Bayside Exteriors, Lewes, DE replaced my roof. They did an absolutely awesome job! I had a large job (2,100 sq ft home with 6/12 roof pitch, XL 2-car garage, and a porch). They install 30 and 50 year GAF shingles. They have a high business rating with GAF, so they can offer their customers a 35-year warranty on installed GAF shingles! They came out for an estimate, went up on the roof to check it out and came down with a lot of photos, rot, black mold, holes in the boards. Because the contractor who built my garage David Carr, Homestead Contracting (BUYER BEWARE - it looks good until you find all the damage that has been done over time) did not properly attach the garage to the house, it had leaked in many places. Problems with the roof: 1) Mr. Carr never framed the garage properly for it to drain. 2) Mr. Carr NEVER installed flashing where the garage met my house. He pieced together small flashing sections on my porch because he didn't have a large enough piece. 3) Mr. Carr never installed roof vents for ventilation on the garage or my porch. 4) He butted the shingles up to the existing shingles on my house. They should have crossed over the joints. 5) It leaked everywhere where Mr. Carr attached the garage to my house. I had 2 roofing contractors tell me that the roof should have never been connected to my house the way that it was. You might think you're getting a nice-looking garage and roof, but 15 to 20 years later, when your roof needs replaced, you find out how much rot and black mold they have to remove. It is NOT worth the price you saved. Do it right in the first place. Get a REPUTABLE contractor. Bayside Exteriors gave us an estimate. They have a GAF Master Elite rating. Only 2% of the contractors achieve this rating. Their expertise in explaining everything that was done incorrectly and showing us all the rot was impressive. They had a special if you signed within 30 days you got the 35-year warranty for free, which normally cost just under $2000. If a storm blows off the shingles, they come out and fix them for free. The warranty is transferable to one buyer. They showed up with 10 men on my job. They had equipment delivered, a large dumpster, portable commode, and a dumpster that lifts up to the edge of the roof. They placed large sheets of tarp all around the house. They threw the shingles in the small dumpster as they removed them. When the small lift dumpster was full, they dumped it in the large dumpster. Another truck arrived with a tall crane-like lift which lifted the pallets of shingles up to the roof. Bayside had to use 5 boards of OSB to get rid of all the rot and mold. It was even in the walls. They had everything they needed to do a high quality job. They had a supervisor on the roof and a supervisor on the ground. They kept the yard clean so it wouldn't fly away to the neighbor's yards. Bayside Exteriors did a highly professional job. I am extremely happy with their work. I now have roof vents on the garage and porch and proper flashing. They put rubber on the roof at the back garage joint which was improperly connected to the house and had leaked so much over the years. They were done in 1 day. It all looks so much more professional than my first builder had done. I was very impressed with the workmanship of the staff and their professionalism. We bought 40 pieces of fried chicken, chips, cookies, soda, and tea for them for lunch. They were very appreciative. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this #1 company to anyone replacing a roof. I would leave 10 stars if I could. Call Bayside Exteriors. They are a step above! Their price was only $200 more than a competitor and the warranty was worth it. read more

Had a full roof replacement. Crew was on the job from 8-5 on day one and 8-1 on second day. Great job. Matt and Chaz were so informative and knowledgeable. The cleanup was impeccable. I contract with Bayside because of the exceptional service. With the recent project of new windows and siding they've gone far beyond expectations. Having a thorough understanding of products enabling accurate estimating is very beneficial and much appreciated. No outrageous suprise costs or added time is a good thing. We lost some siding on a windy day. The estimator was able to come by the next day. He observed that the remaining g siding had not been properly fastened and gave us a quote to replace the lost piece and secure the rest of the siding. He had a sample book so we could match the color. The crew came a few days later. They worked steadily and carefully. Our siding is much more secure now. The match is pretty great. They also cleaned up every single piece of material from our yard. Fair price, great service. Couldn't be happier. We will use them again! read more

Bayside has satisfactorily completed two jobs for me. Back in 2015 they put a new roof on my house, with the GAF composite "architectural" shingles. They did a great job (5 stars), despite it being December and cold, and their guys came back after dark to finish the job (although that didn't seem very safe). Their price was competitive with the other big local contractor, but their contract was more concise and readable (4 pages vs 14). I called them back last year to fix siding at several spots while I was on vacation, and they did another good job at reasonable cost. The only reason for deducting one star is that they damaged my outdoor wall-mounted hose reel by leaning a ladder against it. They did refund the replacement cost of it, however, after I gave them photos and a receipt, which I had to do in person, because they did not respond to my phone calls. So, I'm happy with the quality of the work they did, and the cost/value; and I was satisfied with their (eventual) response to my complaint. I would probably hire them again. read more

I had the worst experience with this company, I hire bayside exteriors to do the work on my house, and the company used subcontractors to do the work. They didn't know half of the stuff I was asking to get done on my house. I don't like the fact that I hire the company to do the work and sold the work to someone else for dirt cheap, one of the guys told me how much the company was paying them for the whole job and I was amazed to find out how much money the company triples on every single job. read more

I have used these guys for several small jobs over the past couple of years and they are terrific! They're very happy to take on small jobs, they come out promptly, and they do the job right. Last week I discovered a missing shingle on my roof was causing a leak in my bonus room. I sent an email to Bayside. Amanda answered me promptly and told me she could send someone out to look at the job on Thursday at 9 am. I was pushing the trash cans out at 8:50 when Mike arrived. I showed him where the problem was and asked if he thought they could get it fixed before the nor'easter we were expecting this weekend. He told he that some of the guys had taken the day off for a fishing trip so he didn't know if they would get to it that day, but they might be able to. If not, they could get to it on Friday. I thanked him and told him that would be fine. I went back in the house and went about my routine. At about 10 am I heard the sound of an extension ladder being opened at the front of the house. Then some hammering. A few minutes later I heard the ladder being retracted. The job was done. This company has a customer for life in me. read more

Mike came to my property on 3/1 to look at my roof and provide an estimate. He didn't say much to me, but when he left he said he would send me an estimate in 45 minutes to an hour. It never came. I emailed him on 3/7 and he said he would be back in the office in one hour and would look into it. It's now 3/13, I still haven't received an estimate from them and I hired another company. We contacted Bayside along with 2 other top rated roofing companies to get an estimate for roof work. They weren't the cheapest or the most expensive but we went with them because of the detail they had in the proposal and the professional way they presented themselves. Our first problem was lack of communication as to when the job was to start. I called the office three times and the last time, on a Monday, I was told that I would receive a call at the end of the day Wednesday to let me know if they would be here on Thursday or Friday. The next morning on Tuesday they showed up unannounced. We weren't happy with the crew on the first day. Without going into specifics, they were VERY disrespectful to us and our property. When the job was totally complete, debris and trash were left on our roof and in our gutters. We sent Bayside an email expressing our dissatisfaction about the way the whole job was handled. They sent someone to our house to discuss it with us and they cleaned up the trash on the roof. They didn't say much about our dissatisfaction or offer any compensation for our frustration and dissatisfaction. When it was all said and done, as best we can tell, the workmanship was fine. If you use this company for work on an existing home I would highly recommend being there to keep an eye on them. I will not recommend them to anyone. read more
