STAY AWAY!!! We have filed a compliant with the Better Business Bureau, the Consumer Protection Agency, and are now without any heating or air conditioning while we wait for a contract to fix, at our expense, the damage Hellotech did to our furnace and air conditioning. Not only did they break our system, but charged us for services they never did, are refusing to communicate with us, and now we are looking at hundreds of dollars in repair costs, and counting. Our doorbell and thermostat were working but we wanted to upgrade them to Nest products. We purchased Nest doorbell and thermostat and looked for an installer. Hellotech says they specialize in Nest products and are an authorized installer. We requested installation from them of the Nest thermostat and doorbell we had purchased. We were told they needed credit card information to confirm appointment, but we would not be charged until installation was complete and that we would be contacted by text with our appointment time and technician name. We received a message that our technician was Danny and he would come at 3 on Sunday, October 7, and a request to send a picture of the working areas. We sent pictures and Danny confirmed appointment by text for Sunday, October 7 to replace doorbell and thermostat. Danny arrived and took old doorbell off and then told us doorbell could not be installed without purchase of a transformer, which he did not have, and put doorbell back on. He then moved to thermostat and took off old thermostat and partially installed new thermostat. He then stopped and told us that we had a blown furnace fuse and thermostat could not be installed without a new fuse, which he did not have. He said we had an old system with old wiring and the fuse was not needed for the old thermostat but is needed for the new one. He left with the old thermostat removed, the new one partially installed, the entire system now non functioning, and promised to return the next day with the needed transformer for the doorbell and a fuse for the furnace, the parts needed to finish job. He also recommended we purchase a Nest door lock, which he said he would install the next day at a reduced cost and told us what to buy. We bought door lock that night as advised. Technician never returned or called and we called Hellotech. Hellotech representative told us that a different technician would come. New technician called to ask us what was needed to be done and told us he could not fix it. We called Hellotech and were then advised that Danny wrote in notes that we needed to hire, at our cost, an HVAC company to fix our furnace and he, Danny, could not install thermostat until that happened. We explained that the furnace and air conditioning worked well before Danny came and that if they could not install the new thermostat we wanted them to put the old one back and reminded them that we were now left without ANY heating or air or even the central fan and this was an urgent need. Hellotech said they would call a third technician to reinstall old thermostat. Third technician, Michael Wood, showed up on Tuesday, October 9. We told him what had happened so far and what Danny did in installing the thermostat. He asked if Danny had shut off power to the thermostat before removing it to install the new one. We said he did not and was actually testing throughout with his electrical meter and power was on throughout. Michael Wood then told us that Danny should have turned off power and that every technician turns off power before uninstalling the old thermostat and installing the new one, and if they do not they blow fuses and transformers. Michael Wood also said that if the company finds out what Danny did Danny will most likely lose his job, so it would be not be in Danny's best interest to admit he did not turn off power. Michael Wood said he would write a report and file it with the company so we could hire someone to fix our now broken system, likely needing a fuse a transformer and possibly more, and we should be reimbursed for our costs. Instead, company charged card for all installation services, including the door lock, installed nothing, broke furnace and refuses to do anything further. We tried contacting support based on Michael's recommendation. Support said they would look in to the matter, but instead of doing anything they have now ceased communication, are no longer responding to us. read more

I'm sure their service greatly depends on the technician they send so take my review as just one experience/potential signs of issues to come. I like everyone looked into what security system to get for my house (doorbell and camera). I ultimately settled on Nest products. I purchased directly through Nest and on their site reached out to 2 professional installation companies endorsed by Nest. HelloTech had the highest reviews and cost lower between the 2, perhaps the first sign of trouble (trouble sign 1 - the old saying you get what you pay for). But they had more reviews and even though it was less expensive it wasn't cheap. It was within the range of what I think is reasonable for the work needed. Signs of trouble number 2...they could not find a technician in my area. After getting an email and text regarding my appointment....on the actual day of, i got text saying my appointment is being cancelled because they could not find a tech to service my area. Clearly they outsource or use contractors...these are not fulltime hired staff, at lease that was my impression. It's kinda like the Uber model for technical services. So, still wanting my Nest doorbell and cameras installed, I called Nest to ask what happened. They suggested we put in the request again. Customer Service, the folks on the phone, are great...always great and helpful. So we did that, submit a new request. Much to my suprise, the second time around I got a confirmed appointment...but unfortunately, things went downhill from there. The technician showed up as scheduled. He drove up in his personal car (trouble sign number 3). I was expecting a company car with a ladder. This is why i stated earlier I didn't believe these were HelloTech staffed resources. The gentlemen was really nice, a retired IT hardware guy. I showed him what i wanted installed (Nest doorbell and 4 Nest Cameras) and my thoughts about the location of the install. I of course asked his "expert" opinion as well. In any event, he started installing the doorbell. I had to register it so I started that process while he prepped. Here's the funny thing, Nest does a great job walking you through the steps of the install when you go to register the product. It was in this process, i realized the HelloTech, was inexperienced. Trouble sign number 4...he didn't have the right tools and suggested things outside the Nest instructions. Long story short, I had to pull out all my tools and tell him what Nest recommended in their instructions. He wanted to use gorilla glue to glue Nest base to the outside of the chime box. He didn't know to connect all the wires, he didn't know what the angle offset was for, the list goes on. And top of all this I had to pull my dremel tool to cut he doorbell notch so the wires would fix behind the doorbell. My wife laughed at me because she kept telling my to install it myself and I insisted on hiring a "professional"...and ultimately ended up doing the work myself...arrrrgh. And last of all, (trouble sign number 5). After the doorbell was done, he looked at me and I'm sorry but I don't think I can installed the cameras cause I don't have the tools (no drill, no ladder, nada...he brought a screwdriver and small pliers). He looked like a deer in headlights, clearly overwhelmed. So, I thanked him for his honesty. Happy at least the doorbell was done and we parted ways. I hope this helps others out there looking to install Nest Products. As I said I'm sure HelloTech has good installers in other areas. I strongly recommend reading about what's involved installing your system and then talking to the technician assigned to ensure they are capable before committing. PS. the other company Nest recommended which was a little more money. They came and did a phenomenal job, superfast. It goes to show you, if you get the right resource with the right tools, it's easy. Hope this helps. read more

I decided to try the service because I thought the price was very reasonable and I had so many other things to complete on my one day off prior to Christmas. So I made the appointment to have my ring doorbell installed and secured it with my credit card. The tech was on time and very friendly, but not equipped or knowledgable for this job. The installation is not always as easy as the video makes it out to be... (unscrew the old, screw in the new doorbell and your done!) These are the issues that I had: 1. She did not have the proper equipment: no drill (just in case one is needed) and it was needed in this case. Therefore, she needed to borrow my drill. Unfortunately, 2 of my drill bits were broken in the process. What makes this such an issue, was that the tech did not notify me of the damage. Rather, I found a piece of the broken drill bit on the ground. Only then did she inform me that she had broken the drill bit. So, if I had not noticed or found the broken bit, I very much doubt that I would have been made aware of the damage. 2. No leveling device was used on the ring doorbell, so it was installed at a slight angle (not straight/perpendicular). 3. The doorbell is not secured to the wall by the bottom screw. Meaning, the bottom screw can easily be pulled out of the wall due to the hole being too large, which will allow the Ring doorbell to be stolen without much effort. (That will be a $230 loss!!!) 4. The only screw that secures the face plate to the doorbell (provides security for accessing the reset button) was NOT installed and lost during the installation. I had to improvise by using a different screw to secure the face plate and it does not fit properly. 5. The doorbell does not fit flat/flush against the wall (there is a gap between the wall and the ring doorbell). The tech stated that I would need to hire a carpenter to fix that issue. That is the whole reason for hiring your service.... to have it professionally installed! 6. The only tool that she did bring (that I saw) was a hammer. I was really concerned and surprised when she actually used the hammer during this installation. This install requires a drill with the correct bit, screwdrivers and a carpenter's knife to trim any conduit (wires). A clear sign that something was wrong came when my A/V tech (working on my 3rd floor) came downstairs because he heard the pounding on the wall from the hammer and wanted to know what was going on! That tells me that the wrong tool is being used for the job. 7. The overall look does not fit the definition of professional at all. I hired your company to install my ring doorbell properly and professionally, without damage to my personal property. That was not the case in my situation. I would have been much better off doing the job myself. read more

David Horlick At HelloTech Is AMAZING! I have had many computer problems over the years, for I run a large, international nonprofit. But this time was the second time my Outlook crashed, consistently stating "not responding," and freezing my computer. The first time I took my computer to Geek Squad. Three times I had to take it back. But today David Horlick, sent from HelloTech, came to my home office. He was absolutely the best! Not sure you can compliment HelloTech about all that David knew how to do, but I guess you could because they had the smarts to hire him. David was excellent! He is super smart, personable, thoughtful, patient, does not cut corners, and spent six hours with no food or break (although I made him finally eat something) working to make sure this problem was resolved. Plus, he made some great suggestions on how to better organize all of our computers together. If I were HelloTech, I'd pay him a LOT to keep him happy. Keep one thing in mind: When you hire HelloTech, they tell you they will fix your problem onsite for $129.99, and that is true. However, if you only pay that $129.99, your tech gets a small portion of that. Imagine my tech, David, working for six hours on a Sunday for that small portion of $129.99 he would have received. So I paid him an additional amount of money; however, I know there are people who don't do that, meaning your tech is making nothing. Most people now a days will not take the time to write something positive when they have had an exceptional service, they will only take the time to write when they havent or to file a complaint. I ordered a tv for my father for fathers day and paid to have it installed by your company bc I do not live close to do it myself. My father is recently recovering from cancer surgery and isnt able to lift anymore . It was important to me to have a reliable person come to his home and install it properly. I want to take the time to acknowledge the tech Muraad that was assigned to install my fathers tv. Muraad kept me informed of the appointment and his arrival time bc I couldnt be there in person. He arrived at the time he stated and got to work right away. Muraad was friendly and knowledgeable . He took the time to answer any questions my father had and even went above and beyond to help him download the tv app on his phone. He made sure the Fire stick and sound bar were working correctly before he left. When he completed the install he even sent me a photo to show me how great it looked on the wall. Im more than satisfied with the exceptional service we received from Muraad and from your company. I will definitely recommend your company for tech services to anyone who needs it!! I booked a TV remounting services specifically informing the HelloTech representative that it was for a previously mounted TV by them and needs to be taken off from one wall in the living room to another wall in the same room. He booked a service for me and informed me that he would schedule a technician to arrive on Friday late afternoon. I received a correspondence from HelloTech scheduling Saturday noon appointment instead. On the day of appointment, after being asked to move all my living room furniture including baby playpen by Mark (technician), he said that he would need to add additional service charge for dismounting the TV. He was reluctant to work and asked me to contact the support. There was a total failure of communication between the technician's company and HelloTech. I spent nearly one hour because of the incompetency on HelloTech's part to resolve the conflict between Technician and them. Finally, ended up canceling the order and my HelloTech membership. HelloTech and Mark not only wasted my time but also caused a lot of inconvenience to us. I would not recommend HelloTech since they dispatch the services through other vendors and do not maintain clear communication putting the customers in a spot if the technicians are misinformed. read more

I have used HelloTech 3 times. The first two, the experience was great. The third time, a technician who was either lazy or did not know how to mount a television serviced me. Unknown to me, as I trusted him, he mounted my 65" television into the drywall of my apartment. Also, it took him two trips to finish this job, as he dropped some waders behind my wall and needed to come back the next day. It was a full range mount. I texted him expressing concern as he only used 3 bolts and it was sagging, he assured me it would be fine. A few weeks later, the tv just falls off the wall. It was clear then, due to the damage, he had only drilled into the dry wall. There were also 5 other holes randomly around my wall where he failed to hit studs. It was the sloppiest job I have ever seen. I bring this to HelloTech and they refuse to take any responsibility, in fact they blame me and claim i moved the mount around somehow. I sent them proof via pictures and text messages of the messy job their technician did, but their communication is slow an ineffective. If you want to do this right, you are running a high risk using HelloTech. If they make this right, I will adjust my review. read more

We bought a new printer, and wanted to set up wi-fi for my Mac and his PC. We called HelloTech and Kye came to our house, did everything, and we had our printer ready to go. Well worth the money, he knows all about Apple products and PCs. Then, the PC lost data, and we called Kye again. He taught us how to save our files, but warned our entire system, about 20 years old, would fail soon. Now, we have a new Dell, and Kye again will come and help. Well worth ten times the fee, Kye has helped us with every computer problem we had. He's also kind and patient, and despite our inadequacies in tech, he repeats the instructions, helps us over and over, and fixes everything. Kye is a treasure in tech support, so hard to find. He's also trustworthy, and we have no worries sharing all our data with him. He was the answer to every question, and we now rest assured knowing we have a knowledgeable and kind, reliable tech to come and help us no matter what we run into. We tried everywhere else before we found HelloTech and Kye, either too expensive or rude, or they did not have the knowledge, or wouldn't come to the house. They offered quick turn around time and we had used them once before (a year ago). This second time was an awful experience and the order was cancelled after the misinformation. Installer called to clarify order last week-when it was scheduled and confirmed, then the installer cancelled day of the scheduled appointment. I received 2 more calls from Hello Tech after the original appointment time, who tried to increase our order after the original caller stated flatly that by keeping it on the same wall was just one item not 2, and the supervisor could only give me a slight discount for the "Misinformation". The customer service reps who called, sent me multiple modification emails, which conflicted with what the next person "could see in their system". My appointment was at 11am on 12/13/21, cancelled at 8am and as of 5:35pm has YET to have an installer to be scheduled even though they gave it their highest level escalation. Taking time out of my work schedule to have NO ONE show up and the cost (after their "generous" discount) still be doubled what we had requested and confirmed at scheduling, we have decided to use another company with better customer service. read more

I've used Brian from HelloTech in Arizona to resolve issues 4 times for my legally blind 80 year old Mom. This man works very hard to help my Mom and is a miracle worker! Yesterday was my first experience using HelloTech for my Property Management Business in California and it was ALSO outstanding. Isaac was in a difficult situation because he was resolving an issue for my AirBnB tenant and I could not meet him on site. This required extra conversations with me to set up the streaming device and frankly, my guest was super irritated because of the lack of TV. He was exactly on time, understood my directions well, asked good questions, and left my guest in perfect condition. It's extraordinary that within 24 hours of having an issue that I could not fix myself due to other commitments, that someone has my back and resolved it as an expert ought (perfectly). Bobby did an amazing job and he was very friendly, professional, knowledgeable and helpful. He walked me through all of the remote controls and settings so I knew how to use each device and he also informed me of options I was unaware of that would make the space look better and cleaner, which I will be purchasing soon. This was all in addition to the installation which he didn't have to do but was kind enough to. His assistant was very nice and she opened the boxes for the sound bar system which definitely was not her job but she was kind to do so. They made sure each part was working with the sound bar before leaving and even got my Amazon packages and brought them to me that were on my door step as they were leaving. I had a pretty bad experience with the first technician but Bobby and his assistant were great! If I need HelloTech in the future I will request them for the job because I know it will get done right! read more
