The hosts are part of charm of this B&B. We got a demo of the player pianos and tour of the collection of cars. Bill and John were renovating their kitchen while we were there, but we were still treated to home-made yogurt and muffins and some of the best waffles I have ever had. We hope to return to see what they have done. Our Art Deco Hollywood suite was very comfortable and private. And, yes, we could lock the door. The grounds and gardens outside were beautiful. The experience could not have been better. We want to go back.

They are wonderful! They do anything they can to make their guests feel like they belong. If you are looking for great repartee or to enjoy a quiet evening alone, either way, they will happily oblige. Then there is the food! Everything is made from scratch...including the yogurt! Finally, there is the house itself. Enjoy mechanical music? Boy have they got it! There are at least four grand reproducing pianos, a pianola, a full player organ, numerous rare music boxes, and victrolas and radios of every sort. Then there is the collection of rare clocks...to many to count. During the summer, you will probably receive a tour of the spectacular antique car collection which includes two Franklin Automobiles and an American LaFrance roadster, to name a few. I was Very pleased with my choice, The Heritage House Suites! It was affordable for one night, close and very charming. The Master's Suite: 15 foot ceilings, large windows that had shutters for privacy ( which I Loved personally), beautiful hardwood floors, large square deep bath/shower, full kitchen with microwave, fridge, oven stove, coffee maker, dishes & silverware, two extra large wine glasses for the wine I brought along. The suite was quiet and very cozy. They offer free wifi, and free parking. They have a Beautiful wraparound porch to sit on during the afternoon or early evening but we didn't get a chance to enjoy, will the next visit !! We will definitely stay again as well as Highly recommend to family and friends... The only think I would suggest to management would be more of a cable or TV package, viewing was limited and nothing to watch. They offer a DVD player to watch a movie but we didn't bring any and the suites didn't offer any collection. ( bring your own movies ) Tracey was Wonderful !! I had the pleasure of staying two nights at Heritage House Inn and Suites, and I do mean…read more"pleasure." Sure, I could have stayed at a cookie-cutter chain hotel in this university town, but for just a few dollars more, I rented the Master's Suite, literally half of the second floor of this beautiful Victorian mansion, which came equipped with a huge sitting room, a full (private) bath, and a complete kitchen. The kitchen was the selling point for me when booking the room, since I'm on a strict diet and need to be able to cook fresh food (rather than rely on fast-food and takeout). To be clear, this is NOT a bed and breakfast. There are no common areas in the house, and the innkeepers do not provide meals. It's really more of a furnished rental, available for short and long-term stays in Indiana. Pros: Comfortable bed and sitting room furniture, full kitchen, WiFi, cable TV service, full bath, complimentary bottled water and snack basket, off-street parking, walking distance to restaurants and shops. Plus the staff is very friendly and helpful and their pre-arrival communications (confirmation emails) are excellent. Cons: Neither of these should reflect poorly on the innkeepers or Heritage House. But I have to mention them: 1. Noise. Bring your earplugs (I always travel with mine) because 6th Street is apparently a major artery and every pickup truck with a bad muffler in Indiana County must drive past the house between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. 2. Street construction. Indiana is tearing up a bunch of streets, including School Street, which requires the roads crew to barricade the street to any motor traffic. Unfortunately, Heritage House's private parking lot is accessed via School Street, so it's impossible to get to the Inn between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. According to Becki (who clued me to the secret of taking the alley halfway down School Street to escape the lot during the day), this construction has been going on for months, so be aware you may need to delay your arrival until after 5 or sundown, whichever comes firts. Bottom-line, this was a wonderful stay and I would heartily recommend Heritage House Inn and Suites to anyone looking for a comfortable, private alternative to the Comfort Inn.

In the early morning hours and sometimes even during the day - the surrounding hills cover with fog and you feel like you're standing on an island in the middle of the ocean. It's utterly breathtaking. (I highly recommend staying in the upstairs bedroom! Super comfy beds, an awesome bathroom/shower, and a perfect view of the rolling hills!) A large group of wedding vendors and I photographed a styled wedding on the property and we couldn't have been happier with the end result. There are acres and acres of beautiful trails to walk, a large pond full of fish, an awesome bonfire and outdoor bar, as well as a beautiful barn on the land. The space is utterly perfect for country or outdoor weddings! I cannot wait to visit again - both for professional reasons and for personal! (Also, the owners, Sandy and Lou are two of the sweetest people I've ever met! If you love stories about history - ask them questions! They have so many great tales to tell!)

At that time, it felt like a true bed-and-breakfast experience with thoughtful personal touches (guests were welcomed with a bottle of wine, breakfast was full and clearly made with care, and the overall atmosphere felt warm and attentive). Over the past couple of years, especially since the addition of their second location, I've noticed some changes in the overall experience. The level of personal interaction feels more limited than it used to, and check-in and general hospitality have become more minimal. I do understand how difficult it can be to find and retain good staff in the hospitality industry, and I appreciate the effort that goes into running a business like this. The biggest change for me has been the food and dining experience. They are no longer offering a bottle of wine in the room, but a glass of wine ordered at the bar. Breakfast, which used to be a real highlight is now much more basic and doesn't feel as thoughtfully prepared as it once did. Pricing has also increased, while the overall food offerings have decreased in both variety and quality. One of our favorite extras used to be the charcuterie platter for two, which we would order one each stay and enjoy in our room. We've stopped ordering it because both the portion size and product quality no longer felt consistent with the price or with our earlier experiences. Overall, I still like Deer Creek Inn, our favorite rooms are the Brooks Deluxe Suite and the Celebration room. We will continue to visit occasionally, but it no longer has quite the same special feel it once did for us, so I won't be going as often as I used to.

You can smell the history! There is a fireplace for cool nights and one very small hidden tv which was turned on once in 3 days and that was to watch Little House on the Prairie! Breakfast each day? Delectable!

I can't wait to go back to stay at the elegant but reasonably priced bed and breakfast right on the premises. The day I was there, I noticed they were setting up for a private event, a birthday luncheon on the deck of the guest house with a top chef, live Spanish guitar, and roses on the tables, it looked fabulous, and so romantic. The Barns were decorated with twinkling white lights and the stage was jumping with the sounds of "the girls in black hats". The Farm has a 5 star bed and breakfast for $125/night!!
