+.5 for service This was a bit of a shocking review for me as well, as I expected Harth to be leaps and bounds better than the other Italian places in this city. While I believe Harth is still good overall, the price point gave me second thoughts on whether I'd consider this place the best outright. I went with three friends for dinner back in October. Two of us shared a dozen oysters, and I had the tagliatelle. We also shared a tiramisu for dessert. While the taste of the oysters was fine, some of the oysters had bits of shells in them, meaning they were not shucked very well. The tagliatelle was very good, in fact I'd probably stick with the pasta dishes next time (I mean, it's an Italian place after all). The tiramisu for dessert was...average. I'd probably pick something else for dessert. Service was, as expected, excellent here. I could push this up to 4 stars with a future visit, but for a high price point in this city, I have to be realistic with what I paid vs the value I got. read more

The ambiance is surprisingly nice considering they are located in a strip mall. But the food, and the service, absolutely amazing. We were a party of four and the roasted chicken is the best we've ever had. It was roasted just perfectly and the flavours in the glaze just exploded, so delicious. Their pasta is house made and did not disappoint, we tried the veal bolognese and the duck confit tagliatelle, tons of flavour and big portions. For starters we tried the burrata and the prosciutto dishes, both were great. I would definitely come back here and order just the burrata and a glass of wine for lunch. Let's talk about Mel, our wonderful server. I do not remember the last time we had a server so perfect, anywhere. She was friendly, but not intrusive, extremely attentive (our water glasses were never empty), very knowledgeable about the menu, and made great suggestions. Absolutely stunning!! Firstly the customer service was on parr. Our server Michael was amazing - from food and best wine pairing recommendations to suggesting and helping us move to the table beside us (he recommended the course meal and we were convinced so we needed more table space!) to filling our glasses of water every time to overall a great and friendly attitude and service. We had an 8 course meal and it was beyond my expectations. We were happily stuffed mid way through the pasta, never mind the steak after! Every meal was cooked to perfection. They were dutifully equipped with three large glass bottles of water (tepid to room temperature rather than glacial as I like it) behind our table when my dining partner and I lumbered in. We were late (she was having lover troubles) so they said we had to be out in an hour. Fair enough, but this kind of ultimatum dulls the stomach acid, jus sayin. It is a very strange location, out in a kind of country-backwoods roads area across from a Hindu temple. I was very impressed by this temple! The food was very good but very salty. The kale salad would put any nephrologist in serious booming business. The wine servings were judicious but not biblical in their generosity. I would eat here again because our waitress was pleasant, as was the busser, but only if someone else were treating me. I found the duck confit pasta richer than a Rothchild, and the meatballs were essentially the same as what I get scattered across the top of a Pizza Pizza pizza. read more

This is quite a busy restaurant. You definitely have to make reservations in advance! I came here twice with reservations and still had to wait at least 10 mins. I had the same server twice and he was probably one of the best servers I've ever had. The ambience is also fancy. It is on the pricier side and the portions are small. For example, I ordered the scallops and it only came with two. However, they were delicious. In regard to the food, it was tasty. The ingredients were very fresh and the flavours were on the zesty side. I recommend the Alla Famiglia if you're a spontaneous person and open to anything. It came with 7 dishes for the three of us in total. Drinks were also good. My favourite dishes were probably the prosciutto, duck tagliatelle and torta al semolina. read more

Sad to say but despite their pretentious menu, some of their dishes were inedible (literally, one or their pasta dishes had so much uncracked black pepper on it, we had to take it home and scrape large parts of the sauce off before being able to consume any of it), the service was cold in demeanour, and (this one might sound nit-picky but) the bread cost added $ when it really should have been complementary. This is my new favorite place in Winnipeg! The food, service and atmosphere were outstanding! We didn't have a reservation but sat at the bar - it wasn't like your normal bar seating - there's plenty of space you actually get to watch the chefs work their magic - the chairs are extremely comfortable! We had a bottle of wine, a charcuterie board and incredible pasta - all handmade and yummy. It's romantic and classic. Reminded me of a Houston's in the USA. I even loved the desert. Dined at Harth tonight for my sisters and I's Birthday. I've been here multiple times prior and the food and service was excellent. However tonight was not so great. We ordered multiple dishes and we mistakenly received a Rigatoni dish. We mentioned this to our server and the server said we could keep it since it touched our table. As we were enjoying our food (Rigatoni included), another server comes by to notify us she would be taking back the rigatoni dish. They also confirmed they knew we ate some and yes, it would be going in the garbage. After a few conversations, It is understood that management made a server remove the dish off our table to throw out. I would like to make it clear the servers were very apologetic throughout this experience. Not only was this super uncomfortable, it was sad to know that dish was wasted. Management definitely needs to get some customer service training. It was petty and unsettling to know management would rather have a dish go into the garbage than have a paying customer enjoy it. read more

Great wine selection, we chose the Temperanillo and it was fantastic, we even ordered a second bottle. We did family style and ordered the kale salad, flank steak, cauliflower, giardiniera pizza, shishito peppers and the rigatoni. Perfect for 5 people. One of us had a dairy restriction and they accomodated almost every dish and each still tasted amazing. Great service. Would recommend and return for another visit. read more

Totally knocked my socks off. Really good service, paired with really good food is always and easy win. Harth makes you feel pretty cozy, the environment is quite inviting, clean, and very well designed. It feels very upscale but the cost was reasonable. Service knows what they're talking about in the wine department and they have some of the better appetizers I've had in winnipeg. You could get yourself into a serious food coma at Harth in a hurry. The cocktails deserve mention, they have a selection of signature cocktails that thoughtfully modernize the trusted classics, I've tried quite a few and none of them disappoint. I won't usually do more than a couple drinks when I'm out at a restaurant but the quality of beverage and service makes me want to over do it if I'm being quite honest. I saw this restaurant on one of the local food blogs and decided to check it out with my wife on a weekday. We stepped in and were pleasantly surprised by the decor of the place. It was extremely nice. I would say it looks like a earls or Joeys. The menu had a good selection. My wife got the chicken and I got the lamb shank. We also got a rigatoni pasta to share and a watermelon salad to start. It took a while for our food to come for some reason. I think it might have been my lamb shank holding up the order. Food wise. Portions were generous. The chicken tasted great. My lamb shank was ok. Something about it did not make me go wow. The pasta was great. Good sauce and pasta was cooked just right. Went for dinner last night and took our two kids, 10 and 14. We sat at the pizza bar, good spot for kids. We ordered two pizzas and the duck confit tagliatelle and everything was delicious. Our server was excellent as well. Only small nuisance was they charge for bread ($6) which although extremely rare is not a big deal but we got 6 crouton size pieces of bread and no refill. At $6 you are more than covering the cost and most places give for free. I would do away with this at once or at least offer a refill. It's just not in line with the vibe of a excellent Italian restaurant such as this and it sends the wrong message to your customers. Again not a big deal and we plan to go back again. You gotta try their cheese and pastas when you come here! This elegant Italian restaurant serves house-made cheese and pastas. I came here for my very first time last weekend and had a positive experience. The restaurant was warm and cozy yet elegant. We had the Pane Rustico (sour dough with balsamic and olive oil) and a cheese board with Buratta and Italian Fontina to start. Everyone enjoyed the appetizer. For entrée, I had the Italian Pizza, which was loaded with meat and cheese (San Marzano, Fire Roasted Tomatoes, Spicy Sausage, Coppa, Sopressata, Fior Di Latte, Crotonese). We recently went to Harth for dinner and had an excellent experience! The interior design and whole restaurant is beautiful and booking our reservation through Yelp ensured we got a table without waiting. The four of us shared some pastas, a pizza and their meatballs as a starter. Everything we had was fantastic. The Italian pizza was super flavorful, had plenty of toppings and the crust was excellent. We also loved the pastas, we had the Fettuccini with Carbonara, Rigatoni, and Tortellini. Our favorite was definitely the Fettuccini, but they were all excellent and it would be hard to go wrong with any choice. We were also surprised that the portion sizes were very reasonable for the price. Harth is definitely a great place to try and the location is fantastic for us, but is even worth the drive if you're not in St. Vital. read more

I loved this place. Because I was late in booking, we sat at the counter facing the pizza oven. I though this would be awkward but it was just as good as a private table. Great vibe in the restaurant too -- although if you are looking for a quiet, romantic dinner, go elsewhere. Please add some gluten-free pastas and pizzas to your menu -- those with Celiac disease will appreciate it. I know there are some gluten-free options on the menu. Pretty disappointing from the get go. We were there on a Monday with several empty tables. Apparently these table were reserved but they were never filled by anyone during the time we were at the restaurant. Perhaps they were offended that we never made any reservation as we were relegated to their pizza station. We sampled each other's meal. We had the lamb shanks-overdone and flavorless and we not asked if we liked them rare, well done, etc. Had the spaghetti for $21.00 filled with fresh parsley, clams and octopus...big mistake....the portions of octopus was the size of my nail and I counted four minuscule pieces in it. Underwhelming and skimpy. We also ordered the octopus appetizer filled with chickpeas, cherry tomatoes and slivered olives for $14.00....rather pricey....... It was better than the entrée meals which is not saying much. It is noted on the menu that all the pastas are hand made but my pasta (spaghetti) didn't taste like it was hand made. Service was slow even though the restaurant was half full and the waitress came to us about 20 minutes into our meal, never asking if we wanted ground pepper or parmesan cheese to the pasta we ordered. No bread was served. Vegetables, salad, potatoes were all optional, ranging from $7-12.00. We ordered broccolini which was drenched in olive oil and was mediocre. The manager eventually came over and I politely indicated that there were very few pieces of octopus (counted 4pieces measuring about 3/4 inches in diameter) in the spaghetti I ordered. She indicated that they standardize the portion and the seafood is pre-allocated as if this was sufficient reason to justify their skimpy portions. $21.00 for Spaghetti!!?? She seemed very indifferent, patronizing and surprised that I would question her. The total bill was $78.00, with no alcohol, and needless to say we would NEVER return, given the service, the value and quality of the meal. Spaghetti Factory is a better value than this place who purports and self declares to be an upscale restaurant that is a Food Renaissance yet. What pretensions!! Yes the prices are upscale but the quality and value are surely NOT. Santa Anas, Nicollinos, Mona Lisa, and Bellisimos are better choices for a fine Italian meal. Harth is overpriced and underwhelming and I find it hard to believe that they received such a great recommendation. DO NOT RECOMMEND! read more

Never again I have never written a negative review before and have been disappointed in some restaurants but ,this one took the cake. Had reservations for four of us at 630. We all arrived on time and every time our server came to us for our drink or dinner orders we were always ready with our decisions. My husband and I each had one glass of wine and he had the veal chop and I had the Arctic char. Our server told us we should order a side because our meals didn't come with anything else so we ordered the green beans. When our meals arrived we were given the carrots but no biggie we like carrots as well so we didn't even mention the error. Both of our meals were just ok nothing exceptional. We didn't order coffee or dessert and within a few minutes of paying our bill which was $112.00 before the tip there was a woman standing a couple feet from our booth just glaring at us. I looked at my friend across from me as I was stunned by this woman and my friend mentioned that at the time she made our reservation she was told our table had another reservation for 830 so we would have to leave by 815. This wasn't even 8 yet and my friend said we still had time. Then not even a couple minutes later the woman was replaced by a server with a tray full of new Place setting standing right at our table not moving. I said to my friend seriously are those Place setting for our table??? So by 803 I had enough and left. I loved how they waited to be payed with a tip before they treated us so rudely. It's not like we were undecided and took forever to place our orders. If they were upset that we took 1.5 hours that's on their service, not us. I have never been treated that way before and will never return. Why pay extraordinary prices for mediocre food and poor poor service. read more

What a terrible restaurant. We went to great lengths to reserve a table for New Years Eve and arrived to find it closed. No warning was given to us and our party of six had to make new plans at the last minute. I just spoke to them and had a very lacklustre reaction; no explanation which means to me something like a health code violation. They offered nothing to make it up to us besides telling us they lost the reservation. Can you believe it!? What an insult; not even an attempt to win our forgiveness.
