Tip: More of a fact that Reese's and Ice Breakers are brands that fall under the Hershey's Canada product line. I visited Hershey, PA what feels like eons ago. I drove down from Markham to attend an American Hockey League (AHL) playoff game between the Hershey Bears and the Manitoba Moose. Giant Center, where the Bears Play, is at Hersheypark, as is Hershey's Chocolate World. The Hershey Company owns everything at Hersheypark. I find it neat that the entire town is named after a company known for candy and chocolate. It didn't matter where you were in Hershey. You could smell the chocolate! I am certain that I got into visiting Hershey stores in my travels through this first visit to Hershey, PA. My visits to the stores in Niagara Falls (Canada), Las Vegas, and Shanghai come to mind. The flagship store is obviously in Hershey, PA. It was an amazing experience. The cool part was picking up a bunch of Hershey's Chipits in butterscotch. It was one of those hard-to-find flavours locally back then. It was so easy snatching a few bags for baking cookies and more. I think of chocolate bars when the Hershey's name is mentioned. The classic milk chocolate comes to mind. I like that it has expanded its flavour profile to include cookies and cream, dark chocolate, birthday cake, and almonds. At Easter, I do like a bag of Eggies. I like that you can get dark and milk chocolate varieties, with both having a candy coating on the outside of each Eggie (or is it Eggy for the singular?). I like Hershey's Kisses. The original milk chocolate is classic. I love candy cane Kisses that hit stores just before Christmas. The cookies and cream ones are also yummy. Besides the Hershey's brand, the Hershey's company also has these brands under its product umbrella: - Reese's - Chipits - Jolly Rancher - Oh Henry! - Twizzlers - Whoppers - Glosette - Skor - Brookside - Ice Breakers - Eat More - York I probably consume more Reese's, Jolly Rancher, Oh Henry!, Whoppers, and Ice Breakers on this list. So good! Hershey's Canada has its headquarters in Mississauga, near where I work. Sadly, it doesn't smell like chocolate whenever I'm driving to work. It should! They make some of the world's favorite candies and confections. Their products range from the basic chocolate bar to hard candies (Jolly Ranchers) with all kinds of candies in between. Payday: First introduced in 1932 at the height of The Great Depression, Payday candy bars at the time were supposedly viewed as meal replacements (was I born in the wrong time or what!?). I sort of buy that as the bars are peanut-dense and contain 6g of protein. Each bar's surface is teeming with salted peanuts that are adhered to a nougat-like caramel center. The Hollywood Candy Company is rumored to have named Paydays as such because it was first produced on the company's pay day. After numerous deals (I'll spare you the details) Hershey became the candy bar's producer in 1996 and has remained so ever since. Payday bars never got my attention until I read about some characters eating them in a couple novels by one of my favorite authors, Stephen King. Trying out my first Payday, the two things that stood out most were the amount of caramel and saltiness of the bar. Although there is a lot of caramel, it's solid and chewy, whereas I prefer caramel as more of a runny filling. I'm also not much for peanuts, even though peanut butter is one of my favorites. The combination of chewy caramel and salt from the peanuts left a dry sensation in my mouth. Stephen King may be a legendary author, but I don't understand why out of all the great candy bars out there, he was so enamored with this one as it's just okay @payday_bar @hersheys . I called to request a price adjustment and they refused. I was told that the order had already been shipped and I should have read the FAQ!! Yeah, I know candy offerings have suffered across-the-board downsizing and formula changes to save a buck but that should not diminish the need to celebrate the existence of the tastiest foodstuff the world have ever known - of course I am referring to the humble but mighty Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. Concocted in the Hershey Pennsylvania basement of former company employee, H.B. Reese in 1923, the iconic cups in the orange sleeve have become the largest selling confectionery product in the United States since it's virtually impossible to stop at one. To me it's the exquisite aftertaste that is a nonpareil sensation. To company chemists, it is said to be derived from their exclusive use of Diamond Crystal brand salt. Other aficionados point to the unique cleaving of the cup on first bite that unleashes the wondrous mix of complimentary tastes. Whatever it is, it's amazing. The only thing I'm sure of is that I can't (and won't) keep any on hand since they make crack cocaine look like baby formula. Who doesn't love taking a ride down the Hershey Highway to visit Hershey's? My trip here when I was younger was fun, because chocolate is fun, but let's be honest here. Hershey's sucks so bad. Hershey literally makes the worst chocolate I've ever eaten in my life. I've had some pretty bad versions of chocolate - but nothing is as disgusting as this. American chocolate in general is awful but this one is bottom-of-the-barrel. I would literally rather eat any other chocolate than this. Back when you guys purchased Cadbury, "we" all wondered whether you might ruin the chocolate. Put your own twist on it, lessen the quantity, change the taste. You guys did it all. Unfortunately. Why the fuck did you? It's been awhile since I've had a Cadbury bar. I think I've been silently protesting its purchase by Hershey. I just had my first today and it wasn't as good as when Cadbury stood alone. So you guys got rid of the gold foil paper. You also made the bars a lot less in shape and more like a typical Hershey bar. Why? Who buys Hershey bars? Why does it have to be the same? And in the almond bar, why'd you reduce the size of the almonds and the quantity? Aren't you people supposed to be testing these things before you release it? Hershey's chocolate syrup is no longer real chocolate -- it's "Original Chocolate-Flavored Syrup". This means Hershey's cut out the cocoa butter in the syrup as a cost savings measure. Hershey's has 'saved' nothing. Recently I tried Hershey's syrup against an El-Cheapo dollar-style store's generic chocolate-flavored syrup. I like Bubbles. I like bubble baths. I like making bubbles. I like bubbly I like floating bubbles. I used to like bubble gum. Sad but true but I have out grown one of my favorite past times and no longer chew bubble gum. I've been off bubble gum for quite some time and cannot even recall the last time I placed a stick of gum in my mouth. Back inn the day Original Flavored Bubble Yum was my chewing gum of choice. The flavor seemed to stay much longer than other chewing gums and was tastier to boot. I just learned that Hershey's bought Bubble Yum some time ago. How smart of them as they have chosen the best of all the gums to be part of their line up. I'm not certain of bubble gum is lascivious, but Bubbles surely is. read more

3.5 stars. Imagine: You walk into a room and see an individual. A person you know but they hardly look recognizable. It could be your son, your daughter, mother or even your father. Your significant other or a cousin or a friend. They are having a chocolate moment. Their pupil's are dilated only revealing shifting, soulless back eyes. They have chocolate smeared all over their face and hands. Fresh from the kill. They look at you with a startled look on their face but at this point and time you know they are running on instinct alone. They bare their teeth and take another big bite of chocolate. I think we all have had a chocolate moment. Women seem freely to admit that they love chocolate but men don't like to admit that they are vulnerable to it. You know they are when they go to a store and a candy bar they want it out of stock. Their reaction shows this. Not their words... but their reaction. I often have chocolate moments but when I have candy from Hershey's it is usually during my break at work and I manage to restrain my feral side. Sometimes my hands tell me otherwise and I have to sheepishly wash them off before going back to work. My current infatuation from products from Hershey's is the Crunchy Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. They are fairly new and I find myself buying one package of them a day. For shame! Another favorite is the Hershey's Chocolate Bar with Almonds. In recent years I have raised my nose a bit and only REALLY go crazy with specialty chocolate bars that have a high cacao number. It is even better if they are infused with unusual ingredients. However I always find myself back with these 'everyday' kinds of chocolate bars. I enjoy them all of the same. I find it hard to believe that vanilla is still the number one flavor in America.
