Fan-friggin-taaaaasstic dinner last night!!! We arrived a bit after 6 (maybe 6:30?...not sure...) and we were the only guests there....for the entire meal. People....you're missing out! I mean, it was rather nice to have the whole patio to ourselves and enjoy wonderful conversations with Todd....plus it was a Tuesday night during the sleepy start of women's week....'cause the food here is fabulous and for this quality there should always be a line to get in. Anyway, we started with a couple of delicious cocktails...one was a version of a mule and one had spicy tequila. They brought out olive tapenade with crunchy pita chips to start us off. We ordered the appetizer of crab and avocado-served cold in a slightly creamy herb-laden sauce. Wonderful flavors! My main meal was the Jamaican seafood (green) curry. I love a good curry and was told that this was less spicy and more sweet-which is different than what I usually go for in a curry. (I like food that makes my face hurt). But this was definitely one of the best curries I've had..and the seafood was all cooked perfectly. The side of rice was available to sop up all of the remaining sauce. I loved this dish. The other main course was from the menu...I tasted it and I loved that, too. Sorry-I can't recall the name of the dish but it seems that's there are no bad choices here. Dessert was a shared piece of Mexican cheesecake. After my first bite I said, "that doesn't suck at all". Delicious, creamy and slightly crunchy from the thin layer of pastry on top. Coffee was great-we decided to throw brandy in one and amaretto in the other. Whipped cream? Of course. So glad we tried Helltown Kitchen. We were told that the menu is limited but that everything is good. There were several specials to expand on the regular choices, so I found the balance to be right on target. Eat here. Helltown Kitchen was a perfect place to end an exciting day. The setting is very pretty with outdoor seating along a wide brick alley. Lots of comfortable benches and chairs. There were full length French doors connecting inside to out. We started with an asparagus appetizer which was delicious. The asparagus was served cold on a balsamic glaze with feta, roasted cherry tomatoes, pepitas and 1/2 of a fresh fig. The photos I've included don't do the main course justice - in fact we chose our dishes after seeing what the women at the next table were eating - it looked and smelled so good. Three of us had the vindaloo, either shrimp or pork. The fourth had Pescado Ecocado - cod poached in a coconut milk sauce seasoned with citrus and other spices. The vindaloo was mildly spicy and very creamy. The pescado had a variety of flavors and textures that made a warming dish. We had both white and regular sangrias. Both were great and held their flavor as the ice melted. The staff were all unusually friendly. In P-town restaurant staff can be off putting. Though we walked in without a reservation on a busy night we were surprised to be welcomed early and seated right away. The waiters were friendly and helpful. Our only criticism is that the menu is limited. It worked well for one of our group who is pescatarian and another who eats gluten free. But we would have liked more choices. We eat on the outer Cape regularly and were really happy to find a restaurant where we'd look forward to returning. read more

Lovely time here. They're open late. Nice wine selection, attentive service, and a small yet punchy menu. We had the shrimp appetizer, which was delicious- make sure you mop up the spicy oil with your bread. Nice! Had a fantastic time with my wife and her friends. I got the flank steak and she got the lobster risotto. Both were very good, but there's only so much that can be done with flank steak. Alexander our server was very nice and helpful with menu options and gave us the right amount of attention. Loved eating outside as the weather was perfect, and the patrons seemed to be made up of locals which is always a good sign. The pricing is a bit much, which is why i gave it 4 stars. Overpriced and a small portion with chewy lobster... We had the lobster risotto and the seafood stew, both were disappointing. The rice in the risotto was not cooked property, it was still crunchy, and the lobster was exceptionally sad both in taste and appearance. The Caribbean seafood stew was seasoned nicely, however I could only rate it as average. The wait staff were attentive, and the atmosphere was pleasant. The best dinner my wife and I had while visiting ptown. We started with the crab avocado and the beet salad, both were amazing! My wife had the lobster risotto (lobster portion was very generous), best risotto we ever had. I had the Pescado Encocado and OMG the best meal EVER, so much flavor. We live on Long Island and wish we could snap our fingers and be back eating this delish meal again! The service was great, I wish I remembered our server's name as he was so sweet and attentive. The new location is so sweet, tucked back off commercial street, with lots of plants on the patio. We went for a birthday dinner and all of us were thrilled with our dishes. I had (free range) chicken posole soup which was subtly spicy. Other had steak, snapper and pork vindaloo. Our appetizers were great too, including a whole avocado stuffed with crab. The cocktails and mocktails were unusual and yummy. The service was great and they brought the birthday girl a guava panacotta which was topped with blackberry compote, a delicious combination. Overall the food quality is way above most of Provincetown where it is hard to find a place that's not overly foufou as well as overpriced. As well as Sal's on the beach, this will definitely be my go-to for bringing out of town guests, and special occasions. A wonderful spot for quiet and delicious! read more

Visited 09/04/2019 So many terrific restaurants here in P-Town and today after reviewing all the reviews, we decided on trying Helltown. We started with a terrific beet and arugula salad with goat cheese... one of our favorite salads wherever we go. My wife, who's been having lobster almost every night while we're here in Cape Cod ordered the risotto... with lobster! What a surprise! I have been enjoying a lot of seafood up here but decided to try Helltown's roasted duck served with roasted potatoes. The half duck was very nice and meaty... and very tender and tasty. As much as it kills me, I scrap off the skin (most of it anyway) because, well you know. Great service and reasonable prices will probably bring us back next time we're in town. read more

Got the Burrata to start and it was pretty good. I liked it with the strawberries, a unique blend but it worked well. I got the half roasted chicken for an entree and there was not a lot of flavor. I was kind of disappointed because I was expecting a decent amount of flavor from the Cuban spices but the chicken was bland. It was well cooked just not flavorful. There were no gluten free desserts. Waitstaff was pretty well informed on what was and was not gluten free which was nice but options are more limited read more

The host insisted our reservation was for a different time (see attached confirmation showing that we did, in fact, have an 8:30 table), we were sat inside after making a reservation for an outdoor table (it was our singular indoor, maskless experience in town and a member of our party tested positive for COVID four days later), items on the menu were substituted without warning, and the food was extremely slow to come. I don't know how they have so many good reviews! We order the crab salad avocados and it didn't resemble the pictures on the website at all. It looked like a can of dark cheap tuna salad. The Caribbean seafood stew had very little flavor and even a smaller amount of seafood. The chicken dish was a large dry chicken breast and leg with little flavor. We had a reservation at 9:00p.m. Didn't get seated until 9:30p.m. Bread was cold and nothing spectacular. Drinks were mediocre. the food was good but not exceptional. The best meals we've had in Ptown have been here. Even a simple roasted chicken is moist and heavenly. And the seafood curries and the baked cod in coconut milk, so good you'll be thinking about them till you come back.
