Farnsworth House Bed & Breakfast

We were in the area for a wedding in May. We got a recommendation from a relative for the B&B and…read moreso glad we stayed there. The other reviews are accurate. The hosts are part of charm of this B&B. We got a demo of the player pianos and tour of the collection of cars. Bill and John were renovating their kitchen while we were there, but we were still treated to home-made yogurt and muffins and some of the best waffles I have ever had. We hope to return to see what they have done. Our Art Deco Hollywood suite was very comfortable and private. And, yes, we could lock the door. The grounds and gardens outside were beautiful. The experience could not have been better. We want to go back.

I have stayed at many hotels and Bed & Breakfasts and I have to say that this one is unlike any…read moreother that I have encountered. First, let's start with the hosts, Jon and Bill. They are wonderful! They do anything they can to make their guests feel like they belong. If you are looking for great repartee or to enjoy a quiet evening alone, either way, they will happily oblige. Then there is the food! Everything is made from scratch...including the yogurt! Finally, there is the house itself. Enjoy mechanical music? Boy have they got it! There are at least four grand reproducing pianos, a pianola, a full player organ, numerous rare music boxes, and victrolas and radios of every sort. Then there is the collection of rare clocks...to many to count. During the summer, you will probably receive a tour of the spectacular antique car collection which includes two Franklin Automobiles and an American LaFrance roadster, to name a few. By the way, each suite is clean and well appointed and boasts a unique theme! Go, enjoy, have fun!!!

Bed and Breakfast. Terrific hosts, an excellent site for discovering Gettysburg, beautiful,…read morepeaceful property. We selected a room apart from the.main house on the first floor with both a front and rear entrance. The front porch complete with wooden rocking chairs; the back exit a large patio with four.tables and accompanying chairs. Plenty of.shade and relaxing garden. We spent two nights heading back to CLE via Shanksville (Flt 93) and Johnstown (1880's Flood). I referred to this as our Vacation of Death) Gettysburg, 5000; Shanksville, 40, Johnstown, 2000! Gettysburg brought tears to.my eyes as I thought of all these young lives lost to man's stupidity. Fly 93's heroics and Johnstown's resilience. On the upside, we saw Flank Loyd Wright's. "Falling Water" and spent two nights at Seven Springs Mountain Resort, which BTW is a 5 Star.

Positives: Dawn was extremely friendly, and we got to meet one of her kittens. I think she genuinely wanted us to feel welcome. The B&B is in a convenient location if you want to explore the shops around the square. Negatives: Everything in the room felt like it needed an update. The bed itself and bathroom were clean, but the rest of the room didn't feel extremely clean. The carpet was stained pretty badly, which gives me "Icks". The shower is also VERY small. I'm not sure how a large man would make that work. The biggest problem we had was that, when she took us to our room, she informed us that we would be having breakfast at a restaurant down the street in the morning. She handed us a beat up menu and said to tell them we were a guest there. We were pretty taken aback. Part of the reason we booked this B&B, or any B&B for that matter, is the homemade breakfast experience, prepared by your host. The description on the website, bragged about her wonderful breakfasts. Once we figured out that the "restaurant " was actually a bar and grill, we decided to go find a good breakfast out of town. So, we paid twice for our breakfast. Our trip to Ligonier was nice, but the B&B experience was a little disappointing. You may want to make sure she's serving breakfast

Hilton, Indiana, PA…read more So, last night was my first time staying at the Hilton in Indiana, Pa which is right next to the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I am in my doctoral program and yesterday marked my third year with my cohort. In the past, I have been staying at the Hampton because it was cheaper, but for some reason, the Hilton was cheaper than the Hampton last night. Therefore, I got to experience it. Of course, I am a Hilton Honors member and so I ALWAYS enjoy the digital key and not having to check in at the front desk. This Hilton is absoulutely gorgeous. It has a great ambiance as soon as you walk in with a variety of spaces to sit and relax. By surprise, this hotel as a bar and restaurant and some of my cohort classmates enjoyed a few good cocktails that were made by Linda. After our time at the bar with the amazing bartender, Linda, I went to my room. I purchased a King bedroom and it met my standards. Everything was clean and the bathroom was great. I will make sure that I purchase my rooms for the next 4 stays that I have to visit IUP. If you have a student who may be graduating from IUP. This is the hotel you want to stay at.

The room was a good size and you could see the IUP campus from the windows. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. I miss the free breakfast " hiltons" although I do get a credit towards the room being a diamonds member it probably isn't worth it for a continental breakfast. One thing I will say this Hotel had daily housekeeping, which was very nice to come back to clean towels and a reset bed. There is a single dose, Keurig machine with multiple K cups in case you can't get down to the main lobby for the free coffee.
