AHI TACOS
Chris G.

Had a quick lunch at the bar and the service was great! The restaurant is pretty cool and set up like other places downtown. I got the ahi tuna tacos and they were on point. The sweet potato fries were good too. Overall a great experience so I will definitely be back on my next visit to the area.

A good selection of food and very accommodating for groups. The cocktails were somewhat limited but good overall.

COBB SALAD

Stopped in this place with my boss for lunch before heading to the airport. Cute spot, bet it's booming at happy hour. Our waiter was very nice. We decided on the cobb salads. They were huge! Plenty of veggies, chicken, and many different tomatoes. Plenty of bacon too. My boss had shrimp added to his salad as well. Iced tea topped it off. Best salad we both have had in a long time. Parking is metered. I would definitely come back and try their drinks. All in all we both left happy and full.

Seat yourself vibe . We had three adults and one child with us. Server came right over with menus and asked to take our drink orders. She was incredibly pleasant and answered any questions we had. She was always checking in on us and refilled my water three times for me. We ended up deciding on just ordering a bunch of apps. It was a great idea and more than enough to feed us all. Food was really good and we will absolutely be back .All in all a great experience no hassle or pressure at all.

We didn't plan on going in this restaurant but I'm sure glad we did! The fried cheesecake was so good! We didn't try anything else on the menu. The bar area served us quick!

Homemade mac n cheese bowl w Buffalo chicken

Cool little local "watering hole" if you will. No, this place is not related to Gordon Ramsey. But, its called Hell's Kitchen because the previous owner was from HK New Jersey. The food came out within 5min of me ordering it. For a mac n cheese bowl...id say it was decent and substantial. I do think my friend who was a former chef was right when I showed her a picture to which she said "to much chicken". If it were a main dish, I'd understand..but this was an appetizer. Not really to much to comment on the staff because I was sitting at the bar. Ill just say that most of the attention was on a major deciding football game. Price. For $16 n some change for that and a soda..I guess that's an average price. I may come back. Place had good vibes.

Decor

The decor was really cool. Especially decked out for Halloween. There is a bar area as well as booth and table seating. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. My guest said they have really great french fries. I tried the tator tots and they were excellent as well. Our server was great and accommodating. I don't give it a 5 star for the fact that parts of the restaurant seemed a bit dingy and need of attention. Overall a great place however. I'd definitely go back!

Grilled chicken sandwich

Came in today with a party of 8 for lunch. Service was great. She really did an amazing job. However, the food was not as good as last time I ordered the ahi tuna tacos and they were really soggy. The chips served with it were stale. I will say the salsa was really good. She gave me fries instead which I loved with their amazing ranch. My friend and I split the turkey club which was also not very good. Others had grilled chicken sandwiches and they liked them. I would stick with fries and a burger if you come here.

Vegan options on the menu!

Finally! After many years, we made it back to Copper Penny! On our return trip from Southport we…read morestopped in downtown to grab a bite before heading home. We started walking around and my wonderful wife suggested Copper Penny. Absolutely! There was a short wait for a table, but we didn't mind. The inside is almost like we remember it. We did notice the menu is a lot smaller. The last time we dined here was around ten years ago. Definitely plenty of options. We went with the onion ring appetizer, Cobb salad, and the BBQ Burger. The atmosphere of Copper Penny is the same. Definitely missed this place. After a short wait our food was brought out. Everything was delicious. This is just an update, but we still love Copper Penny and will continue to return.

Only like 9 tables so plan accordingly or you will have to wait awhile. Go during off peak hours to ensure a short wait time. Now the food...... 1. Cheese Steak Egg Rolls served w/chipotle ranch......Amazing!!!! Best we have ever had. 2. 109 Chestnut Chicken Sandwich had an amazing balance of ingredients that would make your mouth water. Very good and the fries as well. 3. Hot Roasted Pork Sandwich was very bland and had an excessive amount of spinach. Even the Au Jus couldn't rescue this sandwich. 4. The famous onion rings. Well they must of ran out of seasoning because these were more flour than flavor. Very doughy with no spices. Not worth the $9 * The alcohol mix drinks are pretty good. Definitely taste the flavor of each. Will give you a good kick.

We found through a search, and wandered into Flytrap Brewing this past weekend for the first time…read more Located at 319 Walnut Street. The space, equal parts cozy taproom and shaded beer garden, feels both vibrant and homey. If you're reading this and asking yourself what is the region's native icon, the Venus Flytrap - we have catching up to do. Read history below the review. The mood was easygoing. Two staff members, juggling orders with grace, kept the taps moving and the vibe relaxed. We had the Oatmeal Porter (dark, smooth, layered with chocolate, roasted malt, and caramel) And the Brook's Mulberry Lemonade (a blend of house-made lemonade and beer, fermented with mulberries hand-picked from Brook's garden). Both were super delicious. Flytrap Brewing sits tucked in a quiet Wilmington neighborhood, and it feels like it belongs there. The thoughtful drinks, easy crowd, and unpretentious energy, we will for sure be back! History: The Venus flytrap, scientifically known as Dionaea muscipula, is native to a limited area of the southeastern United States. With twinkly lights and cozy corners to sit in, it's also a great place for a date night. The server was friendly, hospitable, had great recommendations, and was happy to let me try a few beers before I decided what I liked. The free popcorn was a nice touch too. It's a bit off the beaten path, but not a long walk from the River Walk or Main Street at all. I did miss the bigger fly traps in the back, and the ones inside were smaller (and a different kind) than I was expecting. Still, this place has a really cool, chill, and fun vibe. Highly, highly recommend.
