When Jose came out to look at the problem, he identified that it was where the new roof meets the old one.

Now I am…read morenot a buyer or property owner in any capacity,so I will not be speaking on his capabilities as a home inspector (Other reviews do that, and you can take a look at them for more info on that.) What I will be speaking on is Ed's lack of safety precautions while investigating a property during a global pandemic, with, may I remind you, several thousand active cases in the state of New Jersey alone. Ed was prompt and on time and pleasant enough. We were informed by the property owners that the individual doing the inspection would, in fact, be wearing gloves and a mask, but Ed neglected to wear either a mask or gloves while performing his inspection. When provided a new mask by one of the current tenants of the property, he wasted little time in expressing his distaste for the masks, and was very vocal about the facts that he did not wear a mask on a day-to-day basis, and when he inspected the property of an older couple (in their late 80s) and he was asked to wear a mask, he did, but only after expressing his discontent with wearing one. After being provided with a new mask, he put in on briefly, and removed it only a few minutes later. He continued to inspect the property without any PPE, and without stopping to sanitize or otherwise clean his hands and arms at any point during the inspection. Of the 9 individuals staying on this property, nearly half are either immuno-copromised, or have a pre-existing respiratory issue, if not both. While Ed spouted off about his beliefs regarding COVID, 3 of our tenants were left to shut themselves in one of the bedrooms in order to avoid possible exposure through him. After he left the main space, we were left to disinfect every surface in the rental. As a side note, Ed also stopped the washing machine mid-cycle, and didn't say anything about it, luckily one of us noticed it fairly quickly, but we were left to fully restart the cycle, causing us to have to abandon a portion of our afternoon plans as the restart set us back almost a full hour. Each of the tenants who was present was, in fact, wearing a mask, out of courtesy to the individual who had to enter a space filled with other people. In short order, Ed's lack of professionalism in regards to ignoring federal, state, and local recommendations in order to guard against COVID, is horribly apparent, and honestly baffling. As an individual, whose career relies on entering the living spaces of others, temporary or otherwise, one might think that Ed would have the basic sense, if not simple courtesy, to follow a simple, and unobtrusive set of protocols in order to ensure both his own safety, as well as the safety of the individuals living in the spaces he is inspecting. We will be contacting our rental company to inform them of Ed's possible breach of agreement.

The quote was competitive. The team was fantastic. Delivered materials the day prior and showed up promptly to begin work. Everything went incredibly smooth--the crew finished by late afternoon. Mason was friendly, professional, and available for any and all questions. The biggest relief is knowing we went with an experienced roofer that guarantees the quality of their work with an outstanding warranty. We are so glad we went with them over other options in Frederick. Looking forward to not needing to replace this roof again!

Bottom line up front: Impact Roofing is not a company that takes hands-on pride of their work. They…read morewill send a team of people who barely speak English to do your project with no supervision. The company will go hands-off as soon as they get your deposit. I almost never write bad Yelp reviews and I have been sitting on writing this review for a while but I had to because I am still so upset with the quality of service. When giving me my estimate, they sent a real professional to actually survey the property, go up on the roof, take measurements, etc. I had a really good feeling about the company. However, the person who gave me the estimate quit the company and I was reassigned to someone else who never physically came by to see the property. On the day of the installation, the team that they sent had no familiarity with the specifics of the project (which was attic insulation, gutter installation and rain barrel installation). I had to explain everything to them all over again, like they'd never heard of it before. It didn't help that they didn't really speak English and I had to show them what a rain barrel was with hand gestures. The workers installed my backyard rain barrel backwards, and my front yard rain barrel upside down. They took bricks from another part of my yard to mount my rain barrel without asking. The worst part by far: One of the workers, without asking, cut down my Virginia creeper plant that I had been growing and training for three years. It covered the front of my house and attracted birds and butterflies in the spring. Now it's destroyed. There was literally no reason to do this, he didn't ask for permission or anything (he said "it's poison!" when I asked why he did it; it's not, it's a harmless native plant). My house used to be unique, now it looks like every other house on the block. This last offense was intolerable, I called the company and demanded they sent someone down. They ultimately discounted the project by $2600, which was fine but did not compensate me for my loss. This was the first time any supervisor actually came to the property. It was clear the supervisor didn't know the workers at all, and he couldn't communicate with them any better than I could. The management had no interest in coming by to check work after it was complete, either. I had to reach out to them to request that they do so. They were perfectly content to just let their workers do it and leave for the day. Ultimately, they did the job that was on the contract, hence the two stars: they insulated my attic, installed gutters, and installed rain barrels. But everything else was a terrible experience. I wish I could undo hiring them in the first place.
