This brewery is super cute and worth visiting! They have a large selection of beers and sours and plenty of seating inside and out! There aren't many beer garden, outdoor breweries in the area so this is definitely a good spot! They open everyday if you need an afternoon pick me up!

Pleasantly surprised to find such a hidden gem or a brewery a little away from the main area of la mesa. We came on a Sun night and it wasn't too busy. Lots of indoor and outdoor space. They have one side that focuses on just sours and another that does the more standard beer options. There was only one person working that night so it was a little slower to get drinks but she was helpful and let us try some drinks before getting a glass. I got the deep thinker which is their hazy IPA and it was good. My partner got the king Rufus porter which was a stout.

Friendly. Cool vibe, music is not overbearing and low key~ so nice. Lots of fresh air. They have a food truck most every night. Nice merch. Beer is wonderful. If you like stouts the Trail Shoes is a grat coffee stout.

Great spot with a chill vibe, rotating food trucks, and a solid beer selection - when I get burned out on their IPAs I switch over to their vast sour selection. Live music on Friday and Saturday which always hits the spot. The owner runs a tight ship and it shows--friendly service, clean setup, and good energy all around. Easy place to relax and unwind.

Pleasantly surprised by this hidden gem. It's located in an industrial part of La Mesa and if you're not from the area you'd easily drive by unassumingly. I'm not a beer person but the Mexican lager that I ordered was delicious. I was here for a work happy hour and we entered the weekly trivia night. They have sours as well for those who don't want hoppy drinks. The sours are...and I can't say this enough, SOUR. Tart and lick puckering but flavorful. I did some tasters but ultimately decided to go with a beer. As far as food, it's food trucks only. We had a burger truck the night we attended and it was great. They had a memorable ranch, it tasted homemade. I highly recommend coming here, great ambiance. Open aired patio. Just a nice place to sit on a San Diego evening to enjoy a beer.

Nothin' quite like an ice-cold beer on a beautiful afternoon in La Mesa! Is there anything better to do when you've got an hour to spare? Cheers!

I've been going to Helix on and off for many years, and typically, it's a very relaxing place to grab a great beer. Last night, it was not the beer but the food situation. They have a different food truck there daily, which is cool because it's always different. Last night, I met a colleague for beer and some food. I arrived early to grab a seat inside, and we enjoyed the New Zealand IPA. My entire goal was to eat, and we were both hungry and assumed they'd be open past 7:30 p.m. I hesitated to get us up to go outside because I was losing my spot. In hindsight, I could have put a coaster on my beer (future tip). Here's my gripe: When I walked out, the food truck said we had just filled our last order. If I'm inside, how does anyone know when you're closing? I brought this up to Kylie, who was incredible. She indicated, " Well, they've been here since 2:00 p.m. " This didn't answer how patrons knew when they were closing. Frankly (and I don't own a food truck), if a customer walked up while I was closing, I'd figure out some way to serve them, but let's leave that alone. Still hungry, I closed my tab, and we headed to the Hills and ended up having a great meal. In the end, I spent more time at my second location than I did at Helix. Just a suggestion: Right next to the calendar, put up a quick sign with food hours; then, I don't have to sweat it, and I can enjoy a few more beers.

We had such an amazing experience here! We love sour beers and this place by far has the best selections of sour beers. Pretty extensive too about 15 or so. We came on a Sunday night with our baby and the taco truck was a good choice for small bites. There is plenty of seating indoors and outdoors. There was a local artisan there selling some stuff. The parking at the front seemed limited but I did see a different parking lot across from the building.

We just discovered this cute brewery close to our house and we loved it! They have a nice outdoor area, games and it's pet friendly! The beer was good and reasonably priced. Also, when we went they had a food truck in case you want to grab a bite. We will be back!

Helix is one of my favorite breweries! They have a great space and great selection of beers and sours. Many times there is a food truck out front as they do not serve food. They are pet friendly and have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Service was good, not the best but good enough.

This is our favorite brewery in the San Diego area! It's the only place that we have found where the beer is amazing, great atmosphere and not too crowded. The North Park breweries are too crowded and we have gone away from those. This place does a great job all around. Nice brick buildings in an old industrial park. They have a whole section for sours too!! Staff is super nice and they have a food truck outside a lot too for food.

What was really new for me was how you buy your game and drink credits there. you give your debit/credit card at the register when you check in and you're given a play card in return. At the end of the fun, you trade the play card back in and they give you a total and you check out. It was super easy! Just be careful how much you tap that card! lol We didn't get any food, but we did try a lot of the different drinks! They had a spicy mango margarita, a blackberry mojito, lots of beers and seltzers on tap! The games were so nostalgic and fun! We went in a group of 5 and all enjoyed playing pac-man, beer pong, Halo, and Mario Kart! There's so many we didn't play, like Mortal Kombat and Frogger LOL. I am definitely going back and I recommend it to anyone looking for a chill and fun night out!

The chocolate espresso one is SO good. It's a smaller place, but they did a great job designing it so it never feels crowded or cramped. It's perfect for a double date or a girls' night--especially sitting outside on their bar booth patio where you can relax and actually have good conversations. I've gone for both, and every time has been such a great experience. The staff is always super friendly too. Definitely a go-to spot!

Welcome new decor changes and a removed partition wall provided additional bar area and table seating. The open concept, also pet & family friendly, lets us see the brewing tanks while providing a neat backdrop and unique space for the Trivia Night host. Inside and out on the patio. They have a very nice and large bar top. The place is quite large with an open and airy feel. Definitely cool brewery vibes. The bathroom was really impressive; huge and spotlessly clean. They have a great selection of beers on tap from light to IPA. Stouts, darks - a beer for everybody. Beer only right now. I enjoyed a very tasty Mexican Lager (La Bamba). Becky begrudgingly enjoyed one as well. She no longer drinks beer. She lost nearly 50 pounds by switching to low carb, low calorie seltzers a few years ago. That was our only disappointment, no seltzers. Not even in cans in the cooler. If we ever return, she'll have to bring her own. Sunny Grove does not have a kitchen, but they do host a different food truck or pop-up nearly every day. Check the calendar on their website for details. sunnygrovebeer.com Definitely a cool spot, just wish they'd add a seltzer even if it is canned.

After a quick look around, I took a seat at the bar. The bartender had her back to me; I could see her texting, then switching to Instagram. Bartender: Hello, thanks for waiting. How are you? Me: Thirsty. Bartender: What can I get you? Me: Bourbon and water, please. Bartender: What kind of bourbon? Me: The well is fine, thanks. Bartender: Jack is-- inaudible Bartender: Do you want a double? It's only $3.50 more. Me: No thanks. Bartender: You know, be nice. Me: Hey, I was nice enough to wait while you were on your phone. Bartender: No, you weren't. I slide my drink back to her. Me: You can just give my drink to your friends across the bar.
