    Red pizou seafood

Tonight Amy was our server and she did a great job! For appetizer we had the grav lox and the scallop paella and for appetizer I had the red pizou seafood linguini and the halibut with white wine buerre blanc. The halibut was more buttery than we remember. The seafood paired great with the cote de Rhône!!

Delicious swordfish over risotto was perfect, my favorite was taking the cornbread home for breakfast. Delicious. Great service as usual and a fantastic restaurant.

Our server Micheala was fantastic! We enjoyed my husband's birthday dinner to the fullest. Our food was delicious. The braised short rib was to die for! And don't be afraid of the blue cheese sauce! So good!

As we slowly venture out in the post pandemic world, we were thrilled to have dinner at Hege's this holiday weekend. We were greeted by an inviting host who led us to an inner dining area with comfortable couches on one side. Very cozy and elegant at the same time. Our waitress was outstanding sharing local favorites and helped guide us in our menu choices. Everything we ate was delicious starting with the cornbread which vanished immediately. One standout was the savory cheesecake appetizer - unique layers of flavor with a sour dough crumble crust. Easily could have just eaten this for the whole meal. Definitely start off with this! I was surprised at how filling the vegetable entree platter was and the fish of the day was perfectly cooked. Everyone was happily full with their meals and the overall dining experience. Hope to return next time we are in town. *I noted the extra steps the staff took to ensure people felt safe in the dining setting. A party of 4 was seated near us and they politely asked to be moved further away. They were promptly relocated and the staff proceeded to break down the setting completely and redress the table prior to sitting anyone else down.

    Do you need a reservation?

Yes, they do, or at least the two times we've been there we got reservations. With the crowd, it seems mecessary.

The room is gorgeous, I love how it's divided up, reminded me of Spice Market RIP in NYC. Soaring ceilings, linen napkins, and a nice view of the ocean. Service was fantastic, always topping off the water. They give you a complimentary warm biscuit and big cracker with some pimiento cheese and herb butter. That was so nice and reminded me of old world hospitality. The food was very nice. Cup of she crab soup was fantastic. Generous portion of crab with a tiny kick. Incredible grilled cheese with a home made tomato bisque. And a massive blt that had blue crab in it and a fried green tomato. Very tasty. The bread could have been toasted a little longer but it didn't fall apart. Also came with a side salad which I picked Cesar and it did not dissapoint. One let down was being charged $7 for a glass of iced tea, which sat empty for the last 20 min of the meal and was not refilled. Aside from that it was a really nice lunch in a gorgeous setting.

The fried food however seemed like they used the same batter (and grease) which everything taste the same. It was good but I wish things had a different profile. As someone who is from the south, the macaroni and cheese was a poor example of southern food. However, besides that it was a great experience. Tara made amazing drinks. Great atmosphere and overall a great experience! Would recommend!

We came in on a Friday around 5:45pm and things were already pretty busy. We grabbed 2 seats at the beautiful bar and were immediately greeted by the staff. They have Happy Hour Monday - Saturday from 4-6 so we just made it. The charcuterie inside the repurposed wine bottle is such a fun idea. The meats and cheeses and nuts and crackers were delicious. The serving was quite large for a happy hour app. We started with glasses of prosecco and a chilled red which were on the happy hour menu as well. Melissa was behind the bar and she is AMAZING! Once happy hour was over and we learned there was live music from 7-9 we pretty much decided we were staying all night. Melissa made sure we never felt rushed. Honestly it felt like sitting in a cafe in Europe where enjoying a bottle of wine with friends is supposed to take time and never be quick. She helped us pick a bottle of sparkling rosé and it was very very good. And the price point was so reasonable. They have an extensive wine list and seriously the prices range from $23-$100+ so there's something for everyone. Once the music started we ordered the Sopressata and hot honey flat bread. It was great to share and the flavor was wonderful. It took a little while to come out of the kitchen, but Melissa made sure to check in and let us know. The space itself is so fun. There's a huge bar and a couch with comfortable chairs and tables along the wall. They also offer a small number of patio seats right outside. It got really crowded and reservations were almost a must. Another side note, the bathrooms are so nice. They're clean and well decorated and stocked with everything you could need from feminine products, to mouthwash and more. This spot is seriously a must visit! And I really appreciate their social media and website being up to date with all the specials and events going on. They have live music several nights per week and they also do classes like paint and sip nights. I cannot wait to go back!

This spot used to be…read morea wine bar before it became Charlotte's, so I was surprised to see how an already lovely interior was made even nicer. The seating was comfortable, and there was "lite" live music in the corner; a solo singer with a guitar who played just loud enough to enjoy without killing conversation. There was also a wine tasting going on at the end of the bar, hosted by one of the vendors, which was a fun touch. Unlike the previous wine bar, Charlotte's actually offers food, and we were handed full menus right away. We decided to share a bunch of small plates, assuming they'd be, well, small. We were wrong. The portions were generous, and everything was delicious. Meatballs in marinara with fresh basil and olive oil, a Mediterranean veggie flatbread with feta, and a lovely, light whipped ricotta served with crostini toasts. My only complaint is that there weren't quite enough crostini for the mountain of ricotta we were given. The wine was solid. I went with a still rosé while my friends had reds, and everyone was happy. The door never stopped revolving the whole time we were there, which tells me this place is already a hit. It's exactly what Mount Pleasant needed along that stretch of Coleman Boulevard.

I love how they fire the shrimp at the last minute, so they don't sit in a heated soup for hours on end, becoming rubber bands. Next, I got the scallops with the saffron risotto. Yum! Girlfriend got the a snapper dish on a butter bean medley. She doesn't like Lima beans (which these actually appeared to be), so she ate around them, but she loved the fish! Service - 5 stars Our waiter was a nice gentleman named Tony. He was very friendly and helpful and timely with his service. Did a good job of helping my girlfriend navigate the wine menu (she's quite picky). They've actually got some aged white wines (Sauvignon blancs) that are quite different than what she normally drinks (she likes New Zealand varieties), so he steered her clear of them. Ambiance - 5 stars I found the interior of the place to be very inviting. Tall ceilings and modern architecture. A little on the loud side (we had a family with young kids nearby), but not bad. They actually have sound absorbing panels mounted on the ceiling, so you can tell they've given this element some thought. Finally, our table had a nice view of the kitchen and, as an avid personal chef, I really appreciate that aspect. Only odd thing (to me, at least) was that they sat us at a table right away (we arrived right at 5pm, which was when they opened), but told us that the bar seating was by reservation only. Odd...but maybe be the Kentucky Derby was coming on later that evening? In summary, I highly recommend this place and we will certainly be coming back!
