Such a fun dessert concept!! I love purple yam, the flavor balanced so well with the vanilla ice cream and corn flakes. Although there's not much seating besides a counter top, it was a very fast order. The dessert was the perfect light creamy taste. Would come again!

I got their purple sweet potato paste ice cream at Japan Fes 2024! I loved this. It wasn't too sweet and the purple sweet potato pairs so well with the vanilla ice cream. There was also roasted sweet potato at the bottom of the cone, yum!!

I got the custard brûlée potato and it was so good. It was nice and warm and the custard topping was nice and gooey and sweet. It's a little shop with a few bar seatings at the window. It was a fun little treat to try, but it did seem expensive for what you get ($12 for a potato) When we went, there was only one person working so when it got busy, you had to wait a bit for your order. Thankfully we got there before there was a line so ours came out within a few minutes.

The entire time I ate this, I was asking and debating myself whether I liked it or not. I think it's totally worth it to try at least once if you're least not intrigued by the flavor but not sure if I'd get it again. Around $12 for a cone which was decently sized, decent amount of topping, and still had yummy flavored ice cream below it. A good spin on normal ice cream if you wanna shake things up!

I's been wanting to try the desserts here for at least a year! I stopped by after a really heavy dinner but managed to finish a Honey Butter Beni Haruka because it was good. I wish there was more honey and butter because I didn't taste as much of that flavor on certain parts of the yam. For the size, it was on the pricier end. The service was friendly and fast, especially since I was the only customer there on a weekday night. It was a peaceful dessert on a cold day.

Every time i'm in the area, I just HAVE to stop by Hello Yam! They're the perfect sweet treat for me that's life on the sugar and heavy on the nutrients. Yams are so good for you and the way Hello Yam makes it is to die for! I've had both of their desserts (the ice cream and creme brûlée yam) and I wish my stomach was big enough to finish both. Highly recommend this joint!

The East Village must have the highest density in the world of hyper niche esoteric restaurants. Want a shop for vegan macarons, katsu sandwiches on pain de mie, or gnocchi and literally nothing else? Come to East 9th Street, and now top off your meal with a yaki imo parfait at Hello Yam! I will say that there is something so magical about a caramelized Japanese yam and the natural sugar with nothing added that I'm not sure I prefer it in "paste parfait" (as so eloquently advertised) form. But this is certainly a dessert worth trying at least once, especially if you're in the area.

A little pricey, but in my opinion worth it Menu is small but the options are all good. Got the purple parfait and the creme brulee yam (not pictured) and both were good, but the parfait was definitely more memorable. Inside can also be a bit small so if it's a bit crowded I would plan for take out

Taste-wise, the Purply Silky Paste Parfait gets a 5 starts: a delicious, unique dessert that is a bit healthier than the usual ice cream. The combination of the smooth yam, refreshing ice cream , and crunchy cornflakes is interesting and delicious. The yam puree is creamy and you can really appreciate the natural flavor rather than be overpowered with added sugar. Price-wise, though... $16 dollars for a small cup of yam and ice cream? Hello?? Considering how much a sweet potato or a scoop of ice cream normally costs, the price seems very high. The shop is also tiny with very limited seating in the store. I want to go to Hello Yam again, but it seems quite overpriced for what you get.

THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD??? Reminds me of Japan. Small storefront, super nice staff. STUPIDLY GOOD FOOD? Want to gatekeep this so bad. The savory and sweet combination with the yams is something else. The cereal bits at the bottom of the parfait are so good with the yam montblanc, yam bits, and ice cream. Creme brulee yam is also delicious, but prefer the parfait. Come here but don't come when I'm coming!

I absolutely love Japanese sweet potato so I was happy to find this new place that seems to have recently open. The menu is small which is good, the silky parfait purple was perfect I could just eat it all day! Service was a bit slow but hopefully they move into New York speeds soon. And they had a decent amount of seating but otherwise you can enjoy the food in Tompkins Square park. Would recommend to all!

Wow little crème brûlée action. Kinda wish the yam was hotter and it's pretty pricy. But fun to try.

This is the menu the purple parfait is the best

I've never tried a Japanese cheesecake before and was extremely excited to be able to pick up some treats for my coworkers as well as my partner's birthday cake from Keki. Ordering is fairly straightforward and done with a simple machine outfront. Once your order is ready one of the staff members hands it to you through a window; there is no inside area accessible to customers but our food came quickly and we took it back to the office. The cheesecake was fantastic. I read a bit about the background of the shop online and how the owner really cares about using high-quality ingredients, specifically dairy. It was justas described, light and bouncy. I enjoyed how it was not overly sweet and found that it was all too easy to devour the entire cake over the course of two days. Despite it not having much weight to it, it traveled surprisingly well as I took it home on my three train commute! Similar to what others have said, the real highlight of the shop, in my opinion, are their cream puffs. I'm not sure what I was expecting, but the outer layer was thin yet had a nice little crunch to it. We tried the classic milk, cookies & cream pistachio and ube flavors. Our favorite was the pistachio by far, which had such a unique yet decadent flavor and our second favorite was the milk cream puff. There's not much else I can say other than you really have to go here and try the desserts yourself. If you're a fan of Japanese desserts that are rich yet not too sweet, you'll be a fan of Keki.

And I commonly see the upstairs for private events like baby showers, bridal showers, or birthday parties on social media. After dinner with my friends, I was looking for dessert and I was glad to see this location closes relatively late on a weekday night at 11 pm. Upon walking in, I was greeted by a waiter who led us to one of the purple velvet chair booths that was perfect for two people and another waiter brought us a pitcher of water almost immediately. The menu is on a QR code already on the table and we were given ample of time to decide. My friend and I both already knew what we wanted to order. I got the purple Yam Souffle which takes 25 minutes to make and my friend got the fried squid tails. We also got a signature Rose Green Milk Tea to share. The waitress who took our order has great memory and recalled all of our items without writing it down. She also reminded me that I could adjust the ice and sugar levels of my drink which I had completely forgotten and would have got annoyed if my drink came out 100% sweetness. Another thing is that my drink order frequently comes out wrong at other locations so I was glad she got it right! Green tea instead of black tea and with milk instead of without milk. The purple Yam Souffle is just like the other locations. Hot, soft cakey texture balanced with an ice cold red bean Ice-Cream. So delicious! The squid tails on the other hand was not what we expected. It came out burnt and hard. The outer batter was not crispy either. We informed one of the waiters and he brought it back to inform the kitchen staff. We received a new batch that was not as burnt and had more flavoring this time around. However, the squid was still hard and not like the ones we get from other locations with smaller crispier pieces. Overall, it was still a good experience and I love the decorations at this location! This might be my second favorite location after the Flushing one. Would love to come back for brunch or hi-tea. Or regular food options when I have not already eaten dinner. My usual go-tos are the twister fries, Santa Fe chicken rolls, fried salted crispy chicken, and the trio dessert combo. However, this location has a lot more variety! FYI - there are two unisex restrooms in the rear for customers to use with really cute wallpapers too.

We ordered potted rose milk tea to share, Dubai affogato and Brown Sugar Boba Mille Crêpes Cake. We came on a Friday around 4pm. Originally I wanted to try the strawberry matchamisu, however, was told that it sold out. What a bummer. The rose milk tea came with a themed pot and cups which is really cute. The rose fragrant smelled so good and the milk tea also tasted good and has a hint of rose taste. The cake was good, the boba was well cooked, chewy and flavorful! This time there was an unpleasant experience. At first when the Dubai affogato was served, we did not realize that the amount of the coffee was little until we saw another customer's dish that the volume of their coffee looked significantly more than ours. My friend brought it to the waitress attention but the waitress brushed it off and did not acknowledge our concern. When we finished and were about to leave, the same waitress came over and showed us that the container of the coffee was different and hence the volume of the coffee looked different. At this point, we did not care for it anymore. We would have been fine if the staff acknowledged our concern. We thought that maybe using standardized containers for the coffee would avoid this problem. Other than that, the food and drinks were good.
