    Calabrian Shrimp Fettuccine

Reminiscent of middle school lunch. How they are getting away with charging $20+ for the pasta is a crime. Wouldn't pay more than $5 for this, pasta was undercooked as well for the cherry on top

Ordered to go the: -Calabrian shrimp fettuccine: 5/5 Good flavor, nice buttery tomato sauce with some spice to it. Gives 6 shrimps and a fair portion size for $23. -OMG sandwich: 4.5/5 Sandwich had the same tomato flavor as the fettuccine along with the meats like salami, prosciutto, etc. really flavorful but a little on the small size for $20. Very fast service. It's inside of a wine bar so not sure about dining in but quick for pick up

I've come here before and both times, they have this nice outdoor seating but it's never full; both times my party has been the only one there! this place is golden though- their sandwiches, pizza and tiramisu is really good! pizza is good too but i'm a sandwich over pizza person hahah anyways super nice area; service was also great!

I got the quadrono which had prosciutto, burrata, truffle mayo, roasted tomatoes, and decided to add the spicy sauce which took the sandwich to the next level. Really delicious!

As a self-allowed sandwich expert (see my profile, it's legit), I feel a responsibility to weigh in when a sandwich catches me off guard--in the best way. My wife wanted to try something new for delivery, and I gave the green light. She always orders me some sort of Italian sandwich--no mayo, ever--and tonight she absolutely nailed it. What I received from Heroic Italian was nothing short of excellent. I got the "OMG" sandwich, and yeah... oh my God is right. The portion might seem small at first glance, but the flavor and quality punch well above their weight. The ingredients were clearly fresh, the bread was next-level good, and the sandwich construction? Tight. Intentional. Balanced. Someone in that kitchen gives a damn. My wife got the chicken pesto sandwich, and it was also lights-out. Perfectly seasoned, great texture, no soggy nonsense. Bottom line: I'll stack this jawn in an "artisanal sandwich" battle w anyone in the City.

Bomb Genoa sandwich (pesto chicken) - 5/5!

Delicious food! We usually only get burrata with toast (also bomb) but the warm chicken sandwich was fabulous. Service was very friendly. Ambiance was relaxing and tranquil. Wine Club Members get access to the backyard. Tons of seating. Can't wait to go back!

Yea the Sammy was nothing like this

Tasty but looks nothing like pictures and disappointing First time ordering and the OMG looked so big we only ordered one and if you see the photo your like omg that is huge but it's no 20.00 see photos below. I include the store photo for comparison We had been so excited to try now having to order another as this was a one person Sammy and not as described

OMG spicy, no lettuce, add burrata

It can be easy to walk by Heroic Italian and not realize it! There are no signs for the restaurant. Instead you will see a wine shop. Wine shop in the front, Heroic Italian kitchen in the back. When I entered, the man at the cashier explained that I could take a seat at any table outside, scan the QR code and order directly on my phone. The QR code links to the specific table you're at so they know who to bring the food to. I ordered the OMG spicy, no lettuce, add burrata. This sandwich was beyond delicious, literally the most perfect sandwich. I should have kept the lettuce on there since it prob would have balanced out the saltiness of the meats, but that's my fault! The roasted tomatoes were my favorite part!! They were so incredibly flavorful! My mouth is drooling just thinking about them! I can't wait to come back to SF to try their other sandwiches!

    Business owner's response, lol

LOOK PHOTO BELOW AND READ... The customer service is certainly lacking as well. I received this response from the owner. It's so weird lmao The owner definitely seems confident about his business and does not pay attention to the negatives. The real issue here, business owner not listening or being adequately. No matter when you bake your breads or where your sausages are imported from, it's about the taste and quality of the final product. ((Maybe you imported cheapest sausages, try lil more expensive ones)). If you got that kind reviews, be kind, listen your customers and improve or double check your products. Think about that, Mr. Business Owner:) UPDATE: Please, start with customer service. Read/learn what is that and how to reply to reviews like mine! Haha, what's important is that they don't lie and pretend with good quality. They are what they are. You buy cheapest sausages and using old/dried breads lol

Awesome food! Private table. Wife and I each had a sandwich and had half of each. Also had a Blind Pig beer to go with the sandwich.

We were excited to try this spot that was recommended by friends but unfortunately didn't love it! It was still a decent sando but lacking in rich flavors! We did door dash and it was expensive for 2 sandwiches (almost $50)! The OMG was better than the Marinetti.

Oh hey, I know Heroic Italian from my recent visit to their Downtown Berkeley location where I indulged in a tasty burrata pinsa (review: https://bit.ly/3qfi8M2). This currently mini-chain was started by Boston-born brothers Jeffrey Mertihue and David Bullitt down in Santa Monica where they became popular for their Italian sandwiches. I was happy to find out they opened a spot on Castro but was surprised it was a pop-up in front of Swirl, the wine shop close to 18th Street. They built out four dining booths at the curb and set up tables on the sidewalk. Each space has its own QR code that allows you to review the menu and make your order. Human interaction was at a minimum. But you won't hear me complaining...or young mothers with toddlers in baby strollers. The process made it efficient without having to wait for a server's attention. I ordered in two parts starting with the $18 Chicken Caesar Salad with a generous amount of shredded rotisserie chicken nestled with romaine and crostini croutons (photo: https://bit.ly/3oIrGio). It was mixed with parmesan, anchovies, Dijon mustard and garlic, and the result was tasty even if the dressing was on the excessive side. The second part of my lunch was the $10 Crostini and Burrata where they served toasted wedges of Montesacro bread with a big helping of creamy Balsamic-drizzled burrata (photo: https://bit.ly/42hZVuQ). This could become a Castro habit. FOOD - 4 stars...satisfying favorites with just a little more oomph than I was expecting AMBIANCE - 4.5 stars...liking the pop-up set-up, at least when a booth is open SERVICE - 4 stars...pretty efficient between order and arrival TOTAL - 4 stars...this Italian is feeling a bit more heroic RELATED - Exploring the Castro? We were told 10/15 minutes for a table. Took 50 minutes - nearly an hour! We totally should have gone somewhere else but alas we eventually were seated. I got pasta and also and some of the pinsa (Roman style pizza). Also had the meatballs. Everything was just so so. The pizza almost tasted stale - someone mentioned it is supposed to be like that but I've had pinsa a few times and that was not my experience. The pasta was pretty good - a red sauce. Nothing special. Meatballs also solid. Somehow my pasta came up 12-15 mins after everything else's food which was entirely confusing but oh well. The wine was good. Overall a cute little wine bar in CV, would def come back but nothing to write home about.

I was not a " stranger who walked from Haight street to your premises. Make no mistake about it. The scope of trust and honesty is more valuable and important than the scope of ice cream . At the request of my daughter and my grandmother we went to the ice cream bar this last Wednesday, taking to account we have been customers for the past 10 years on and off , we would drive from Marin just to have the ice cream there . We have seen employees come and go including Managers. Since my kids went to Grattan school. At times I personally like to pay for things in cash . We know most customers about 67% would pay by credit cards. To make a long story short. I wanted to pay my bill in $100 bill . Brand new , undamaged and straight from Wells Fargo bank. Negative thoughts would generate actions , negative actions would generate negative prejudice. What were the odds of having a family and customer using malice in bad faith? I presented the legal tender of $100 bill to The server, he took the money and checked 4 times looking at the number at the front, he used his left hand using his fingernails to scratch the bill in a strange way, like if it was a lottery ticket or a gift card , we know that large bills should be checked. then stated that he cannot accept the bill and that he had no change. Immediately, objected to his statement. I told him I quote: " You didn't even open the cash register , how would you know if you have change or not " ? He responded sarcastically, I have been handling the money all day . I responded by saying: then you should know if you can make change or not . Furthermore, I stated to him that is not how you would check for a valid $100 bill . A special counterfeiting pen is ideal to check bills. I showed him the way to be checked by holding the bill upright and matching the serial numbers to the bill. He made no good faith effort to get help from his manager , to call someone or confer with a third party responsible. This has created an inconvenience for my family. Luckily, I brought a backup card and payed by discover card to diffuse the situation . I wonder how many $100 bills were passed by me for the last 10 years? I even suggested he should call the police if he was so sure that it was a counterfeit bill. It was certainly a legal tender of a good faith/ money and finance . Section U.S.C 31 5103. The Constitution says otherwise. The ice cream bar failed to warn . If it was a policy not to accept a $100 bill , it should have been known by a clear and convincing fact by posting a statement that " No large bills / $100 bills are accepted " in a clear view of customers to be seen. I have tried to communicate with the company's MANAGER by calling her 3 times . She did not bother to answer my request to address my concerns , " my phone calls were screened " and refused to take my phone calls or respond. See how easy to lose a customer. I will not recommend this place nor go black to this ice cream place.
