We were in Dr Budiman's office back in July because my mum's temporary crown fell off. Dr Budiman cemented her crown and charge us $200. He said it will take care of it temporarily until she takes care of it in Indonesia. Her flight back is scheduled in Sept. Aside from that, my mum front tooth was also hurting. X rays results shows that her root canal was not done properly and thus was infected. He also gave her antibiotics and advised her to take care of the root canal. There were also 4 more root canals that she needs to take care of. The front office lady who speaks Indonesian gave us a recommendation to do the root canal but told us to come back after the root canal so that they can take care of the filling after root canal is done. She told us that the cost would be around $1,000 to $1300 each tooth and when we come back for filling it would be $200 each tooth. She also told us she would give us discounts if we come back to do the fillings. After the root canal was taken care of sometime in Aug, we called Dr Budiman's office to schedule a weekend appointment but was told it was full. The next week, my mum's temporary crown had fallen off again, we called to schedule an emergency appointment and was given 12noon to come on 9/7. This is when it all started. We were there at 12 noon exactly and the Indonesian speaking lady spoke to us and told us that the root canal doctor had send in the results and she was asking why we came so late. We should be there in 2 weeks to have the doctor do the filling. She goes on and on. We told her that this is the reason we are here today in addition to that we need to fix the cement that had fallen off back in July. She discuss the price of the fillings for 5 tooth. She said $225 each tooth. We asked if she can stick to the old price she had given us of $200 plus a little discounts. She said No. Since I had an appointment at 2pm, and it was already 12.30, I asked if we can see the doctor. She said that she would need to work on all the paperwork, my mum would need to sign documents and that she would have to wait. I told her that our appointment is at 12 noon, why do we have to wait. She said that the previous patient is still not done and she cannot help that the procedure is not completed yet. That was already 12.34pm. Not a word of apology! Hello!!!!!!!! I have never been to a dentist who made me wait for more than 15 minutes. Time Management issue here lady! Please respect your patient's time too! When my mum is finally called, she did not sign any documentation that the Indonesian lady mentioned. What was that about????? We got called at 12.50pm, the Indonesian lady told the person who brought us in that my mum needed an x ray. I told the lady that brought us in that we already had an x ray done when we came in July. She said that she needs another x ray after the root canal is done? Is this normal practice??????????????? Later the lady who brought us in asked the Dr Budiman if my mum needed X ray, Dr Budiman said No x ray needed. Halllo Indonesian lady.......you are ridiculous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My mum asked the doctor since she is going back to Indo in 2 days, can she do the filling back home due to cost reasons. Doctor was okay with it but urged her to do it asap. They then discuss the temporary cement and what she should do. Doctor told her that she would need a permanent fix this time since this temporary fix did not work. However since she is going back to Indonesia in 2 days, she was not able to do it that afternoon. The doctor cemented back the temporary crown for her (since it was front teeth). The lady came out really emotional. She said " your mum doesn't want to do the fillings, she only want to fix her temporary crown" even though Dr had told her that it cannot be fix anymore. Your mum insisted that she just want to do the temporary fix, so I am going to have charge her $200 again". Long story short, after some negotiation and explaining to her we don't have time to do it anymore this time, she charged us $150. OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This lady is ridiculously unreasonable. We have told her the my mum is leaving for Indo in 2 days. How can we do an implant in 2 days? She kept on ranting about how this is not the solution and that the temporary fix may fall off in an hour and she would not be responsible for that etc etc! She was mad!!!!!!!!! I can't believe her reaction. I also can't believe that she would charge us another time for a quick fix. Please tell me that this is normal dental practice. Doctor Budiman is really cool, however I suggest that he should coordinate and start managing his crew at the front office! We are traumatized by the unprofessional experience and was really shocked that her behavior is tolerated by Dr Budiman's team. read more

Dr. Herman is the best dentist (or even doctor) in my life, he is so gentle, kind, honest and friendly. Dr. Budiman and staff are very delightful! Always helpful and very friendly to our kids and seniors. I have been coming to Dr. Budiman for over 20 years now. He is very gentle and 100% honest. Unlike most Dentists these days, his intention is not to make money, he is actually there to make you feel better, have better teeth and great smiles! Used to be good, after the pandemic they try so hard to rip you off. The office was closed for 3 months because of COVID-19, they didnt charge my credit card for Ortho installment since they didn't render any service. When they opened, the front desk lady asked me how much should they charge since they didnt charge for 3 months. Of course I will not pay for something I didnt get. Is that even a question? And then, I had to extract 2 teeth, they claimed panoramic xray, and comprehension evaluation to my insurance while they didnt perform any evaluation since it was part of my Ortho treatment. Panoramic xray was taken 4 months back and it was part of my Ortho treatment as well that I paid separately. You dont need Panoramic xray for tooth extraction. When I saw my EOB, I realized they overcharged me because my insurance flagged the charged as too high for the same services perform in the same geographic area. Today, I took my daughter there for Panoramic xray since her Dentist doesnt have xray machine and other dental lab in LA county are still closed. The lady insisted that I pay $100 in case my daughter's insurance doesn't pay and she's wouldnt do the xray if I dont pay her first. She'll reimburse the when she gets the money from the insurance. She explained those in high tone as if I will run away with $100 and not paying them if the insurance doesnt pay. She didnt realize I come there every month for my braces and the work is far from done. How would I not pay if I still go there every month? $100 is not going to make me rich if I were to run away with that money! I just paid her that $100 right away because I didnt want to hear her nonsense. Magically, her attitude changed and she transformed to be a very sweet lady. Unfortunately, it got under my skin already. Her attitude is really her liability. It outweighs her husband's and her son's good work. Over charging patients also not right. I'm going to finish my Ortho there because I paid them too much money already. Albeit, they will not refund me if I switch Ortho now. Nonetheless, I will do my other dental works somewhere else! I had a great experience at my first visit here! I haven't been to the dentist in over 6 years ( I know, terrible), but the office staff and Dr Budiman made the experience really quick and painless. The two lovely ladies who helped me (wish I got their names) were very helpful and even took the time (without my request) to go over what my insurance covers, explaining my zero copay and deductible, and advising what may potentially require out of pocket payments. I was inspired to write this glowing review because my fiancé (who is under my exact dental plan) went to another dentist who tried to up charge him out of pocket fees for deep cleaning since he could not remember when his last visit was. If it wasn't for my visit with Dr Budiman's office staff, I wouldn't have known what our insurance covers and could've been charged unnecessary fees. I havent been to the dentist for a while and I do have some anxiety whenever I go into a dental office. I walked into the office and was greeted very politely by the front receptionist. She gave me a form to fill out since I am a new patient. I wanted teeth cleaning done along with x-rays to see if I had any cavities. I had cracked my front tooth and wanted to get that fix. I filled out the one sheet paper front and back of questions about my insurance and some health questions. I was seeing right away and sat down on the chair. X-Rays were done by the assistant and she was very nice and polite. After my X-Rays were done the dentist greeted me and checked my teeth. He told the assistant I needed 2 fillings but he didnt explain where the fillings were at nor did he explain anything to me. I had to ask the assistant. The dental assistant told me I needed a crown for my chipped front tooth. The Dentist cleaned my teeth first and he didnt ask me once if I was okay. When I seeing and heard him use that intrument where he picks my teeth with my anxiety started. I clenched my lips and he got mad at me not to do that and again I have anxiety. He didnt ask me if I was okay during that whole process. He could of been more gentle and made me feel more comfortable but he didnt. That is why I am giving this dentist 3 stars. read more
