My initial experience with HDC was probably not the best. I Purchased a 1800$$ kitchen faucet that was on clearance. The box was a bit tattered and tore up but they assured me it was a hell of a deal. Half price almost, original price was almost 3K. Wow. I'm stealing this bad boy. The box actually looked like it had drifted through the 2010 Opryland atrium flood, I pictured it wedged between a kapok tree and bowl of artichoke dip. But, I mean it's a beautiful bronze faucet. It could withstand anything. Right?! Fast forward, missing parts clamps, washers , rings, returning plumbers , on line orders, wrong size replacement products. 20 hours later of labor and my time surfing the net to find the right part. I finally solved the problem. Told them and they said oh wow sorry. I asked for a discount for all the inconvenience and the money spent and time lost. They said. Oh I'm sorry. It's final sale I said but u just spent a month trying to find me the right parts and u got that wrong too. Yah but I saw on the box it said final sale. . Woo hoo. This is how we do it. Today I had to enter the scene of the crime for another issue, I did the sign of the cross in my car and asked for patience and understanding. As my 5.4" 120 lb self enters the showroom, I held my hand up to the 7'8" greeter -like trust me, you don't want any of this today. I headed over to customer service like a gangster ready to rumble and out of nowhere comes the running back from The Super Bowl trying to address me before I hit the counter. Clearly someone up front fired the canon and said all hands on deck. Crazy customer entering the building. And then ...........the clouds opened and I heard the angels sing. Derek with his big smile and his oh I'm sorry for what someone did to you, god forgive them for they know not what they do. Redemption today for HDC, William the giant at the door who can feel a room even if he can't read it and Derek the king of damage control, helped me in 2 minutes, apologized for the prior mishap and ordered the replacement shades I needed for the dumb bathroom vanity fixtures that the bulbs Burnt right through. ..nice to see good customer service and a subtle reminder to business owners, the name of ur company is the face at the door. read more

Hermitage is an impressive place, but their customer service doesn't fulfill the promise of the presentation. It may be the Covid situation. I was interested in a new Franke disposal unit and a Toto washlet. Three times I was transferred to a voicemail. The next time I called I spoke with a pleasant woman, who said that she'd email me prices for the two items. I still haven's seen an email. When I called twice today, the operator claimed she couldn't hear me, which was strange. They're either understaffed or swamped with business now that they're open again. Either way, they're clearly not interested in my business so I'll have to search elsewhere. They may regret ignoring customers when the full impact of the recession hits. read more

If you are a contractor or looking to undergo a large renovation project, this would probably be a great place for you. Unfortunately for me, I went in with a fairly simple request to replace some track lighting in my kitchen. The associate who helped me did not seem interested once he determined the small scale of my request. In store, there was a relative limited selection of track lighting. The sales associate offered to purchase something through one of their distributors, but seemed uninterested in showing me multiple options. He pulled up one website, but could not provide me with any cost information. I left my contact information and I was told I would receive an update within 24-48 hours. One week went by and I reached out twice with no response. I ended up purchasing my light fixture online. I honestly expected a better experience given all the nice reviews. Hermitage Lighting very much feels like the type of place that sizes you up the minute you walk through the door. If you are looking for a "mom and pop" business that prides themselves on customer service, I would recommend looking elsewhere. read more

Hermitage Lighting Gallery is the best lighting store in town. I've had people tell me they think it is expensive, but it really depends on what you buy. They have a huge assortment of light fixtures for every price range. I've been in here before for lighting for my house and for my investment property. Most recently I was looking for 3 semi-flush light fixtures for my hallway. Daniel was the person helping me this time and he was excellent and helped me make a quick decision. I'm not one to dawdle over things. A week later and I'm still very pleased with my purchases. The best part of Hermitage Lighting Gallery is that they have almost every fixture in stock and you don't have to wait! They also have everything you can think of for your house. From light fixtures to choice furnishings to toilets and appliances. Speaking of toilets, you have got to use the restroom while there. The toilet in there is high tech, I will not ruin the surprise. I walked into the gallery attempting to look for ceiling fans for the house, but came up with more questions than answers. The lady at the front desk, neither made eye contact with me nor greeted me when I entered. So, I began to wander the store looking all the fans they had on display. At one point, a gentleman reluctantly asked me if I needed help. I say "reluctantly" because he only spoke to me because I happened to be in his walking path. He proceeded to tell me that they have many more fans in stock than they have room to display and directed me to a computer terminal where I could browse their online store. I thought this was fairly handy only to realize that the photos of all the fans are slightly bigger than thumbnails and almost useless. The descriptions of the fans wereinconsistent. Some descriptions were quite detailed, while most were lacking in any description at all. On my way out, the greeter lady continued her oblivion to my existence. When the limited selection of cheap-looking (over-priced) lamps and light fixtures at The Home Depot and Lowe's just won't cut it, perhaps you should stop by Hermitage Lighting Gallery. This is a true lighting store with a full range of lighting solutions to please most tastes, I believe. Hermitage Lighting Gallery also offers (or can order) all manner of switches and bulbs, as well asother home hardware and accessories. The staff are not always sunny, but they are not snooty and ultimately helpful. The irony is that the overall lighting in the place is rather dim, in spite of all the fixtures and lamps in use. Walking around the store, I have seen a few lamps that look sharp and feel like quality products, but with price-tags in excess of $300, I admire and move on. Some of the fixtures are double or triple the price of somewhat similar fixtures at The Home Depot, for example, but the difference in price is truly analogous to the difference in quality. As the son of an electrician, I've seen a light fixture or two and I'm not sure that anything at Hermitage Lighting Gallery is cheap garbage, such as you find at the big box stores. I did find some "semi-flush" dome fixtures by Kichler that were around $31 each and I got two for my house. No, they are not high-end, but again, they are obviously better quality than (in this case) comparably-priced fixtures at The Home Depot. I paid close to $150, I believe, for my living-room fixture, but it's worth it. Again, the quality of design and construction is evident as it is, but more apparent when compared to a cheap-looking and poorly-made $59 version at The Home Depot. I was apprehensive about going to hermitage lighting gallery because I had heard they were so expensive but I was pleasantly surprised. I bought lights for my new home today and it was such a quick and easy process with the help of Anna. I was in and out in two hours. They were also able to deliver everything they had in stock the very next day! Also my overall expense for the amount I bought was not bad at all. I'd heard such great things about this store and was excited to shop for a big project we are doing. My husband took off work to go with me. Upon entering, we were not greeted by the man at the front desk and no one offered to help us. We looked around awhile, and I asked two ladies behind a counter if someone could help us. They said they would call someone. Eventually, a woman asked if we needed help. I had a list of what we needed (3 interior sconces, 2 exterior sconces, 2 ceiling fans with lights, and 4 outdoor pole lights) and explained our size restrictions for the back plates. She gave me a yard stick and said she'd check on us later. I asked about a ceiling fan. She said all the information is on the signs. We looked awhile longer and never saw the salesperson again. My husband and I made SEVERAL trips to this store which is an hour away from where we live. We ended up getting hooked up with a sales girl named leslie that from day one never seemed prepared when we got there for our scheduled appointment. The last appointment we gave her our list of picks and she said she would email us with prices and availability. After several emails, calls leaving messages and several weeks later, she still had no emailed us the price list. I finially got her on the phone and she said she would get it to me, a week later, still nothing, called back and finially got it from her with half the lights missing off the list. Several emails later and my contractor calling and bringing it to a managers attention, still no complete price list. I sent an email to the sales rep and copied the manager on it telling them that I really wanted to do business with them but that we really needed to get this order moving if they could get me the list. The last email I got was from Lindsey saying she is working on it, that was Sept 21st and today is Oct 15th. Still nothing from them. But I did get my lights ordered........from QUALITY LIGHTING IN CHATTANOOGA!!!!!! They were glad to take my order of almost $11,000.00 for the lights for our new house. It's a depressing day when you go shopping with the intention of dropping a lot of money, but leave a store empty handed & annoyed. Nevertheless, that is what happened to my friend & I. My friend, who is an avid researcher & purveyor of extensive lists, made me accompany her to this store with every intention of purchasing a new refrigerator, stove & dishwasher. We came here armed with measurements, appliance specifications, and most importantly, a fat wallet. We came to this specific store because my friend enjoys supporting local businesses. And yet, we left this establishment feeling as though her money wasn't green enough to be allowed to make a purchase with them. We wandered around far longer than we should have, with no one offering us any help. And when the one appliance savvy associate finally deigned to acknowledge our presence, we were repeatedly told in her haughty manner that she was more accustomed to dealing with builders. We were blown away by the depth of their selections for any room and outdoor needs we had. Anna Littleton. was our designer/consultant at that time and I cannot speak highly enough regarding the support and service she gave us. Now, we are adding a screened porch to our home. After checking outdoor and damp resistant lighting at the Big Box stores (and being very disappointed and frustrated) we returned to Hermitage and consulted with Anna L. again. She kept to our price point, made excellent suggestions, and was very respectful of our time. We were pleased with the prices and selections and cannot wait to see them installed in our porch. Once the order was completely fulfilled (only 5-7 days), Hermitage delivered the entire shipment to my carport. Great Customer Service! I have purchased various lights and mirrors from Hermitage over the past several years. Unfortunately when one of my chandeliers was moved, the electrician cracked one of the five glass bulbs. I purchased this chandelier nearly 10 years ago, but loved it. I took a picture, sent it to Rachel, and she found the replacement for it. She had to contact the distributor, etc. I appreciate her extra efforts. Also, the pickup counter guys are fantastic!
