When I ordered two new pairs of cotton walking pants last month I noticed my favorite pant brand…read morehad arrived with extreme bell bottoms. These are not just casual flair legged pants either, they are a full 12 inches across at the hem, which is just insane for a cotton pant I use to take our Aussies to the dog park. I looked up the best tailor in Kalamazoo and Golden Needle repeatedly popped up, so two Saturdays ago we stopped by and explained my problem. First the gentleman working was really sympathetic to my problem. He agreed that the flair was ridiculous and he understood that I was nervous about taking too much away, but at the same time not taking enough - I explained that I'm not big on change. We agreed he would alter one pair of my pants and we would come in the following week. Yesterday (Saturday) we stopped in and as agreed he took off over 1.5 inches from each leg and the pants were still too big. We agreed that each leg would come in another inch and then I gave him my other pairs to alter as well. The pair I tried on was lovely (albeit too big) and did not look like it had been altered at all. As a bonus we got to meet his little french bulldog puppy, who he keeps gated in the back. He lets her out for customers who ask. She was a delight and I probably had way too much fun playing with her, but I'm a dog person and she was just too adorable to resist. I will pick up my multi-pocket walking pants next week, minus the flair and I will not hesitate to use the Golden Needle in the future if we need any clothing alterations.

I like this crew for many reasons. Quality service. I drop it off and they get it done when promised. I can trust higher quality pieces of attire to them knowing I'll get it back looking great. I once accidentally gave them a very badly stained t-shirt that I had planned to use as a rag but it somehow ended up in my laundry bag. The returned it to me looking beautiful and removed stains out of that thing I didn't ever think would come out. Honesty. I once left $20 in a pair of pants and got it back. I would never have even known it was gone. Prompt Service. They get it done quickly. I'm always asked when I'd like my stuff back. I'm typically in no hurry so I just tell them whenever. On those occasions when I do need it quickly they've gotten it done within a day. I do have to ding em one star - The yearly coupon. Every year you have the opportunity buy a discount coupon good for a year. It goes in the handy little tag holder on my laundry bag. You have to have it to receive the discount. That's a problem if you have more than one dry cleaning bag as I'll often drop off one bag and then fill the other over the next week or so at home. So I more or less get my discount when I bring the right laundry bag. The other times - no discount. It could probably be entered in the computer under my name or tracked some other way. Otherwise, all good here!
