3.5/5 Hermanos was one of my first stops when I first moved to Winnipeg, as a hotel ad for this place advertised it as an "Argentinian restaurant", something that I've never tried before. Turns out it was pretty much a Brazilian restaurant, which is alright since I haven't had that in a while as well. The ambience is quite dark, so taking photos of my food was quite hard. I ordered the moqueca, which was a seafood stew with mussels, clams, crab meat, and fish in a coconut broth. It was decent, but the portions were quite small (although for $22 I can't really complain). I've had better seafood in other places, although for a restaurant in Winnipeg it does its job. Service was slow and our server never showed up till 10 minutes after we sat down. It didn't feel it was busy at all (it was a Sunday night), so I guess it is something this place has to work on. It's not a place I will frequently visit, but if someone requests to come here I definitely wouldn't say no.

The restaurant is specialized in steaks as their steaks were done properly (the steak was very thick). I was not too impressed with the taste of our steak probably because the steak was very blend. I was adding lots of salt onto my dish. I also ordered a cup of Sangria Red, which was really tasty and not overly sweet. I think their food are good but it's too pricy imo. Check their prices before you go!

Came here a couple years ago with my husband for dinner. We had already made reservations, and didn't have to wait too long until we were seated at a table. The restaurant was very busy and there were lots of people waiting by the entrance for a table. Music plus with all the people trying to talk over each other, made it hard to hold a conversation and hard to hear one another. Fortunately, we got a table in the far back corner, which was somewhat okay, as the noise level wasn't too bad and we could still hear each other talk. We received complimentary bread to snack on as we waited for our food. We ended up ordering the La Cabrera to share, which consisted of a 24oz angus ribeye cooked medium rare, served with port reduced mushrooms and bacon, grilled vegetables and mashed potatoes ($69). The steak was very flavourful and juicy, and I would definitely recommend it. We also shared a large paella as well, which usually comes with shrimp, sausage, chicken, seasonal fish, mussels, lime, cooked in a spicy coconut tomato broth ($39), but because my husband doesn't eat seafood, they were very accommodating and made it without the seafood for us. The paella was also quite good. Overall, I would definitely return to try the rest of their menu, especially the other types of steak they offered.

Soon as I walked in my first impression of the place was that they're trying to be classier than what they are. As others have mentioned in reviews, they ask for your reservation, but there is clearly no need for it as we went at a time that should have been busy for any restaurant. I also found them a bit pricy for what they are. All the above said, the food was good...However, I would not consider it South American truly. But, what can you expect when in the middle of Manitoba? The portions served were large perhaps too large, which is rare for me to say. The waitress was really nice. So props to them on friendly staff! The beer selection left much to be desired, and left me pining for Mtl.

If you're craving for Paella, this is the place to go to here in Winnipeg! We loved it! The large Paella can feed two to three people. The appetizers were great too. Really loved their chicken skewers. They have a huge selection of beer, cocktails and wine. The dessert was delicious too.

    Nice and delicious cocktail selection

3.5/5, +.5 for service…read more Went to Block and Blade for a friend's birthday party. We were part of a large group of about 20, and the server accommodated us very well. The restaurant is slightly upscale, with a wealth of food options at somewhat higher than average prices. I was torn between a few items, but I settled with a starter french onion soup and an entree of chicken tenders and fries. I've had lots of french onion soups in my life. This one was quite good; the gruyere cheese was plentiful and was gooey, which is how it should be. The chicken tenders were crispy with plenty of batter. The honey dill sauce is on the creamy side, which I didn't like as much but I can imagine others preferring the creaminess of the sauce. It won't be a place that'll be on my regular visit rotation due to location and price, but I'd definitely have this in my list of suggestions for a special occasion.

Don't bother going to this restaurant if you're alone and over 50 years old. You'll be ignored…read more On the four separate occasions, I went there on the way to a regular appointment. I had in the neighborhood. One time I sat at a table; one time I sat at the bar and a third time I saw it in a booth. On each occasion, I waited between 15 and 20 minutes for somebody to even come to the table. On two of the occasions, the food came before I had a set up at the table, and the server disappeared, leaving me with no cutlery and a meal rapidly getting colder. The first time this happened I contacted the restaurant management and said that rather than leave a bad review, I would like to speak to him about it. It obviously didn't help because the next three visits were just as disastrous.
