Loved the small town ambience. Great service! My eggs benedict was good! Needed more hollandaise sauce. My daughter absolutely loved the chocolate chip pancakes. The only thing that left a little to be desired was my husbands steak egg and cheese biscuit...the biscuit completely fell apart as soon as he picked it up. Went for the first time this weekend. We tried breakfast. The staff were nice. Our wait didn't seem as long as they said it'd be. The menu selection is good. The food seemed a bit bland. I love grits but no amount of butter or pepper could make me eat them. I really tried! They had some lumps too. Sorry, Grits Grill has the award for grits. The rest was good. Bacon, eggs; yum. Now This is one of our brother's favorite places - Gary took me there when we did our 1 day and 2 half days trip (as I like to call it!) for dinner the first half day... The Steak was very good but the green beans were so very much from a can... I don't like canned veggies... The Potato Skins were over-cooked and more like wedges with very dry cheese and great bacon on top... If another server wasn't helping I would never gotten more water... Our server just had a blah attitude almost like she didn't care... it might have just been a bad night for her... I'm willing to give it another shot next time we are down with the whole family... but it wouldn't be my first choice. The food was excellent. I ordered the fried platter with shrimp, scallops, oysters & a crab cake with slaw and fries. The portions were more than generous. The food arrived hot and each item of seafood was sweet, tender and fried golden. After coming to the OBX for 65 years, this was my first time at Henry's (a serious oversight since my house is on the beach road at 4.8) and my last meal here, as my wife and I are leaving for Australia to retire and care for my MIL. It could not have been a better send off. The atmosphere is typical OBX, not swish or fancy, just homey and inviting. The staff is friendly and welcoming in the southern tradition "come sit a spell." Breakfast is ok. We've ate there on 3 separate occasions and each time the breakfast is decent. Asked for crispy bacon and it's never remotely crispy. Ask for eggs over medium, get eggs over easy. The taste of the food is the reason for the 3 star review. read more

This restaurant can seat large groups and the line moves FAST! The omelette and pancake eggs breakfast was delicious. We got a side cup of fresh fruit to start while waiting for the food. Came as a teacup full of cut strawberries and nice dollop of whip cream. They have REAL better for the pancakes. This is one place we will come to over and again! Gluten free choices too. read more

Great place for lunch time or breakfast. Came at 1245 hoping to maybe get a late breakfast but when we arrived we were informed that they had already sold out of it. Holy moly was this place good! Service was friendly and fast! We stopped on our way out of the obx on a Saturday morning during the travelers rush. The wait was 20-30 minutes and we were seated in 20. Our waitress was attentive and nice. Our food was fabulous. I got toast, omelet, and home fries. My husband got pancakes and sausage. 11/10 would recommend! Also, the bathrooms were very clean and overall the restaurant was clean and well maintained. read more

I don't usually do this but for a place to be in business for 20+ yrs we were definitely not impressed. First off it was not busy. The waitress took over 10 min to come to our table to even take our drink order. When we did get our tea it tasted spoiled. We both ordered the shrimp it was over cooked and and had a weird taste to it. My boyfriends fries were cold by the time we received our food. Even the salads looked liked they took food off another plate and through it together. We were so disappointed in our food and service. It was the first time we went there and we will not be going back we usually use the 3xs rule but not here. And the food is way over priced for what we got and the service we received and we were missing food as well. I do not recommend going here you'll leave being very disappointed. We ordered takeout so we can't speak to the service. The crab Benedict was ok. The crab had a very fishy flavor to it that was unlike all the other crab we've had this week at other restaurants. The home fries were decent. The pancakes were really good, they are the size of a plate. read more

My boyfriend and I were in town visiting and the locals recommended this place. At first it doesn't seem like much but the environment is incredible! The waitresses were super friendly and they were all standing watching the tables to see if the customers needed anything. You hardly ever see that anymore! Everyone usually is on their phone. We were interested in a nice dinner with good food, but were disappointed. My wife ordered the prime rib thinking you really can't go wrong with that. Sadly the meat was tough and grisly. My wife couldn't cut it, I had to. The flavor leaned more to a liver taste. When I complained to the waitress, she just walked away (yes, I was being pleasant). My popcorn shrimp and clam strips were okay. The sides were okay as well. They promote their breakfast, so maybe that's what they're good at. read more

We went to Henry's for breakfast and got seated right away. The only problem was we sat there for over 10 minutes before a sever came to our table. No apologies just excuses for lack of service. So on vacation this was the only place we found open on a Tuesday around lunch time with sit in (due to the coronavirus). We get seated right away but no one waited on us for at least 6 mins. A kind waitress stopped and asked had we been taken care of by "our" waitress and I told her no. She said she would go get her. I overheard the waitresses conversation, because we sat close to the entrance and exit do the kitchen and she did not want to take our table. It was just myself and my daughter. So the kind waitress said she would be our waitress. But the person who was supposed to be our waitress was quick to wait on a table if 6 that walked in and sat behind us. Number one rule on breakfast: refill coffee! Took too long for that, in my opinion, especially for a place that it set up like a local version of an IHOP. It's cool and unique, but I'm not sure it's thoughtfully put together or emphasizes quality over quantity. Breakfast prices range from $2.99 to $13.99, which gives any appetite an option. I think we'd come back to get a fast meal but not if we're in the mood for one of the nicer places in OBX. read more

Not the place to go if you actually want service! Friendly enough staff, but never refilled drinks-even when asked to do so. The waitress forgot to bring our stuffed mushrooms with our chowders and when she finally checked on us (after walking by about 10 times) and we asked about them she brought out these dried up mushrooms that had obviously been reheated because they sat so long. The tip was added in for us because our family of 4 was sitting with 3 other family members so it was considered a party, and it was quite a hefty tip, especially for the horrible service and so so food. My Mother ordered an extra plate of broccoli and it was all stems and very few florets, she could not believe that they charged extra for this! Overall, a bad experience for all of us- skip it! A classic three star place to eat, this case breakfast. When you're driving down the road and all the good places have a boy and you need to feed your wife and kid, this place works on a pinch. Servers are pretty friendly. At the chip beef on toast which was pretty solid and the two-year-old at the hotcakes which she seemed happy with. We were headed back from the pier and just plain hungry. We saw this place as we were driving and thought we'd try it out. It was busy! We were behind another couple and waited patiently to be greeted, probably a good 5 min. The menu was ok. I choose a chicken sandwich which was mediocre at best. Couldn't eat the bun as it was completely soggy. My husband chose the beef patty and gravy. He said it wasn't worth the price at all. Our girls got the shrimp platters. They liked it. The service was also mediocre. Didn't clear our plates and I could of used a refill. My advice, go somewhere else! read more
