Despite their claim that they are following COVID protocols, they do not follow the current guidelines. Much of the staff and patients do not mask; the waiting areas are crowded (always long waits at this office). When I asked about it, they said they just don't. "We don't mask here." So if that's what you're looking for - you'll be happy! If you have a vulnerable member in your household - stay away. Been a patient for years, finding a new doctor. read more

The Skyline location is amazing. Not only are we fans of Dr Fitzgerald, but Julie in the optical department is truly amazing. I've never encountered a better technician, in all of the 30+ years of wearing glasses. I came in this afternoon after having accidentally stepped in my glasses. Theses Lucky Brand frames hadn't broken but the metal hinges had been bent. I was fairly certain I would either need a whole new pair or at least new parts and potentially weeks without my glasses, which I wear 99% of my awake hours. Well Julie said, let me see what I can do. Less than 30 minutes later I was walking out with what felt like brand new glasses. I nearly cried with joy. Then when I asked her how much I owed... get this, she said, nothing. GOD BLESS JULIE and her willingness to do what's best for the customer. read more

It's now been almost 2 years since this procedure was done. My eye has become allergic to make-up, so I can't even wear make-up anymore. It still gets really dry at night and I have to apply drops in my eye every three hours at night. It has destroyed my sleep. The skin around my eye gets swollen. My eye looks smaller than the other eye. It's incredible that doctors are so negligent and get away with such horrible service. I'm sure that the only reason why he insisted on doing the surgery to remove the stye was to bill the insurance for the procedure. For him to receive another few hundred dollars, now I have to live with this eye problem for the rest of my life. Other doctors have told me that it would have been best to not do any incision and wait for the stye to go away on its own. It was already getting better, and I told the doctor. However, he insisted on doing the surgery. Moral of the story: DO NOT TRUST doctors. They are after one thing only: Money. read more

One of the friendliest and caring doctors I've ever seen in my life. Staff was super helpful and nice. The only thing I don't like about DR Helm is that it took my whole life to discover his office. I'll never go anywhere else again. read more

The doctors are great, but the staff is horrible. They are rude, condescending, and act as though they are doing you a favor by even talking to you. I have had appointments canceled on us without notifying us, disrespectful and rude technicians, and very unhelpful optical staff (with the exception of Chad). read more

I have a really bad prescription. Practically coke bottle lenses... So I came here for the first time hoping to get some contact lenses and update my glasses with my insurance. The office is in a beautiful building close to a Starbucks (woo!) The staff is professional, courteous, and nice. Helm is very smart, funny, and extremely well-rounded ophthalmologist. He genuinely cares about my vision and I know I'm not the only one. This office is riddled with all of their doctor's diplomas and achievements on their walls...so they know what they're doing. The opticians were funny and knowledgeable and recommended non-coke bottle lenses thanks for hookin' me up ladies! ...Overall I loved my experience here and the glasses I got. Although I did have to wait, I did expect that...because not even a Lenscrafters would have the lenses I wanted. With my insurance the glasses were reasonable and about the same price I would pay for gucci frames...of course. They have a great selection of glasses and I will need to come back for the matching gucci sunglasses this summer. I hate lasers and am scared...I may consider coming here for lasik when the time is right. But when it is the right time...I won't look anywhere else. read more

Great experience at Helm in Valencia and Plum. Have been coming for years. Highly recommend.

Let me just start off by saying I've worked many years in customer service and dealing with the general public. I was recommended to Helm because I was having issues related to my eyelids. I was scheduled to see Dr. Helm for a test to see if I was a candidate for eyelid surgery. The week before I get a message from Maggie (surgery coordinator) that Dr. Gross will be doing my consult for recommendation rather than Helm. I see Dr Gross he adamantly declares "you are an ideal candidate for surgery" he does a few tests and tells me the front desk will schedule my surgery. Ok-I go to front get my surgery scheduled and ask is there any pre-op or special instructions? I am told no just show up . Turns out I need to change my surgery day. I call and get transferred to Maggie and I ask for a change in dates for surgery to the following week. I am told they cannot do the surgery until I get some other tests. I respond ,"I confused, I had the testing and got a recommendation from Dr Gross." She repeats the same thing she said with a little attitude-I ask "well how many times do I have to come in and why would my surgery be schedule if I needed more testing. She then immediately goes in defensive mode and tells me "you can pay privately!" Why would I want to do that, I'm just trying to understand so I can inform my employer of time off. As I kept asking why didn't anyone tell me this, when I asked. Why would the doctor say he recommended surgery and that I'm an ideal candidate. A little agitated she repeated I can pay privately. She then tells me she has an appointment the next day. I go in to get peripheral testing -I am told to open my eyes as much as I can. The techs were friendly-no issue there...they send me to the front desk to talk to Maggie...she doesn't greet me in any way..just takes my paper and tells me insurance will not cover my surgery...what do you mean? She continues with her curt attitude and after asking several questions mostly about what I could do now since it was causing headaches ...she shrugs and again says you can pay privately. I said but it's causing a medical issue for me what can I do to appeal this? she literally says " you can't the insurance goes by this test only...you can pay privately." This goes on for a few more minutes and I ask , is it you that aren't recommending surgery? She responds yes...I ask so that's it ? There's nothing I can do to help with headaches? She responds you can pay privately. 1) This person should go to customer service training 2) research your stuff..there is always a way to appeal or pursue things if the patient is medically impacted... 3) fake it till you make it! At least pretend you care... Everyone else was friendly-when you work in the front and it literally takes an extra few seconds to greet customers or even apologize if you forgot to schedule a test just OWN IT! People make mistakes, but don't cop an attitude and get into defense mode... 4) if you can't be kind and customer oriented find another position.! read more

Refusing to care for someone unless you get money upfront? What is this a 3rd world institution? We have insurance. I simply want the insurance to review the charge and send an explanation of benefits before paying hundreds of dollars and, if overcharged, having to fight to get our money back. Way to put the patient first. Glasses department: does not stand behind their frames and blames you for using them wrong..? What does that even mean? They were not dropped or squished, the arm fell off and you can't repair and won't replace. Thanks again. read more

I wouldn't go back there again. Specially technicians who work in the glasses fitting were kind of rude. Except one lady who is extremely nice. I rather go to other place than this one. read more

I have been going to Helm for several years and its always easy to get ahold of someone and make an appointment. There is plenty of parking right outside both locations. The moment you walk in the front desk is right there and signing in is easy and you typically don't have to wait long. There is plenty of seating in the waiting areas with comfy large chairs with several TVs playing. Typically the TVs play nature documentaries which I do enjoy. The employees are helpful and informative. There is a wide selection of frames you can pick from. read more

Doctors seem fine. The staff doesn't know whats going on. I had to hold their hand to get contacts ordered and then it took 6months to actually get them. Not my favorite. Unnecessarily frustrating I think. read more

Once again the team at Helm Vision has out preformed themselves. I wanted frames from a major manufacturer that had just come out and found they were a bit difficult to get a hold of. Taylor & team pulled it off, getting the frames and lens in record time along with some parts for my existing glasses which made them look and feel brand new. Their professional and kind assistance makes you feel at ease and that you are completely satisfied with the product, price and their services. GREAT JOB!!! read more

I have been a client/patient of Dr. Helm for about 5 years. I am reminded each and every time just how spectacular this doctor and his entire staff is. I call Dr. Helm The Wizard because he has been able to correct a vision problem that came from too many eye correction surgeries and that other eye professionals were unable to figure out. He is professional, personable, funny and a perfectionist. Chad, Andrea and Maxi in optics are the best. They enjoy their work and will help you "find that perfect look" in glasses. Maggie at the desk is always ready with a smile and the bill unfortunately . This place is the best vision group in the Santa Clarita Valley and the LA area. read more

Amazing & friendly staff/technicians. Top notch doctors, both MD & OD. Clean, state of the art facilities and equipment. The optical department is a definite highlight, with extremely knowledgeable, personalable, highly educated opticians. I've never seen as well out of a pair of lenses as the pair made here. From start to finish, whether you need surgery, glasses or contact lenses, or just a routine check up, you won't find better service or products than you will at Helm! read more

During this HUGE COVID-19 crisis, I want to thank Helm Vision Group especially Dr. Helm for being open and being able to see me. I had an urgent matter that if I didn't treat immediately I could have lost my eye sight. The staff from front to back was very professional. A special thank you to Justin who worked me up, was very thorough, professional, and caring. After seeing Dr Helm he diagnosed me quickly and coordinated me with urgent treatment. Thanks to him and his team I still have eye sight. Thank you Dr. Helm! - Love Nat read more

All about money. Disappointing. Not able to solve vision problem, made us go more than 7 times, just to end up prescribing new glasses... Bad customer service at the check out desk, too. Stay away! read more

Thought they were good, but at my first appointment, had to deal with the nurse not reading my chart correctly and making a huge mistake. she dilated my eye before a procedure, which caused me to not be able to have the procedure done that day, and I had to deal with one dilated eye for 6 hours... I was then billed for items that didn't make sense and the doctor billed for the same items through his surgery center and also through his office, making my out of pocket fees more. Paid those fees and moved on.....now got a bill for something I wasn't even seen for. I needed to just exchange my glasses and was told that I wouldn't be charged and now they're telling me that the doctor that day discussed some type of diagnosis with me so I have to pay my co-pay again....don't go here!!!! They rip you off!!!! I will never go back with my family. They just lost 5 customers. read more

My visit to the Helm Vision Group was beyond what I expected. I have owned ONE PAIR of eyeglasses for SIX YEARS! So, I believe it is safe to say that I am no expert in choosing a pair of glasses, let alone, the perfect pair! As I arrived, I was met by Bri whom elected to assist me in choosing a pair of glasses that would look great on me. Luckily the shop was slow at the time of my visit, so I was able to have the pleasure of four techs to help me! Huge thanks to Ashley, Lema, and Maxi for taking some of the load off of Bri's shoulders! The ladies had me try on about 50+ frames if not more until we were ALL in agreement on a pair. The ladies were pleasant and very funny throughout my visit which was just what I needed. I live in Los Angeles which is a bit of a trek to Valencia, but the service that I received from the ladies mentioned above made the trip worth the drive. Helm Vision Group has gained a new customer! Thank you ladies! I think I'll be needing a new pair of sunglasses soon! -KM read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. I originally went to Dr. Eng & Dr. Gross a few months back for an emergency. I got multiple chalazions in a row & they had to chop them out. They did a good job with that! Getting in to see them is always very easy, but the receptionist didn't schedule me for all the exams I told her I needed, so I had to go back more than once. Unfortunately, the wait time is always ridiculous. Literally there over 2 hours. I probably will not be going back for that reason. read more
