I shopped around for , and can tell you, that they are reasonable/affordable where I feel, there is room for improvement: the moving team making sure they understand what the client expect and as necessary contact the customer as instructed. "Not my first rodeo" with moving, so when the time came, I read a lot of reviews, made a lot of calls asked every question imaginable, and got a lot of estimates. My 3bd 2.5ba house, (including a STUFFED attached garage) coughed out a wide array of estimates. The least expensive (by far!) came from Hercules Moving. A staff member from Hercules Moving stopped by the day after I called, to do a walk-thru of my home and issue an accurate estimate. I was confident that an UNDERestimation was out of the question; last thing I'd want to deal with on my moving day would be handling double the moving costs because someone made a "Whoopsie!" Approximately 10am, a 26' moving truck rolls into my driveway and a crew of four gentleman (with a great attitude!) introduce themselves; Louis, Fernando, John and Guy#4 (Can't-remember-his-name). We do a quick walk-thru, I point out what stays, what go's and they take off! Three-and-a-half hours later, my whole house/garage is packed. Televisions/Mirrors/Glass furniture has been carefully wrapped in blankets. Outstanding items have been combined in boxed (that Hercules provided). Beds, tables and sofas have all been dismantled. We're walking the house to double-check their impeccable work, and PRESTO! Off to Brooklyn! When we got to the new place, one guy had jumped ship on the way, so the crew was down to Louis, Fernando and John. Those three guys worked such impeccable magic!! We bought the crew pizza/soda for lunch (Please! Do this for your moving crew!!!) and they took the shortest break to choke down a couple slices, then back at it. I can't thank Hercules Moving.... specifically Louis, Fernando and John ENOUGH!! My new place is an old 1800's brownstone; walk-up, narrow staircase, narrow doorways - NOT EASY! These three guys were totally up for the challenge. I'd recommend them to anyone. read more

I had a move in July, they moved 3 TVs for me but I was only able to connect 2 out of the 3. I was finally able to hand the 3 and there was a crack. I called, it had been a few days and no one has called me back. I spoke to someone after 3 day (I called back) and they indicated that they would call me back as the secretary was not in the office. I called 2 days after that and someone answered on a cell phone. I explained the situation and he attacked me on the phone saying, the crack is not his fault and "it has nothing to do with us." I understand it's been a while but like I was trying to explain to him, they moved three TVs for me two of them i was able to use right away but the third TV I needed mounted on the wall because it did not have a stand and I needed somebody to put it on the wall for me, that did not happen until a month later. Their lack of response and unprofessionalism is telling. They had no issue stalking me to charging my deposit, but now I can't get a call back to address this issue... PROFESSIONALLY. They also ripped my leather chair. You guys came highly recommended and I can't believe that this is how you're handling the situation. Don't use them. read more

Eil quoted a price of $750 and when the movers showed up the price was increased. The lead of the three movers argued with me, called Eli, and then I received more grief about what was to be charged even though there was an email listing the full cost. Box spring frame for mattress was placed upside down and I had to pull the entire bed apart and correctly reassemble. Not sure I would recommend. read more

I recently used Hercules for a move from NJ to PA. The first time I used Hercules was Oct. 2017. The move from North Jersey went as planned Nd I decided to use Hercules again this past November. I did not go out for comparative bids as I felt they did a good job in 2017. The moving van and a crew of 4 showed up nearly an hour late. But I lived in a small ranch home in a 55 and over community and did not think that would be an issue. The four man crew did what was required except for the following: 1.Ali in sales had underbid the work required and sent a truck that was too small to take all my stuff. I was left with a nearly garage full of stuff that did not fit on the truck. When I called to complain, Ali said he wuold help take care of it. The day after the move he called and told me his mistake was not a mistake but he could send a 2 man crew for moving the balance of the stuff in the garage for $900.00. In other words, I am sorry I made a mistake ,by underpricing the move so you will need to pay me again to the tune of $900. The price for the move was $2,650.00 and all they needed to do was send the right size truck. See picture of overflow not loaded in garage: 2. When there is a crew of 4 and only one man was devoted to packing a lot of things are happening at one time. When we were nearly finished without all the stuff in the garage. i tried to close my front storm door. Unbeknownst to me,they had broken the storm door and twisted the frame to such an extent that the door would no longer close properly. It amazed me that experienced movers had not disconnected the door closer nor taken my front door off its hinges. See this picture of storm door. Could not load the on Yelp. 3. Finally, there were was a glass picture frame that was not wrapped or boxed that was placed in the back of the truck between the truck roll up door and boxes or furniture. Naturally, that fell to the ground and shattered on the ground when the door was opened. In summary dont use Hercules movers if your expecting experienced professionals. All the crew spoke Spanish and only one clearly spoke English. The crew worked very hard and I still tipped them separately, but beware of The Hercules practice of supplying an undersized truck for your move so that you have to pay them twice to accomplish the same thing. These guys were very reasonably priced, and arrived on time. One of the crew members was openly lazy and constantly complained and moaned about everything to the point that the other 2 guys were having to do most of the work. This guy needs to find another line of work, because you are employed in this job for your ability to carry heavy things. I'd recommend them due to the reasonable pricing and because they arrived on time. Hopefully you won't have to deal with the lazy complainer.. read more

I am very disappointed. Very bad experience with the lack of commitment agreed when we closed the deal. They supposed to be responsible for everything they packed and it didn't happen. They packed my Tv and art wall pieces made by glass with just a blanket ! and of course they would be broken after a long distance moving. Very amateur team. The worst happened when I complained about it , the owner Eli said they the tv glass was not broken outside so even if the tv was not working it was not their fault. In summary , before the moving I had a new and great tv working and now I will have to spend over 1,000 dollars to buy a new one. Unbelievable lack of commitment trying to find excuses for not accomplishing with their mistakes. Not a trustful company/owner. read more

When it was finally delivered to my new home, we received a big mess. An expensive coffee table was in shambles and so were other items, such as numerous dishes, china, souvenirs, picture frames. The sofa was delivered only on the second attempt. 4 boxes including various items such as tools, very important personal items, all custom jewelry that was packed in there were lost and never were recovered. The piano bench was never received either. I made many phone calls, submitted photos of broken items, but to no avail. It gave us such a mental stress that is still lingering. We also had to give a delivery person (who finally brought a missing leather sofa bed) an extra tip to help us get rid of the heavy broken coffee table and other broken pieces. We submitted a claim to their insurance company which pays basically nothing, but whatever is missing and broken will never be recovered. read more

Movers were very professional, timely and courteous. They handled my furniture with care and pricing was great. I shopped around and they had the best prices, and they were very accommodating with day and time I needed. I had very bulky and heavy furniture and they moved it with no problem. I recently used Hercules Movers ,not only to move my belongings , but to pack my entire condo. HUGH, HUGH, HUGH MISTAKE! I was robbed. When I unpacked, the dustbag that had protected my vintage, limited edition , numbered (458) ,Louis Vuitton bag had a hat in it. Also, a new unopened curling iron and iPad were also missing. Look elsewhere if you are considering movers! This company had to close their prior account on Yelp (https://www.yelp.com/biz/hercules-movers-perth-amboy) because of bad reviews. We trusted Ali and his company, and they not only stole and broke items but then would not admit to their mistakes. I called the company to see if their insurance would cover the lost and damaged items, and Ali spent half an hour interrupting me. He then said he would call back with a resolution. A week passed, and I had to call back myself. He told me the company would be willing to send us a check for $100 but only if I signed a contract stating I would not leave a negative review online. Hope you can all save yourselves the time and money and avoid this company and its sad attempts at manipulating its customers. read more

I decided to use them because they had the lowest quote (Even though Ali was 1/2 hour late to our appointment) well, you get what you paid for. The movers were SO slow and on their phones all day. We ended up going over time which costed us an additional $500 over the estimated quote. I am 7 months pregnant and ended up moving more boxes then the men. My dad and husband had to move our washer and dryer. They wanted to stop at 7PM and come back a couple days later to finish, which was impossible considering the house was no longer ours. I can't believe how many boxes I had to lift while pregnant just to get everything out of the house. It was an awful experience. read more

So stressed moving my mother's things from NJ to NC. Hercules Movers were amazing! They picked up from the storage unit in NJ and the guys couldnt have been nicer or more professional. Eli at the office was great in communicating and a week later my mom's beautiful things were here in NC! And again, the guys delivering were amazing! Furniture and boxes were in perfect shape. The worse moving company ever! BEWARE! I moved back in Nov 2018 from one side of town to the other. Only to be hit with even more $$$ out of my pocket for using Hercules Movers. They broke our 60" Vizio tv. They sent me through movingclaims.net another B.S. site to waste 6 month to get a $68 settlement. I was patient and courteous. I gave them a call regarding the amount and Ali the manager/sale rep said I don't want to wash my hand but we can do $100. The most sleazy moving company ever. How is a 60" TV valued at any amount below $500. Also, the insurance that they don't mention to you when signing the contract still does not cover the damages. They will be sued for false claims on their site stating they are bonded and insured. read more

I used these guys to move furniture form my mother's home to their storage facility after she passed. The move was on time and fast. The furniture were well wrapped and gently handled. The movers were extremely nice and friendly, which I highly appreciate since this was emotionally difficult for me I and I didn't want to deal with any problems. Had a very disappointing experience with Hercules. After Ali Amin, the salesman who sold us the job, visited our home and assured us that with minor purging all contents of the home would not fit into the 26 foot truck for our out-of-state move, on the day of the move it wouldn't all fit (despite our purging and deciding not to move the extra refrigerator and grill that were on the original scope). Even that day itself he and the foreman kept insisting "it will all fit". At 3pm when i could clearly see the challenge they agreed and said, well it won't fit. I had to on my own find a UHaul that i rented and had to drive that myself to Boston late through the night. And the strange thing is that even the medium sized UHaul was pretty much full. We had also paid for packing and unpacking services and after unloading the foreman threw a fit when i told him there was unpacking to do swearing that never in his several years of working as a mover had he unpacked! After a heated phone call with his supervisor him and the crew grumpily did the unpacking but just to get it done, and carelessly. We had to ask them to leave without having unpacked 6 boxes that still had to be opened. Further, this crew had no clue how to pack and as a result there was breakage - a set of candle stands, coffee cups, and other China did not survive. I did a lot of research when looking for a moving company. I called about 7 different companies. Ali was one of the first to call me back and scheduled an estimate for 2 days later. Ali was very nice and professional. The quote he gave me was fair compared to competitors in the area. I was even thinking of renting a truck myself and finding 2 random guys to do the move for me but because of past experiences where I try to do things on the cheaper side I always end up regretting it. I figured I have nice furniture so let's do things the "right" way. Long story short Ali gave me a flat quote which I requested but now thinking about it I probably would have been better off if I would have chosen the "hourly rate" because the 3 guys who arrived worked so well and quickly together that it would have been cheaper for me. They finished in 2.5 hours (I was moving out of a 2 family house. My family lived on the main floor in a 3 bedroom apartment. We did all the packing ourselves and removed everything before the movers got there so the job was simple and straight to the point (furniture ONLY- I'm adding this because my experience with them was for that only and not for them to do our packing for us.) The 3 guys who came were Claudio, Tyreek and Josh. They came prepared with the tools/equipment they needed to disassemble most of the furniture. Very nice guys, very professional. They got RIGHT to work, didn't waste any time. The home we were moving to was located in the same town about 5 miles away. I will more then likely be using them again when I move in a couple of months. Moving sucks but I recommend them. Pros: efficient, friendly, quick, everything arrived in one piece Cons: if I HAD to write something negative it would only be to give the customer a courtesy call about half an hour before arriving BUT they were on time so thanks again guys !!!! read more

If I could give them a half a star I would. First the price quoted for the completed job was BS. After 8 hours the job was still not done. I was told I had to pay the OT cost incurred because it went over the 8 hour mark which is BS. Then my mother was told that not everything would fit in the truck and to finish the move they would need a 2nd truck at a cost $350.00 not including the manpower. this was a long distance move. Hercules movers company ripped me off - big time. i would have gladly paid them had they delivered all of my stuff in one piece. instead the 2 men arrived in a rented truck after drinking beer and continued drinking while unloading. my stuff looked like someone had a field day bowling in the back of the rented truck. more than half of my stuff was stolen and much of what i received was damaged. We had an appointment to get an estimate for our upcoming move. Amir canceled it and rescheduled for another day. He was supposed to by here on 5/20/16 between 11 am and 12 pm. He called my husband and said he was running late and would not be here for a couple of hours. I said forget it! If we can't depend on them to be here on time for an estimate how can we depend on them to be here on time on moving day? We can't! We don't need that kind of stress. We will also be moving my mother from a different address so it was two homes being moved to one address.
