had a chance to experience this and would not hesitate to return. Just keep in mind if you're traveling in the warm weather. You have to worry about the chocolate melting. We traveled during the springtime so our chocolate made it safely home. Still in good condition.

My absolute favorite. I sneak them out of the jumbo variety pack on Halloween. I'm a ghoul.

Americans consume more chocolate than any other country in the world approaching a gut busting 390,000 tons per year and nowhere is that more evident than Hershey's chocolate shop in Hershey Pennsylvania. What's far less apparent here is that Hershey continually skirts the line on how much cocoa has to be present to be considered actual chocolate -- the FDA minimum is 10 percent while the average Hershey bar clocks in at 11 percent. In fact, Hershey's has the licence to produce Cadbury chocolate in the US keeping cocoa at 11 percent, while the original version still produced in the UK is 40 percent. Enough of a difference to cause Hershey to sue UK Cadbury to keep their original version out of America (Hershey won.) Nobody doesn't like a Hershey bar every once in awhile but it's nice to know this iconic brand is committed to the bare minimum on quality. Two lazy stars. FYI... US brands with the highest Cocoa content are Lindt and Ghirardelli.

Hershey's Chocolate World is a great attraction for visitors of all ages and an easy way to spend a couple of hours while you're in Hershey. The facilities are well-maintained, the staff are friendly, and there's plenty to see and do whether it's your first visit or your tenth. A few highlights from my visit: If you're only visiting Chocolate World, you receive two hours of free parking, which is a nice perk. Clean facilities, including well-maintained restrooms. A large gift shop with just about every Hershey product you can imagine. The free Chocolate Tour is a must-do and a great introduction to how Hershey chocolate is made. The tour ends with a free sweet treat, which is always a nice bonus. Plenty of activities for families, chocolate lovers, and first-time visitors. There are also several paid add-on experiences available, including: The Hershey Trolley Works tour Create Your Own Candy Bar Hershey's Unwrapped live chocolate tasting show Of these, I highly recomme nd the Trolley Tour. The staff dressed in old-time attire really bring the experience to life, and their energy, storytelling, and interaction with guests make it a memorable part of the visit. It's a fun way to learn about Hershey's history while being entertained along the way. One thing to note is that the store can become quite crowded during the summer months, so be prepared for larger crowds if you're visiting during peak season. Overall, Hershey's Chocolate World is a fun, family-friendly attraction that offers a mix of free and paid experiences. Whether you're stopping in for the Chocolate Tour, shopping for treats, or taking the trolley ride, it's a classic Hershey experience that's well worth a visit.

We visited Hershey's Chocolate World on a Saturday around 4 PM and were pleasantly surprised to hop right on the Chocolate Tour ride with almost no wait. It's cute and worth doing, but I wouldn't wait more than 10-15 minutes for it. The real highlight? So much chocolate and fun merchandise. Prices were pretty reasonable, and we loved finding some unique and seasonal treats. Somehow, grabbing a mix of favorites and new goodies still only ran us about $30. We also tried the Reese's Oreo Club Parfait... and honestly, it didn't live up to the hype. Kind of underwhelming and lacking flavor - my homemade yogurt bowls with peanut butter protein powder are better (and that's saying something). They do offer non-dessert food like pizza, baked potatoes, and soft pretzels, which is nice if you need a break from sugar overload. We considered doing the "stuff your own Reese's," but the amount of peanut butter looked almost excessive - and that's coming from a true PB lover. Overall, definitely worth a stop if you're in Hershey - just go in with the right expectations!

I was finally able to go to Hershey Park in Hershey, PA. It was worth the wait! I had no idea there was going to be roller coasters, a water park, and even a Zoo! The ride for the chocolate world is nice, with information about how the chocolate bars are made and cute characters. You even get a chocolate kiss at the end!

Dawn R.

What a great experience. It was nice to hear via the historical trolly tour the story of the Hershey's. We had a very nice time and it is worth a stop whether you have kids or not. It's just simply enjoyable.

Reese's Oreo Milkshake
Nevin P.

So lets state the obvious, everything here is delicious....I got a Reese's Oreo Milkshake and Cherry Parfait with Twizzlers. The milkshake was out of this world! The Cherry Parfait was okay...I don't know if I would ever get another one. No the negatives. Hershey is insanely overpriced. Looking at the cost of all the attractions in chocolate (besides the free ride of course) will have you putting a decent amount on your credit card for a family of four. I went during the week so the crowds were not bad. But weekend crowds or summer crowds here get very bad. Parking is free for the first 3 hours I believe, but after that...a HEFTY parking fee is charged. The visuals throughout Hershey are out of this world. Incredible decor, incredible marketing.

Jessica D.

I've been here more times than I can count. It's a great place to check out if you are in town. My kids love it here and what s not to love - so much candy and chocolate. We always shop till we drop here. The free parking is enticing enough to come and spend a fortune on candy. HA! We will be back soon, the Hershey area is filled with things to go and restaurants to try out.

Ask the Community - Hershey's Chocolate World

Do you need tickets for Hersheypark to come here? And is this basically the same thing as in Vegas?

You do not need tickets to go to the Chocolate World in Hershey Park. There is a dedicated parking area, where you get 3 hours of free parking to visit Chocolate World. If you stay longer than 3 hours, the parking fees apply. Inside is a gift shop,…

Can you bring an infant on the ride?

Absolutely! It’s a slow-moving, calm ride.

Can you go in here and just get chocolate or do you have to do the whole experience?

You don't have to do the whole experience but it is recommended the 4D movie, build your own hershey bar is pretty cool. They also have a small zoo within the amusement park definitely fun entertainment for kids.

Are there doors on the pods for the ride? Just wondering how easy they are to get into/out of for an older adult.

Their easy to get in and out of. However there's quite a bit of walking and a few steps you'll have to deal with. Ask for a wheelchair and worker if you're worried. As started above handicapped pods have a ramp.

Would a 13 year old (our oldest) enjoy this place?

As a 23 year old I had fun! I enjoyed making my own chocolate and the sea lion show was good!

Discount on parking?

If you are only going to chocolate world only, you can park for 2 hours for free. If you are going…

Can someone tell me the pricing of the Watchamacallit box (not just the bar)? Is it $36 for two?

Sorry, we were there on a 90+ degree day, so we didn't look at buying any chocolate. I hope someone has the answer for you, otherwise you may wish to contact them via email (they're very responsive) or call them directly. Best wishes!

Looking to get a gift for one of my mentors who's a big chocolate lover -- thinking about doing the make your own candy bar. What toppings are available? Also, what customization is available for the wrapper? Does it just allow a first name?

You can do dark or milk chocolate and They have a few toppings including sprinkles , Rice crispy's etc.and the wrapper you can do whatever you like w wateva name accordingly, it would make a pretty cool gift and comes in a nice tin box

Anything on saving on parking?

Parking to Hershey's Chocolate World is free if you exit the place less than 3 hours. It's also…

Has anyone tried the $10 meal ticket add on to package? Is it worth it? I am not sure about what do you get once you redeem it.

Yeah, we just did this last week. it was really slick. We just picked out what we wanted to eat and when we ordered, we showed the cashier our tickets and she initialed over the "Meal Add-On" on our ticket. It was awesome!

The atmosphere was fun, utilizing retired ride vehicles as booths and playing into the park setting. As expected in Hershey, the menu explored how chocolate can be integrated into a very American menu. I enjoyed the pulled pork grilled cheese: the chocolate barbecue sauce reminded me of a lighter molasses-based sauce so it worked with the barbecue. We had the Ferris Wheel appetizer which was mostly a win, but the items could have shown up on a TGI Friday's menu. The next day, to escape the millions of middle schoolers in the park (I have a whole travelogue brewing for that) we came back because I wanted one of their gigantic milkshakes. The Reese's peanut butter shake was peanut butter to the Nth degree, and it was topped by an entire slice of peanut butter pie. My friend got a stomachache but I love anything peanut butter so this was a win for me. Both times the service was really good. I drove down from Markham to attend an American Hockey League (AHL) playoff game between the Hershey Bears and the Manitoba Moose. Giant Center, where the Bears Play, is at Hersheypark, as is Hershey's Chocolate World. The Hershey Company owns everything at Hersheypark. I find it neat that the entire town is named after a company known for candy and chocolate. It didn't matter where you were in Hershey. You could smell the chocolate! I am certain that I got into visiting Hershey stores in my travels through this first visit to Hershey, PA. My visits to the stores in Niagara Falls (Canada), Las Vegas, and Shanghai come to mind. The flagship store is obviously in Hershey, PA. It was an amazing experience. The cool part was picking up a bunch of Hershey's Chipits in butterscotch. It was one of those hard-to-find flavours locally back then. It was so easy snatching a few bags for baking cookies and more. I think of chocolate bars when the Hershey's name is mentioned. The classic milk chocolate comes to mind. I like that it has expanded its flavour profile to include cookies and cream, dark chocolate, birthday cake, and almonds. At Easter, I do like a bag of Eggies. I like that you can get dark and milk chocolate varieties, with both having a candy coating on the outside of each Eggie (or is it Eggy for the singular?). I like Hershey's Kisses. The original milk chocolate is classic. I love candy cane Kisses that hit stores just before Christmas. The cookies and cream ones are also yummy. Besides the Hershey's brand, the Hershey's company also has these brands under its product umbrella: - Reese's - Chipits - Jolly Rancher - Oh Henry! - Twizzlers - Whoppers - Glosette - Skor - Brookside - Ice Breakers - Eat More - York I probably consume more Reese's, Jolly Rancher, Oh Henry!, Whoppers, and Ice Breakers on this list. So good! Hershey's Canada has its headquarters in Mississauga, near where I work. Sadly, it doesn't smell like chocolate whenever I'm driving to work. It should! I don't mind Hershey's and its products. I feel like some Reese's white chocolate cups, which are also awesome. (377)

Tröegs is a cornerstone of the Hershey area and well known around here. The lineup covers their standards alongside newer, more experimental beers and ciders, so if you're there to drink, you'll find plenty of variety. The space is large, with seating inside and out, meeting rooms, and events throughout the year. They offer tours, and the gift shop sells merchandise along with their beer to take home. It's a good place to spend an afternoon, whether you take the tour or settle in and people-watch. Tourists come through, but it still feels like a very large neighborhood spot, and everyone is friendly. If you're waiting on a seasonal release like their Mexican lager, check the gift shop. In my experience, new releases show up there before they reach local grocery stores, so it's a good place to get them first, or at least to find out they're out. The food is decent, but set your expectations accordingly. Think upscale bar food, like brisket sandwiches, rather than a full restaurant menu. I haven't eaten there often, because I'm usually stopping through or heading to an event for a beer or two before moving on. The one real drawback is noise. When it's busy, it's very loud, but that's what you'd expect from a big warehouse space with concrete floors and hard standing tables. Parking is plentiful, with a huge lot next to the building. On warm-weather weekends and at other peak times, expect to walk a bit. The lot is long, stretches well away from the entrance, and feels like several lots stitched together. Other than the noise, I don't have anything negative to say. It's well worth a visit.
