Here's what we ordered: Mango boba - surprisingly tart and could've used a bit of sweetness Peanut chicken salad - flavorful and refreshing, with noodles at the bottom Fish tacos with sweet potato fries - the beer-battered fish was crispy and delicious While the food was solid and the patio atmosphere was great, the service really impacted our experience. When we were ready to pay, it was difficult to get our server's attention. My husband eventually had to approach her across the patio, and she processed our payment while standing right there. It seemed like they were short-staffed the day we visited, which might explain the delays, but the lack of attention was still frustrating. Overall, good food and a nice setting, but I'd give it 3.5 stars due to the service issues

Extensive menu, lots of choices for both food and drinks. We ordered, and while it took a fair time to get our order (again, it was busy, so I get it), it was so worth it! Our table got a BLT sandwich with tots, a clubhouse with tots, a wild boar smash burger with fries and a chicken wrap with fries. All the food looked picture perfect, and we all had nothing but good things to say about our meals. Our server was honestly a breath of fresh air. Very personable, and despite the bustling atmosphere, took time to have some quick conversations with us, which was a pleasant surprise from the usual bar/pub serving staff. That, along with the food, is the reason we will be back!!

My server was the fantastic Jackie. Down-to-earth friendliness, efficient and helpful. We got along very well. I opted for their Fortunella Gin with Tonic. Fantastic flavors and quite smooth. Two of those and I was feeling fine. For lunch I ordered the Steak Sandwich with a Caesar Salad. The salad was substantial and tasty. The steak sandwich had good flavor, but was tougher and fattier than I hoped for. Jackie also offered exceptional assistance with some merchandise I bought as well. My first visit to Last Best will not be my last. Thanks Jackie!

The wings stole the show; they were crispy and flavorful. I asked for a side of their buffalo sauce and LOVED it. I got the chicken sandwich after that. I wish it had a little more sauce, but still enjoyed it. The side of fries were nicely crisped and tasty as well. My partner order the curry rice bowl with tofu. She enjoyed it, and appreciated how much tofu was in the dish. The beer was great too, which was a pleasant surprise coming from the San Diego beer scene. Finally, our waitress was super friendly and helpful. I'd definitely recommend stopping by.

We enjoyed the better part of 3 hours chatting about our time together at Shell, trading insights on Company news, and talking family and friends. The Bear & Kilt was a great place to catch up. Yes, it's a bit noisy, depending what game is on the television, and it was after all a Friday night. However, with a booth, a "few" wee pints (I walked here, while Jim took public transit), and some pretty good pub grub, our time together flowed easily, and perhaps too quickly. The wait guy, was pretty cool too, and took my joking California requests for organic food with sprouts in great sarcastic stride. This pub is not fine dining (which is available close by), but it sure is a great place for friends to reconnect. Next time, I'll try on one of those hats.

Food wise, they have an astonishing selection of Gluten Free Option, so for once I was able to enjoy appetizers galore. The calamari was tasty as heck. The chicken strips could've used a bit of seasoning, but came with excellent sauces. And well, I have never had a bad tater tot in my life. I'd like to go back and try more here, that's for sure.

The wine list isn't huge, but what they offer is curated and impressive. We ordered the Wedge Salad and Truffled Arancini. Both arrived about 15 minutes later. The salad was underdressed, and the Arancini, while hot, lacked the tomato sauce that would have elevated the dish. Minor issues, but we moved on. Unfortunately, the main course experience was disappointing. After waiting 45 minutes, our entrees finally arrived--at room temperature. At that point, we were too hungry to send them back and wait another 20 minutes. When we shared our concerns, the staff initially offered complimentary desserts, which felt inadequate given the circumstances. After further discussion, they comped both entrees and provided a $25 gift certificate, which was a fair gesture and appreciated. The GM and Bobby personally apologized and invited us to ask about "little surprises" in the wine cellar next time, which was a nice touch. Overall, great wine and recovery effort, but the kitchen timing and food temperature need serious improvement. Hoping for a better experience next time because the potential is there.
