heritage has been on my hit list ever since i discovered that they had a vegan crunch wrap. we already had breakfast plans so i did not get the crunch wrap this time but i did get a delicious matcha and doughnut. they had a few specials in addition to their regular menu. we got the blueberry basil matcha and the banana bread latte. i loved my matcha. it was very sweet and the basil flavor was the star. i didn't get much blueberry flavor but it was still good to me. my partner got the banana bread latte which he was not particularly impressed by. it was lacking the banana flavor and really just tasted like cinnamon. they also had beacon doughnuts which was a pleasant surprise. regardless if you're vegan or not, these doughnuts are cherished by all (most). the staff were nice and the vibes of the space were sunny and warm. one day i will be back for the crunch wrap. read more

I'll come here occasionally to get work done. It's far enough from home so I need to focus while here but still only a mile or so walk. I usually get the cold brew and like the coffee they use. I've gotten the food a handful of times and no complaints with the taste. I recently had the chipotle chicken wrap and it was really tasty. The main cons I have for this place are: 1) WiFi can be pretty spotty. Every time I'm here it goes out multiple times. 2) They give chips for the sandwiches but not for the wraps, even though they are the same price. This isn't on the menu anywhere and there's a basket of chips sitting out where you pick up food. I asked if they are included and the guy said for the sandwiches, but not the wraps. WTF?! So because I chose a wrap instead of bread as what's holding the ingredients (but paid the same price), I'm not getting chips?! It's not the chips, it's the thinking behind this policy that I take issue with because it makes zero sense. Put something on the menu about it and/or change the price to reflect this. I've never used the bike services but they seem to stay busy. read more

Adding the lox bagel to my previous review - it was really good! The only thing I will add is that it gets very very busy during peak hours, and sometimes the food will take a longer time (this took approx. 30min) - I do love their coffee and matcha selection, so I'll continue coming back! read more

I am leaving this review solely for the vegan crunch wrap on their menu. It's so good and the perfect hangover cure. It's a bit on the pricey and but honestly it's worth it. You get a fat wrap out of it! not to mention their coffee is delicious too. they have a bunch of fun bike shop merch you can shop from as well. Cute coffee shop that also has food and indoor/outdoor seating. I love the lavender latte. They also have specialty drinks for the holidays. For example, winter is salty mint mocha and biscoff latte. I haven't tried the food, but they serve breakfast sandwiches and focaccia. They have donuts from do rite which are delicious. There are tables inside for small and big groups. Talk about amazing vibes! And easily one of my favorite matchas (made with some honey and macadamia milk). It has a vibrant color so you know it's a great quality tea. Just so smooth so pleasant so wow! I also got a buckwheat chocolate chip cookie that has a wheaty forward taste and a grainy texture - and although that sounds off putting it's quite delicious and makes a for a fun different sweet treat! Such a cute neighborhood coffee spot + bike shop! I came in around 12:30 pm on a Sunday and both sides of the store were packed but luckily a girl let me share the table with her. I got their speciality biscoff latte with macadamia milk and a vegan crunch wrap (recommended by the cashier) and it came out to $22, which is a bit pricey in my opinion but the quality was incredible. The ice latte was smooth and the crunch wrap was piping hot, cooked to order and filled with flavor. They have free WiFi but can get super crowded on the weekends. Limited outlets but there's an outdoor area to sit at which is spacious. Service was incredible and fast- will definitely come back. read more

Coffee shops that have good food are always a 10 for me! I got the breakfast burrito and a cappuccino to study on a Saturday morning and I loved both! Very fresh, big portions, and really good coffee. The ambiance is great. I came at 8:45 on a Saturday morning and was able to get a good seat to work at. It definitely filled up as the morning went on (very busy around 10:30/11). The baristas were super kind and I got the feeling they knew a lot of neighborhood regulars which was nice. There's all different seating but is more conducive to "stay for awhile" rather then "stay all day working on your laptop". The menu is small but mighty. Elevated from fast food but still "fast" food heated up in a convection oven. But goooooood. The other side is bikes- tune ups, paint jobs, etc. The nice thing about Heritage is finding a part for your bike (drink holder! Ass saver!) that you kinda need but haven't bought yourself yet. Definitely recommend checking out this spot for a coffee break or a good Matcha ! I usually get the Matcha, which is not too sweet. So, i add Lavender in it. I feel it's quite pricey- cost came to $8 with taxes. They have a bike store & also a repair section as well! Service was pretty quick as well! Oh wow what a cool neighborhood café! I'm working in Lincoln Park this week and just stumbled on this place, around the corner from a fab new bookstore! This is the best lunch hour I've had in months!! Able to get a nice big lunch, with a few great vegetarian and vegan options! $17 plus tip. Reasonable. Terrible service and the one sandwich I ordered took 35 minutes. Ridiculous. And along with that the food and coffee aren't even that good.

Multiple times I've seen baristas chowing down on their lunch behind the counter, licking their fingers, and then going straight to serving coffee without washing their hands! So gross. Come on guys, if I'm going to pay $25 for a breakfast sandwhich, at least take your lunch break somehere else and WASH YOUR HANDS. read more

Highly recommend Heritage! My review is based on the cafe. We ordered the specialty Biscoff latte, tea (real leaves!), plus a breakfast sandwich and vegan breakfast wrap. WOW! The food was so flavorful, beautifully presented--beyond what I would have expected for what I assumed was mainly a coffee shop. This is a legit little brunch spot, for sure. I'm so glad we ordered food in addition to drinks! The decor is also really cute and obviously bike-themed. They also have a merch shop in the front. The back is where the bike repair part lives. I had no idea this place existed but we were in the area on a Sunday morning and in desperate need of caffeine so we found the closest coffee shop on google and checked it out. I'm so glad we did! The coffee alone was incredible. I got a vanilla latte and my husband got a pumpkin spice and both beverages were made well and tasty. Way higher quality than what you would get at a Starbucks. When I arrived the staff was super friendly and suggested some fun drinks like a dreamsicle coffee and lavender latte. I went with the vanilla latte with oat milk though, because I know what I like and I'm #basic. But wow, this latte blew my expectations out of the park. SO GOOD! And creamy, which is my favorite. The place is adorable. The coffee shop side is relatively smaller with a few smaller tables to sit or work at along with a long community table. If you wander around the corner, you'll enter the bike shop, which is where we worked out of. There are tables along the walls and a bike maintenance set up in the back. Bikes (and parts) line the wall like art. The dude working on this side was welcoming, and even asked us if the music was too loud at one point (which it was not - woo!). How quiet it is here was one of my favorite parts. I think because it is so big with two store fronts, there's plenty of space to spread out and get as much work done as you want. A few hours in I decided to try out some food and ordered the grilled cheese. This was SO good. The bread was perfectly crispy on the outside but still soft. It came with a jalapeno jam that was the star of the show. Also served with a side of kettle chips which were fantastic. I honestly can't wait to come back. Is just LOVELY. From the warmth of the old-fashioned surroundings to the radiance of the barrista as she prepares your coffee, this place always makes my heart smile. Wow 5 years later and Heritage is even more an established coffee brand in the city with their various locations. My first time to the OG location in a while, and pandemic-wise they've expanded their outdoor seating with a curb knockout (really pretty - coffee under the the steeple of St Alphonsus Catholic Church) and more seating in the adjecent lot by their airstream. Staff very friendly, vibe great. coffee good. Still holding back the 5 stars because: 1. Wifi is crazy slow (5mbs or less) and nearly unusable outside, making that covid-safe seating not very helpful for getting anything done 2. Still, inexplicably, refuse to post prices on their menu. it can't be that hard. 3. Still only using disposables. We world has tripled landfill waste during the pandemic, and the National Restaurant Assoc. says that disposables are not part of fighting covid. read more

I brought my bike in for a tune up since I knew this was a local shop, and they were amazing! The man I spoke with was very upfront about what my bike needed and made it clear he didn't want to do anything that wasn't needed to save costs. He said a 3-5 day turnaround, but it was done in just a day! When I picked it up, it ended up being even cheaper than expected because some of the parts didn't actually need replacing. A marriage of my favorite things- coffee and bikes. I am visiting so I don't have my two BBFs (best bike friends) with me, but I would surely support this place if I needed bike support. Visiting on a Tuesday, late morning, I found the staff is cheerful and swift. I got an Americano (my litmus test for a good coffee shop) and a pistachio pandan croissant. My coffee was smooth and served in a nice homey mug with a saucer. The baked good was served on a somewhat too big metal tray. I see the aesthetic, but it was a bit much.  I appreciate a varied array of baked good but not an onslaught of options. The deli looked great too- I parked myself at a tall bar along the wall near the deli counter. Only thing that was weird is the large amount of dust clumped in the air vent on the floor. I wouldn't have noticed but I plugged in my computer at an outlet near the floor and the air grate was right there, all covered in dust.  A place to work, but also I saw many people sit and chat with friends. read more

Heritage is a great place to buy a sandwich AND a bicycle! Been here many times for some coffee and to walk around and scope out the bikes. The staff here is friendly and always great to work with. They know their stuff when it comes to bikes and have always been helpful to me. They also have an outdoor seating area, which is great when the sun is out.
