5 stars honestly does not do this place justice. It is not an exaggeration to say this place changed my life. I cannot recommend Dr. Gabriella Rivera enough! Long story short, I had never tried acupuncture before and came into my first appointment with a multitude of complaints. I had been especially struggling with eczema and anxiety. Dr. Rivera made me feel at-ease with the process of acupuncture and recommended a course of treatment. After weekly treatments for a little over 2 months, there is a night and day difference. My eczema has healed to the point where I no-longer need to use steroid creams. My anxiety levels have lowered so much that I no-longer need to have regular therapy sessions. Dr. Rivera has also helped balance my digestive system, hormones and much more. She has even recommended diet and lifestyle changes that have made such a big difference in how I feel. Never. Again. I've gone here since 2020, and acupuncture with Ioana has been my perfect de-stress treat when I've truly needed it. She's worked on my hormones, shoulder, hip, everything. That said, I was turned away from an appointment because after all these years, the front desk refused to let me begin my session before reverifying my insurance online. I was told it would take 5 minutes, and after 15 I mentioned I was on my lunch break and running out of time, and was then told reverification takes days. Great. I waited around for nothing. This was never an issue on return visits in 2021, or 2022. You can literally call the number on the back of my insurance card and verify coverage immediately. I could even pay the full price for the session, and after verification use the credits for future visits. Instead, I was refused service. Great stress reliever. The best is during my wait I asked for help with an overbilling and they promised to follow up by email. The email confirming the overcharge was addressed to the wrong name. Keep your pettiness. Acupuncture really worked! After just one session it eliminated pain and provided an overwhelming sense of relaxation and balance. Herb and Ohm clinic is very professional, clean, has a calming atmosphere, and everyone is polite and caring. Great staff plus the expertise of Dr. Amy. Acupuncture relieved me of pain from my first session. I really couldn't believe that, but it was true and lasted for the whole day! After 6 sessions my pain never came back. The atmosphere is great here and the staff seem friendly and knowledgeable. However, one is asked to sign up for a 2 to 3 month program. Because I've never tried acupuncture obviously I would prefer one or two sessions to see results or at least determine my comfort level. Everyone at Herb + Ōhm is incredible! From Dr. Amy to Kaysie, to Michelle, Lauren, and Hortense, everyone makes you feel right at home as soon as you walk in. I had a back injury from years ago, and I've found that acupuncture combined with dry needling is one of the only ways to attain sustained relief. Finding acupuncturists that can actually do it effectively, though, has been incredibly difficult. To date, I've found just three, of which Dr. Amy and Kaysie are two. The third is in Philadelphia. Whether it's dry needling for my back, or traditional acupuncture to recenter, I always know I'll walk out ready to conquer whatever the world has to throw at me. Stop thinking about it and go! Acupuncture has done what no other treatment or pill could ever do. It got rid of my recurring pain that kept coming back. I no longer have a soreness type of pain after a long day at work. I can stand and walk for long periods of time without pain. I have benefitted tremendously from my treatment here. My daily headaches and migraines have essentially stopped. My upper back pain is gone. My neck and shoulder pain has become totally manageable and barely interferes with my day to day life anymore. I had been wanting to do Accupuncture for awhile now and I'm so glad I found Dr. Gabriella Rivera! I wanted to find someone who was knowledgeable with hormonal imbalances. I searched high and low and came across all of the positive reviews on yelp about her, and I'm so glad I decided to book an appointment! I currently was diagnosed with Endometriosis, Fibromyalgia, and I also have Type 1 diabetes and a Hormonal Imbalance. Before seeing Gabriella, I was having pain in my breasts (pretty bad) , terrible neck and shoulder pain, horrible cramps, acne, anxiety, was tired all of the time, I was feeling just so down all of the time and not like myself. I have had about 7 sessions with her so far and SO much has changed since I started my journey! I can't explain it but my overall energy I can tell has shifted; I don't have nearly as much pain anywhere on my body, my acne has gone down significantly, I have less painful cramps on a daily basis, my mood has been better, my blood sugar has stabilized, and I look forward to my weekly sessions every week! The office space is relaxing, and everyone is super nice! They offer tea before your visit, which I appreciate :) My current insurance doesn't cover Accupuncture under my plan, so I had to pay out of pocket. I'm going to start off by saying I cannot recommend Dr.Amy more! Every single person I've interacted with at herb+Ōhm has been a delight. Emma, who answered my frantic phone call could hear the pain and desperation in my voice; managed to get me in to meet Dr.Amy the very next day. I walked into Herb+ohm on March 29, it was an emergency, I was dealing with excruciating lower back pain that had started 3 days prior. Every day it felt worse and worse, I could barely walk. I had a choice- chiropractor or acupuncture, I knew my body needed a holistic approach and honestly I was afraid of getting an adjustment. I remember going over a treatment plan with Dr.Amy...She made me feel so comfortable, put my anxieties at ease, explained the holistic approach and different modalities that she would use to heal me; in that moment I knew I needed her to treat me. She reminded me healing has its ebb and flow, some days might be better than others and that I needed to trust the process. I am SO glad I did. The plan was simple acupuncture twice a week for three months and then we would reevaluate. I would like to really paint the picture of what I was going through during this injury: I couldn't walk, I couldn't sit for more than 20min without feeling pressure and shooting pain on my lower back. I couldn't climb steps or even get off the curb without the help of my partner. I needed help with every step, I was terrified, but stuck to the plan. Every time I would visit Dr. Amy at herb+ohm I would feel bits of relief; even though I wasn't the most comfortable with needles, her process, technique, and manner gave me so much comfort. I remember my first session, my back was so sensitive that when I took a deep breath could feel the needles in my back because of the amount of pain that I was in. My lower back was highly sensitive and I was extremely nervous, but Dr. Amy's bedside manner and the way she explained everything before she did it, gave me the comfort I needed to keep going back. Every session I took, I felt better and better and to my surprise within about 3 1/2 weeks of two sessions per week, I felt the difference, I was 80% better. I could get on and off Dr. Amy's acupuncture table without any help, which was impossible when I first started; I was able to move around and walk for more than 20 minutes without being in any pain, I felt hopeful and renewed. Exactly two months to the date (May 14) I felt myself moving like I used to before the injury. I found myself going to Dr. Amy and requesting healing for other parts of my body that were sore and not just my lower back. My body finally felt pain-free and back to normal. I cannot recommend Dr.Amy any more. I am writing this review exactly 3 months and a week after my first session, I wanted to get the full experience of following Dr's plan before I started to sing her praises; now I can finally say Dr.Amy and her team, Emma, Elyse and Michelle are AMAZING. Their level of confidence, politeness and care has been unmatched and I highly recommend making an appointment and setting up a treatment plan at herb+ohm that will work for you. The list of ailments I walked into Herb + Ohm with could fill a page. Headaches, neck pain, shoulder pain, sciatica, stomach issues... Dr. Wolf advised me to come twice a week for 6 weeks and she would get rid of all of my pain and start to cure my stomach. I followed all of her exercised, took all of the herbs and made sure to drink the recommended amount of water she told me to each day. I am a new person. When I'm seeking a healthcare provider, there is a list of characteristics I keep in mind during my first visit: - it needs to be welcoming - my wait time is minimal - the provider listens to me - I understand the provider - the provider educates and involves me with decisions about next steps - insurance is accepted and/or the visit is affordable I'm happy to report that H&O met and exceeded all of the above during my first visit. And it is important to mention that 10 months later, I still feel that way every time I have an appointment. A typical experience is as follows: Alexis greets me, offers me tea or water, and invites me to sit and relax. Within a minute or two, Dr. Wolf comes out and asks me to follow her to a room. We sit and talk about how I'm feeling, the progress with my treatment overall, and then we mutually decide what to focus on for that day. Why did I seek out acupuncture in the first place? I had 5 frustrating years of stomach issues that led to multiple hospitalizations and appointments with specialists but resulted in no diagnosis or treatment plan. Enough friends had success with various issues (allergies, fertility, anxiety, chronic pain) through acupuncture that I realized I needed to try something new because typical western medicine was not giving me answers or relief. Long story short - within the 90 minute consultation, Dr. Wolf suspected that I had food allergies and my system was overall weakened due to chronic inflammation and toxicity. I have to admit, I was skeptical that someone could give me an answer so quickly after I'd been to some of the best specialists in the country (and went through many invasive and expensive tests,) AND within the next 3 weeks, it was evident she was right! Treatment plan was acupuncture and the Whole30. Within the first week of Whole30, I was literally shrinking - the inflammation was disappearing. By the end of the month, I lost 12 pounds, eliminated the daily bloating and pain, slept better, my system was regular again, and my body temperature seemed to normalize (versus running hot all day long). The acupuncture, which is always a highlight in my week, gives me the best nap and feeling of strength after every session. Fast forward to 10 months later, I have firm answers on what caused my ailments and I feel in control of my health and well-being again. It is nice to mention that I've lost 35 pounds, I am down to half an allergy pill per day versus 4 medications, and my stomach ailments are resolved (no more meds for that either). Periodically I will come in with some other random ailments (back pain, UTI, sinus issues, PMS, etc.) and I ask if she has any ideas. She always has an answer, the treatment alway works (seriously, I tease her that she works magic), and I am now a huge fan of gua sha. I was looking for an accupuncturist to work on a chronic migraine problem I've had for over 20 years, and I met Amy through a friend. I immediately liked how knowledgeable she was about Chinese medicine and felt comfortable with her demeanor, so I booked a consultation in January. I've been seeing Amy for three months now, and I haven't had a single migraine since I started which is amazing since I usually average at least 1 migraine per month! She has also helped with other issues like stress and anxiety (there are a lot of unusual things going on in my life), and I can honestly say that without her help over the past three months, I would be a complete wreck. Her sessions always make me feel more relaxed and ready for the day. She also is also very conscientious about following-up to see how I'm doing, and discussing my migraine history to book appointments at critical times to get ahead of them rather than treat them. Great service and results! My background-Male, mid 30s, non smoker/moderate drinker. I'd been having breathing problems a few months after moving to Chicago (I chalked it up to the polar vortex). After a few months it started getting worse (prevented me from working out at my usual intensity) so I went to see the doctor and have them check me out. They diagnosed it as GERD and gave me some nexium/pepcid ac and sent me on my way. Sadly this didn't help and I was back at square one except now I was waking up in the middle of the night with shortness of breath. My doctor prescribed an inhaler which helped the symptoms but I was determined to get to the cause. I was introduced to Amy at Herb and Ohm through my wife and before any treatment took place we went through a detailed conversation to gather background information on my breathing issues. The first session was very productive and I felt a lot better that night. The best way to describe it would be that I felt a lightness in my chest and my breathing was smoother. The following sessions felt great as well and the improvement was noticeable but not as dramatic as the first session. Ultimately after 5 sessions I felt significantly better than when I first walked in the door (no more breathing issues). I cannot recommend Herb + Ohm highly enough! If you are having issues with bladder pain, burning, or interstitial cystitis, Jennah is your girl! After months working with a urologist, I was able to control my pain, but it never totally disappeared. After two wonderful sessions with Jennah, things are under control. And Herb + Ohm has truly gone above and beyond during this Covid crisis. I was VERY nervous about just getting my symptoms under control for the first time in about 5 months when the stay at home order came about and I could no longer receive treatment at their office. I started to panic, but I reached out and discovered that Herb + Ohm offered virtual sessions. Jennah and I did a video conference and she showed me a full trigger point therapy session I could do at home on my own (with only my thumbs :)) to manage my symptoms. And my symptoms are being managed VERY well, thanks to her guidance and the great instructions with photos that she provided me. I was reflecting on how much progress I have made since I started seeing Amy in August of last year. Within a month, I was completely off my meds (Flonaise and Zyrtec) and have not had one single sinus infection (generally get 1-2 every month). The infections were so bad they would seep into my gums. Last dental check up I had, my dentist said my gums never looked this good. I have not taken any antibiotics since my acupuncture treatments. But the most remarkable result has to do with my improvement in my emotional well being. This has been an enlightening journey to recovery! I have used physical therapy methods many times before for sports injuries and rely heavily on those types of programs for proper adjustment and healing with medical guidance from a sports medicine primary care physician. I recently wanted to change up that approach to see if this would not only be beneficial in dealing with pain and injury, but removing it completely in a structured program. It worked and am pleasantly surprised at the results. Injured wrist (serious sprain) and tennis elbow were the issues to deal with - and both were healed quickly and fully functional without pain for over several weeks of focused treatment. I began seeing Amy about a year ago to discuss fertility and increase my chances of getting pregnant.
