He briefly touched the faucet handle and tapped the wall, then asked to inspect the plumbing from the basement. After glancing at the water lines leading to the bathroom, he informed me he'd step out to his vehicle to "write up a quote." About 20 minutes later, he returned with a legal pad and handed me a quote: approximately $1,700. The estimate included installation of shutoff valves in the basement -- completely unrelated to the original problem. Naturally, I declined and asked if he was going to address the leaking faucet, since that was the purpose of my call and I needed to resume my day. His response? "That's my quote. That's what I see needs to be done." At that point, I politely asked him to leave. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. I was furious -- not only did he refuse to address the issue I called about, but he did so with an arrogant tone. I will never use Standard Heating, Cooling & Plumbing again, and I'll make sure others are equally informed. And yes, I still had to pay the $80.00 visit fee, despite the fact that he tried to inflate a minor repair into a major project I didn't ask for or need.
