SS is a pretty neat spot. Definitely lots of selection for just about any home project you have. Good prices. I think if you were a home flipper or something of that nature, this would be your playground to do it well, but on the cheap. Unfortunately the quality of the items just weren't up to the standard of something I would want in my house I was living in, so I didn't end up buying anything. But if you need something quick and cheap to get a home project done, I'm confident you could find something to fit the bill at this place. Well, I found a new spot that isn't Target where I will spend countless hours wandering around in search of something when I came for nothing! Southeastern Salvage is a "diamond in the rough" store if I have ever seen one, from inside to out, floor to ceiling and wall to wall! When you pull in you truly feel you are entering a salvage spot with the pallets of items in the faded parking lot and the multiple old dirty and rusty buildings. Then you walk inside and while you still get the same vibe, you just walked into a world of home décor that you were not ready for! This place has everything for inside of the home from simple pieces to decorate with including art and mirrors to furniture from the small to the large. They have a massive rug selection from bathroom size to full room fits. In between these things they have all types of random items for the house from smaller art pieces to dinnerware, candles, cutting boards, curtains, statues, drapes, wooden ducks with boots (I had to call those out, they were super cute!), bags, clothing, etc... The layout is about half home decor and half home remodel, with the remodel end of the building being stocked with flooring, tiles, showers, wood, vanities, countertops, lighting and all things to spruce up the ole homestead. Pricing is fantastic here! The furniture was decently priced, the smaller items such as cutting boards were excellently priced and the rugs were phenomenal with several great 8 x 10 rugs being only $29! Service was decent, but non-existent on the floor. I had a few questions and had to wait in the checkout line to ask. Overall, love Southeastern Salvage! This place was advertised as having budget furniture, which is a huge misrepresentation of their inventory. It was very difficult to find something that wasn't several hundred dollars. If you go there in the winter, you will freeze and in summer you will burn up. This company, headquarters in Chattanooga or AL, has no regard for their employees or customers. The store managers are horrible and will fire you and lie about the reasons so you can't get unemployment which is confirmed from reports. The owner, founder, won't respond to requests to discuss matters also confirmed in reports. Their website claims this and that about how great it is to work there, but reports confirm none of that is true. I was so upset walking in, trying to go in summer, that it was so hot, I left and never responded til now as I did searches and found this is common problem. Reports reveal the salary is ok and benefits so the potential is there for a good working experience. The products, selection seems good as well as sometimes it's reported the value is there. Oversight is missing. If you own something, especially just a few stores, go talk to employees, read the reviews from all the stores, and make changes if you care. read more

I've been shopping here regularly as I'm renovating and had such a bad experience that I will not be back. They have tons of butcher block counters after shopping for an hour to pick out the one I wanted, I asked for help. The man that attempted to help was SO rude! He wouldn't let me purchase the one I wanted as he "couldn't open it." He said it was the same as another one (despite the edges being different) so to buy that one instead. While I was looking around to see if there was another color, they pushed us out of the way, dropping a pallet of wood at my mom's feet (nearly breaking a toe without even an excuse me). Idk what was going on here today but I can honestly say it's not worth saving the money to be treated that way. read more

I've thought a lot about how to rate Southeastern Salvage since I had a mixed experience here. I did end up buying a nice side table for my living room but not without confusion. I wasted a lot of time trying to find someone to help me and wondering how to make my purchase. S.S. is one huge warehouse of home decor, furniture, plumbing/sinks and flooring options which are somewhat categorized by a banner hanging from the ceiling to indicate what 'section' you are in. They did not have a specific section for nightstands or end tables, they were just randomly clustered throughout their selection of coffee tables and cabinets. They do have a lot of really unique and interesting pieces. Their prices do not reflect that a lot of these items have repurposed wood or other materials. I think that overall their prices are too expensive for the items that they are selling. Getting assistance finding what I needed here was a challenge. I first went up to the register and they said they'd call someone from that department to help me, but told me to go wait by the item that I had a question about. I waited for a while then realized that I saw someone from the furniture "department" sitting at a desk. I walked over and asked if there were any other side tables or if I was looking in the right spot. He gestured vaguely at the section I was already in and said that they didn't have a lot right now and I was in the right section. He didn't offer to help me look or to have someone help point out what they did have. I looked for a few more minutes then went back and asked how I should go about buying a piece I had decided on. By that time another employee was over by the desk (again not seeming interested in assisting customers) and told me that he would write up my order but he needed to go find a pad and pencil to write it down. He wrote down the item on a piece of paper and handed it to me. I stared at it then asked what I should do with that and he told me that he'd put the side table on the dock for pickup and I should go back to the original register I had started at. I went back to the register to find two employees idly engaged in conversation. The person who rang me up was nice enough but was multitasking by answering a phone at the same time that she was helping me check out and not asking the caller to hold for a moment while we finished up at the register. Again, I didn't feel like a priority and was put off. I pulled my car around to the loading dock and an employee took my receipt and went to retrieve the side table. He put the side table standing up in my car and then walked off. I layed the table on the side (as it should have been properly put horizontally in the car from toppling over and getting damaged in the first place) and drove off in disgust. It seemed odd how unprepared and unwilling they were to try and help me. It honestly did make me question if I should just walk out and not buy anything. I do like my side table but I don't think I'll be back since it was such a hassle. read more

Amazing and unique collection of home goods, furniture and building supplies. I went here on a recommendation and I've never seen anything like this. Unique furniture, large rugs, home goods, and a great supply of doors. I found door slabs and pre-hung doors. They also have a great selection of unfinished table tops with which you can make awesome tables or counters. The outside doesn't look like much, but the selection of stuff is big, but it's not a cheap place. They have common furniture like couches, chairs and tables, but you won't find thrift store bargains. Very cool place for unique finds. read more

OK, other than the fact that this huge place is filled with exotic, worldly, antique-style, and modern yet affordable treasures, the service was amazing!! Someone went and got me a cart for my little things. Later, after more shopping, someone offered to carry my rug, and then my picture. And the cashiers were super friendly and even laughed at my jokes (and I'm not that funny). Signage as to where to park and a new store sign may be in order and the website could maybe use a little love, but the content, the prices, and the service were reeeeeeally great! read more

I have bought bolts of fabric from India, silk kimonos, metal trays, old metal funky suitcases that I made into a table, cheap raw cabinets that I put in a rental and more. Wow... unbelievable Case in point: I've been looking for MONTHS for a cowhide rug for my apartment that wouldn't break the bank but also doesn't look like shit or is tiny. So. This place has turned into a joke. I've been coming here for years. Items I bought just last year are now marked up 200%. They need to change their name because it's no longer a salvage shop. Although, it's still all product that's bought at auction and damaged, they now charge prices as if it's brand new out of a Restoration Hardware catalog. You can literally get anything this pace sells at Home Depot or an actual furniture store for the same price, but actually new and with warranty. Done with this place. They're taking people for fools. And so long as people continue to pay, I guess they're being proven right. read more

This place is absolutely fantastic. If you are somewhat flexible in your selections, you can save 50-90 percent over other Big Box Building Home Improvement store prices. They have a wide range of discounted goods and some things not so discounted as well. Whereas most stores have an ungodly amount of Made in China goods, these guys have beautiful goods from India...they have lots and lots of interesting things that you don't see every day. With regard to my shopping experience and customer service, the first young fellow didn't I asked didn't know the answer to my questions. He didn't hesitate to find someone who did. Great selection but a rude employee caused me to decide to leave my cart full of home improvement items. I had two kitchen lights, an area rug, and several entry rugs while I was looking at the tile and flooring options. I went around a corner looking at other options when a young African American guy says "uh sir employees only" moving a shelf blocking a sign I couldn't have seen. He stood there pointing and the sign with his hand in his hip until I left what appeared to be a shopping aisle and didn't acknowledge me as a customer until I had vacated the unsigned area. Only then did he sarcastically say "did you need something?" To which I replied "No thank you, you're rude, I'll be leaving now." And left empty handed. No deal is worth negativity and rudeness by a sales person. Period. read more

I'm not really even sure how to classify this store. It appears that they receive lots of overstock items mostly related to home furnishings. If there is anything you need for decorating your house they probably have about a dozen varieties there that you have never seen. Vases, lawn chairs, hammocks, tents, Asian curiosities, tile flooring, etc... The prices are low, and the selection is random. It is almost like going to a big indoor yard sale. You never really know what they are going to have in stock, so it an adventure every time. read more

There are always so many unique styles and decor items, someone can really go crazy in a store like this! The prices for certain items are often very reasonable, such as tiles of all shapes and colors. The furniture can rare from affordable to very expensive, but all seem to be good quality. I want to like this place. 3 stars maybe too much, but 2 stars seems harsh. I just have a lot of mixed emotions whenever I go here. I feel like a closeout, salvage place should have better deals. The prices really aren't anything to write home about. There are some cool rugs here, but nothing you can't find elsewhere. Although they did have a bleached-out, creepy Winnie the Pooh rug that still haunts my dreams. -shiver- The furniture is cool, if you can find one that isn't broken. Seems like easily over half their pieces are broken. The have a lot of outdoor, Asian garden-type stuff here. Statues, fountains, Balinese sweatshop-type stuff. When I first walked into Southeastern Salvage, recommended by my mother-in-law which always makes me nervous, I spied a seven foot tall Buddha head (and it's a fountain?!) I knew this was a place for me. I don't like "antique stores", I like "junk stores". This is not really a junk store, because most things are priced like a Marshall's. But the variety is junk store-quality! There's furniture, there's garden/patio stuff, there's building supplies, including a sweet looking Arts & Crafts-style door for the cheapest price I've seen. I could've happily spent hours here picking over everything. Oh and the patrons (or were they employees?) are also junk-store quality. I overheard two guys talking about their latest underground fighting matches. One of the fellows was explaining that being hit with barbed wire doesn't hurt as badly as one would think. Fantastic! This is a place if you're looking for odd stuff for your home, and the best part is you won't have to dig through piles of stuff. Everything is put out nicely on *gasp* shelves and with some form of distinguishable order! But a word of advice: Carefully inspect the furniture. I was looking at a table made from railroad wood, and when I started to look with my hands the whole thing wobbled wildly. I began to frantically scan the area for "You Break It, You Buy It" signs while trying to stabilize it. Thankfully nothing was harmed in the writing of this review. read more

I don't know what everyone else is complaining about. This store is called Southeastern SALVAGE. What exactly were you expecting?? This is a fantastic place to go while you're in the early stages of planning. There's random stuff here since they're seconds and cast-offs, you never know what they'll have from one week to the next. I found a rug there, the likes of which I had been looking for for months and only spent about $19 on it. This is a 9x6 rug, not a small little welcome mat. Tell me where else you can find that. Even Target's nice rugs that size were upwards of $60. They had benches, bath tubs, furniture, sheets, little trinkets, mirrors, more stuff than I could ever begin to list here. Do yourself a favor and check this place out. It's worth it if you don't mind working for your savings. If it were easy, everyone would do it. Oh, word to the wise. DO NOT GO HERE IN THE SUMMER if you can avoid it. I went mid-July and regretted that decision immediately upon entering. It's a warehouse and they're able to offer low prices by keeping their building whatever temp it is outside. So, take that however you want and go forth! read more

It's a ginormous unpretty warehouse with furniture and furnishings galore. I walked in to a large entrance at the front and was told I had walked in the loading dock and asked to walk out and over about 10 feel to the left and come in the proper entrance. hmmmm... I felt pretty stupid but what else is new? They have a really nice assortment of things from area rugs, to dining tables, to hardwood flooring and kitchens sinks, pictures, potted plants, you name it. I think the real steal is the huge terracotta planters and stone pieces that are so expensive at the depot but affordable here. My advice is that if you are taking on a household project, making improvements, or furnishing a house, to at least start here with your list in hand. You honestly may be pleasantly surprised at what you find and a lot of the stuff is pretty relevant to whats in style. read more

Have you been watching this season of Design Star on HGTV? If you have, you've probably seen the designers go to this store to get some of their furnishings and decor items. Definitely in a random spot, Southeastern Salvage is next to Essex Retail outlet in the Berry Hill area. It is a huge store, and there's a large variety of merchandise. They have seconds and closeouts of things. There are a bunch of framed posters, prints, and mirrors that I thought were a good deal. They have furniture from small end tables to large dining room tables. They had lots of outdoor items as well like tile, stone, and even some railroad ties if I'm not mistaken. I need to go back and get some of those! They also have cabinets and vanities for cheap. If you're remodeling or looking for decorating items, this store should be on your list. It's certainly different than a lot of other stores I've been in. read more
