This is a review from an online sale. I found the car I wanted online, contacted Heller Motors, and was in return contacted by Jeremy in sales about the car. We texted a bit and then I asked to see the car via FaceTime. Did a walk through and look over on the car, he took it for a test drive and gave his approval, and I purchased the car. The car was shipped to my house at a rate that beat any rate I could find on the web. There was a little damage on the vehicle I found after washing off the road grime and salt(bought in December). Bought our last few vehicles from Hellers. When insurance totaled our car due to hail, they were our first stop. Kyle was the salesman I worked with. I was looking for an suv & one of them in my price range he had my test drive. I did, loved it & put $500 down to hold it until my husband could see it. After money was exchanged Kyle then mentioned that this vehicle was a "buy back" so lemon lawed. I came back with my husband to test drive the vehicle & we asked Kyle to send the title to our credit union to see if we could even get financing on that title. He said he would & our credit union said they would let us know as soon as they heard from hellers on the title. We had the vehicle 45 minutes waiting to hear something. We heard nothing so we went back & Kyle never sent the title. Said to us, "I'm not sure what they need to see it for". Uh, financing. We told Kyle that day they wouldn't finance the vehicle because it was a buy back & I asked about how our $500 would be given back, he said he would send it back right away. Fast forward a month later, the $500 hadn't hit our account yet. We showed up to hellers this morning & asked where the money was. He told us it was weird, NEVER looked to see if they had tried to send the money to us, took my card & had one of the managers put it back in our account. When we mentioned it had been a month, Kyle stated that they tried but it was a "bad card number." I NEVER once received a phone call or a text. He had my phone number. Had blown up my phone multiple times. This felt very intentional considering we didn't work with him. So moral of the story, Kyle is a slime ball & I wouldn't EVER recommend working with him. read more

My buying experience on a late model used F150 was very positive. The vehicle was purchased remotely out of state and included delivery. The day after delivery I noticed white paint overspray on the moonroof and right side windows. The white overspray on my white vehicle is not obvious but can be felt by hand. This oversight by the salesperson is fully understandable I thought. After contacting my local dealer for an estimate, I fully expected Heller Motors would accept responsibility to remedy the solution which would likely cost a few hundred dollars. We purchased a used Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk from Heller Motors. I was out of town and needed to replace the tires. There was no key for the lug nuts that came with the car. When I called Heller Motors, they told me that the lug nuts had been removed prior to giving us the car which was not the case. I had to pay extra to have them removed so they could replace the tires. We contacted Heller Motors and asked them to reimburse us for this cost. They repeatedly lied to us telling us that the lug nuts had been removed when clearly they had not. Really bad customer service - it's the little things that bring customers back. read more

I purchased a 2017 Hyundai accent from these guys, paid for the car but before i was able to take possession they said they had to "fix" a few issues on the car. I was able to drive the car for one month before my car started having issue and my check engine light came on. Turns out they "fixed" my car by replacing the catalytic convertor with one from EBAY! After a year of dealing with these guys they finally told me they would not do anything to make this right, and that my extended warranty that i spend thousands on would also not cover this. I am now on the hook for paying over $1300 dollars to have this replaced with the correct parts. Please if you want to buy a vehicle that is not fixed with EBAY parts do not buy from here! read more

If I could give zero stars I would!! So obviously a whole lot of car dealerships are shady but Heller Motors in Pontiac, IL takes it to a whole new level. This place is a total bait and switch scam shop. I found a Jeep Gladiator on TrueCar that they posted for sale that was slightly discounted because of some reportedly superficial damage incurred during transit. They basically said it couldn't be sold as new because of the reported damage but otherwise it was a new car with only 11 miles on it. They allegedly made all the repairs and put it out on various car selling sites. I made an appointment to travel an hour and half down to Pontiac to see it only to be told on arrival that the salesman Justin I was communicating with online had gotten mysterious ill and wasn't available. Instead I got some young hustler named Eric telling me that the vehicle in question was not immediately present for sale because it was being repaired due to some additional undisclosed suspension issues (on a car with 11 miles...really??). Needless to say they had a whole bunch of other much more expensive options they could show me instead. At this point I'm not convinced the advertised vehicle at the unbeatable price was even real. Buyers beware!! FOLLOW UP RESPONSE: I am not implying anything Martin. I am stating facts. Your vehicle posting on TrueCar shows two images of which neither articulated any ongoing repairs or service needs. On the contrary, Justin sent me the CarFax disclosure showing repairs were completed in October of 2022. I told him I was coming down to see it and he set an appointment with me. At no point in time did he state there was any additional damage or ongoing repairs. I wasted time and gas and all I got was the option to see other vehicles with mileage in the tens of thousands which was a far cry from the 11 miles I was looking at originally. I specifically told Eric if he had another fully loaded Rubicon, with similar mileage, under $50000, that I would be happy to look at it. If the vehicle in question was still under repair then Justin should have mentioned that. SWINDLERS! NEVER BUY FROM THIS DEALER THEY'RE ALL THIEVES AND LIARS! After I bought my 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit, it broke completely down in the middle of the highway. ONLY 6 DAYS UPON RECEIVING! I live in Savannah, Ga, and had the car shipped to me and now they have refused to help nor give me my $12,500 back to me! I have now been in a rental for two weeks costing me so far, $1200. AND, if I even accept it back it will be the end of the month before I get it! Then my rental will have cost $2000! Yes, my Jeep is still under warranty but that isn't the point. They never disclosed it has a Branded Title/Lemon from Carfax! Max ( salesman) lied to me.....I only found out AFTER I wired them the down payment when reading over the paperwork. I am at a loss! While blaming me the whole time saying I knew about it all! LIARS! Heller Motors is the best dealership in Illinois. On 7/8/22 a driver fleeing another accident that he caused hit my Jeep and totaled my car. I started looking on line at used cars and calling dealerships. As you know getting a car right now is very difficult. If it's a good price the mileage is 75,000 or more. I also need to mention that I have challenging credit. As I started calling dealerships I was getting the run around on the Jeeps that I was interested in (I knew I wanted nothing older then a 2018). I was interested in a 2019 Jeep Renegade that I saw online at Heller Motors. I started to talk to Kyle (my salesman) on 8/2/22 about the car. On 8/3/22 he had the price of what the cost would be for me. What he said from the beginning never changed. I bought the car yesterday. No one there made me feel bad about my credit challenge from Kyle to the Keith in Finance. What they cared about most was getting me the Jeep that I wanted and to make sure I was happy. I can't say enough about Kyle. He was the dream car salesman. Heller Motors is a 2 hour drive from my house. Best drive I ever took. read more

I recently had a wonderful experience with Heller Motors in Pontiac! Vehicle shopping can be very stressful and very time consuming. Not at Hellers! I did all the research I could possibly do before I went to Heller. I had been referred by some friends who had good experiences. The sales person is Joe A. who happens to be the son of a friend when we were in high school (back in the day). Joe is very friendly, knowledgeable, and understanding. He truly cares about each and every customer. He was not high pressure at all and really worked for me when we were working on "the numbers." I wasn't pleased with the tires and Joe worked it out to get me a perfect set of tires. The owner of the store is very friendly and down to earth. He washed the truck for me! The meeting with the Finance Office was the quickest I have ever done! The entire process, including test driving two vehicles, took less than 3 hours; I couldn't believe it. Heller Motors has a good inventory of new and pre-owned. The property is well maintained and clean as a whistle. What is really cool is that my companion dog "Lady" is welcome to come in with me. They were all terrific with her too. The dealership is located off I55 and Rt 116 in Pontiac, IL. It is located south of Rt 116 and back off the street a bit. Horrible experience. Every part of the vehicle they've touched in their service department has been riddled with problems. We got the vehicle back with screws coming off and lug nuts loose, a belt slipping in the tires they purchased to replace the once's they ruined. This review pertains to the Service Dept at Heller, not Sales. The last 2 times my car has been in for an oil change at Heller Motors-Pontiac, we have been approached about other service or replacement part needs. I understand and appreciate this information when it is honest and legitimate. However, on a _previous_ oil change visit at Heller, I was told that my brakes we very worn (on the verge of dangerous) and should be replaced and that the cabin filter was dirty and should also be replaced. So, first the brakes -- at a subsequent tire rotation at a different business in Pontiac (we purchased tires from elsewhere in Pontiac), I asked them to check the brake wear and was told the brakes had more than 50% life left. (What?!?!) Then, at our most _recent_ oil change at Heller, no mention of the brakes at all (??). Now, the cabin filter -- I replaced this myself approx 1 week after the _initial_ oil change visit where it was reported as dirty and needing replacement. However, per the service tech at our _recent_ oil change, this needed to be replaced again (Really???). Pretty frustrating that it seems the apparent goal of service here isn't to point out actual needs or concerns, but to upcharge or get add-ons wherever and however possible. As a sidenote, my wife was the one who has taken our vehicle in for service, so imagine my frustration at having to talk her down from her concerns over these exaggerated issues, and really frustrates me that they would try to take advantage of her as well. Regardless, all of this has convinced me that my most recent oil change/service at Heller will be my last. read more

The service department is horrible. Bought 2 new vehicles there and took them for oil changes and 2-3 hours was the average. I started dropping it off in morning and giving them til noon to get it done and it still was not getting done and if it did get done nobody would call to let me know. If updates came up on my husband's jeep they would just start them and not tell him or ask if he had the time or wanted to take the time. He sat for over 3 hours before they came out to tell him what was taking so long. I dropped it off at 7:50 am on a Saturday and when it was almost noon and not done I walked several miles to get there and it still was not done. A basic oil change! Can't get it done in decent amount of time and can't or won't even give a curtesy call to tell you it is finally done. You would think after buying 6 vehicles there they could be a little nicer. Will never go there again and will never buy a vehicle from them again. I am so done. read more

In a nutshell - Hi pressure sales. This review is for the sales department only, not the service department. My wife and I were purchasing two vehicles, a new van and a new economy car. We had looked at several dealerships and had an idea of what we wanted; make, model and price. Each time we went to Heller's (3 in total over a period of a week) we dealt with a nice young man who was new at selling, however the sales manager was determined to force a sale before we left the building, each time, even though the vehicles were not exactly what we wanted. The final straw came on the third day when the sales manager, who said he had to 'oversee' the young salesman (even though we new it was a ploy to push a sale) got clearly frustrated with our refusal to buy and made the comment that because our credit score was high (around 800) we could easily afford the price they were asking. I am sure that the vehicle was priced right, but it was more vehicle than what we wanted and not in our allotted budget. I thought high pressure auto sales was a thing of the past, I guess not. We left with a very bad opinion of this dealership's sales dept. Anyway, we ended up buying two (2) new vehicles from a different dealership in a different town down the road, no high pressure or stress, that respected our wishes, and chose to work within our budget. read more
