First of all I was impressed that Henry, the owner answered every phone call and queries from Yelp. Too often a good business is poorly represented by the first point of contact and who cares more than the owner. My situation is that my computer works fine but I wanted to get it ready for MS Flight Sim 2000 as the hardware requirements have just been published. They offered a free diagnostic and would charge for any upgrades that are required. I brought it in and Henry the owner called me the next day and said the computer is fine just as it is. He did have suggestions for a high refresh rate screen and to be sure to download the game into the SSD rather than the hard drive and to use the DisplayPort of the video card to connect the screen as that is faster than the HDMI port. It turns out he is an ex military pilot as well as an airline pilot and is an avid Flight Sim gamer when he is not actually flying his own plane. How cool is that? So the man knew exactly what my needs are. He suggested some upgrades for the future such as converting the system to an all SSD device. I felt bad that I made them do all that work for nothing and offered to take him out to lunch but he declined. He explained that he views our interaction as building a relationship for the future and a way to grow his business. I would for sure refer everyone I know his way. Could not be happier. In life, one needs a good wife/husband, a good lawyer, a good accountant, a good doctor, a good financial consultant, a good mechanic and a good computer/IT guy. Now I know a good computer/IT guy. My laptop had water damage and the keyboard was not functional. The team here repaired this issue AND earlier than expected which was a very nice surprise. My only complaint is that the manager working behind the counter never seemed to be wearing a face mask while face masks are mandatory. I came here a few years ago and always meant to write a review due to the exceptionally honest owner. I messaged several companies on Yelp and his response was the only one that felt attentive. Diagnostics were free, and he guaranteed I wouldn't have to pay unless it was fixed. He kept me updated with the status of my machine and gave estimates for what it would cost me if the repairs succeeded. If I remember correctly the estimates were reasonably priced. I usually come in at least once or twice a year to have my boss' screen replaced on his phone. I, on the other hand, am overly cautious about my devices, and don't even like handing my phone to anyone. Hello, confidential info! So, when my PC needed a Windows update, I just did it myself. Seems pretty standard, right? Yeah, except this is where is went straight to hell in a blue screened hand basket! I've come here twice so far for vastly different issues and both times I have walked away in a better situation than I could have hoped for! The first time I came was because my microATX desktop had sufferd some shock damage when I had bumped into my desk while moving some furniture. Turns out I had unseated my CPU somehow. I took it in and within a few hours Henry had called me back and gave me a run down on what they had found that that my computer would be ready to pick up later that day. The pricing was more than fair for their labor and it was infinitely less hassle than when I had to take the same computer to the manufacture earlier in the year. That was a great experience, but the second time I came in was really what turned me into a life long customer. My wife and I each had Lenovo Y series Touch Laptops (Y50 and Y70), and her display had started to flicker and show a lot of static at an ever increasing rate. We were under warranty so I contacted Lenovo directly to send it in for repairs. After several days of calling in mulitple times I was finally able to convince them it wasn't a software issue that updated drivers were going to magically fix. We sent it in and got it back almost a month later with a letter stating what they had done to fix it. The letter was blank. At this point we were just outside of our warranty, so I called up Henry and brought the laptop in. They took a look at it, immediately identified the issue and gave me a quote for how much it would be to fix it. Beyond that, he even got in touch with Lenovo and was able to negotiate the replacement of the parts at the rate they would have been had we still be under warranty. He even offered to apply a mitigating solution to my laptop as well so I didn't run into the same issue down the road. I've never had anyone go the extra mile for me like that when dealing with computer repair. I just have to leave another review for such INCREDIBLE work and service! We brought over some electrodes we use in our wellness clinic to be serviced again. Due to the nature of their use, they are consistently bending at a sharp angle and it causes the wire to become exposed in the cord. When my home office ink jet color printer stopped working after I changed my ink cartridge, I was completely helpless. There was no way I could function without a printer for even one day! I was about to order another printer, but then I remembered about this Device Repair shop in the same complex as our Irvine store. They have helped us in the past with computer problems at our shop, so I decided to bring my printer to them for repair, hoping it would be cheaper than buying a new printer. Henry received my printer and told me he would call me with a quote as soon as they figure out what was wrong with it. He said it would be fixed within the same day if we did not need to order any parts. True enough, he called me and quoted me only $45 to fix the printer right away. The ink "sump" needed emptying every 6 months or so, he explained, and all they did was empty the sump. It worked perfectly afterwards. It was the best $45 I ever spent! I also bought some iphone accessories for dirt cheap, like a car charger, an extra charger, and a phone case, all for $25. Henry is honest, reliable, and reasonably priced. Whoever wrote that other review is either pissed or a competitor. I didn't know Henry or this business from anyone else - but a friend referred me to a friend who referred me to Device Repair. I had a dead laptop that had a ton of stuff I would like to save, but a non existent budget and a thought that something catastrophic was wrong with my computer. The first good sign was that the diagnostic check up cost me NOTHING. Not $45 or $75 or $100 to be put to use for repairs as I had been quoted by others...NOTHING. It was already not working - so where was my risk? If they're running a scam - how would this benefit them? I would still spend nothing and they would have wasted their time and effort. In my case, they fixed my laptop with two solutions - replace the motherboard or repair it for much less. Guess which option I chose? In addition, they worked with my budget and I am typing this review on the computer I never expected to use again. That's great customer service and work if you ask me! They broke my laptop. The AC jack on the laptop needed to be replaced, the manager/owner himself assured me that they are more than qualified and do contract work for major communication companies(like Sprint, AT&T), so I thought my $1000 laptop could not be in better hands. When I picked up my computer I noticed the jack was working again so I packed it up, paid them and went home. When I got home I tried to actually use my laptop and it wasn't reading the ram, it was lagging and breaking down until finally it didn't turn on anymore. The whole time I was contacting the manager and letting him know whats going on and he kept saying it was a hard drive failure, or bad ram, he refused to have his team look at it again or run a diagnostic. He just told me to send it to my warranty to see which parts are bad and have them replaced, so I did. Eventually Acer got back to me and told me that my laptop had water damage and was irreparable. Whaaat?! I have never taken any liquids near my laptop and it was only 1 year old. I called the manager and told him, and he said too bad because when I picked up my laptop I had signed a waiver saying that my laptop was in good working condition. He was very defensive and pretty much made this big point that I had no legal recourse, even though I never mentioned anything about lawsuits. I asked him to at least refund me the cost of the repair($150) so I could put it towards a new laptop. His associates were very rude and hung up on me many times, as did he. I had to buy a new laptop and after Acer heard my story, they gave me $200 off to help me out . They were not even responsible and my laptop was 1 month out of warranty so how is that for contrast between an honest vs dishonest business? read more

Higher price than most for repairing an iPhone 6+ screen (most charge $120 and some charge $110 for glass only screen repair but they only offer glass and LCD component together which is $149, in line with others' prices). They did reply to my quote request after a couple days though. Skipped them as a result of the price. * editing my review to reflect that they charge the same price as most for the glass and LCD together, but they do not offer the glass only repair which is cheaper. They sent me a few messages asking for me to remove the review and to explain that they use the most expensive component so there are no dead spots on the touchscreen. However, their competitors off the glass only at a lower cost and with a warranty. read more

I am so grateful for Henry and Cam at Device Repair. I am an experienced computer builder but was having a RIDICULOUSLY tough time with a new server build. Turned out that ASUS didn't send the motherboard with an updated BIOS NOR did the motherboard support the CPU that the spec sheet said it did. It was really a ridiculous MESS. I was shocked. The guys at Device Repair spent 12 hours over the phone with ASUS, fighting for my computer to be built perfectly. Keep in mind my investment in the parts was around $5k, so the guys at Device Repair can be absolutely trusted. Very disappointing moments of truth for Newegg as well because they charged me X amount for 2x CPUs -- but ended up sending the WRONG MODELS. Turned on my computer and there was weird glitches and artifacts on the screen, before dying. I thought it was the video card so I stripped it out and took it here to be tested. 5 minutes later they confirm it was dead. They didn't charge me for the diagnosis and even gave me suggestions for replacement cards. Fully licensed technicians and great customer service. If I need a full rebuild I'll come here first. Updated- The video card didn't fit my case, so I had to buy a new case. I also bought a SSD to upgrade. I didn't have time to do a system transplant, so I had Device Repair do the work. The owner was super cool and gave me the best quote. I sent out a few inquiries about switching my gaming pc hard drive to an SSD and they had the best price. I know how much an SSD costs so it was insane the prices the other guys were charging for installation. They were further from home but it was worth the drive (I live in Rancho Santa Margarita). They got it done quickly and the owner does wear a mask, for those of you who want to know this. They updated the operating system and did a clean up of all the dust inside the case. SUMMARY: Excellent, fast, helpful customer service and superior repair skills. Henry and his team are amazing and I would recommend them to anyone in a heartbeat! DETAILED SEQUENCE OF EVENTS: TUESDAY - Wake up, grab my personal laptop to bring with me to work, the bottom is very hot, even though it has not be running. When I get into work, the thing won't boot past the "Starting Windows" screen... I troubleshoot and search Google for any quick fixes to no avail. Yelp "Device Repair", it's close to my work, has good reviews, so I take it in there. I drop off my laptop for a free diagnostic check (yes free!). (Note: I am relatively good with computers and have never taken a computer to a repair shop due to a big ego and fear of high costs.) WEDNESDAY - I get a call from Device Repair saying that my hard drive failed, but all of my other systems/components are in great shape (they ran a special tool to check each one). They told me they could try to recover what data was salvageable, and in the meantime, could also install a new one (I elected to install a new solid state drive, which ended up being super fast!). At this point, they laid out the costs and asked me if I'd like to move forward. The diagnosis up to this point was free, I could have taken my computer back if I wanted. Repair Computer / Recover Hard drive data / Install New Hard drive = $99 (including a seasonal discount). Purchase Solid State Hard Drive = $150. So basically, my decision was between A) complete repair (and upgrade) of my computer for $250-300 vs. B) buying a brand new laptop which would have been $1500-2500. You can guess which route I chose... THURSDAY - I get a call saying that they recovered all of my data off my failed hard drive and the computer will be ready to pick up Friday morning. FRIDAY - New computer is back in action and incredibly fast! Obviously, I had a very fortunate outcome in that Device Repair was able to recover the contents of my hard drive. But even if they weren't able to do that, they would have been able to restore my computer with a brand new solid state hard drive, which has basically made me feel like I bought a brand new computer. I've been extremely pleased with my computer's performance after taking it to Device Repair, and highly recommend it to people looking for device repair or even upgrades (get a solid state drive if you can!!). read more

So, basically, yesterday I spilled water on my laptop and was freaking out because I'm in college and finals are next week so my laptop and files in it are basically my life. I found Device Repair on Yelp and saw it had great reviews so I went to check them out less than an hour after I spilled the water because I didn't want the water to damage my computer even more.
