I honestly don't think I can say enough good things about this place. I made the journey here because of Yelp, and it is easily my favorite restaurant in this area. The Southwestern Burger was amazing. I love the onion rings. Pulled pork Sandwich was very flavorful and on point. Even the Pecan Pie, while kind of small, was VERY tasty. The staff is very kind and will ninja drink refills to you constantly. The establishment is very clean, bug-free, good phone signal, wifi, and great A/C. As I was hiking along, I could smell something wonderful. Something different than the smell of traffic and railroads. It was the wonderful smell of a grill. When I got into town I spotted this place. The smell was calling to me and it was way past lunch time. As I entered, I was greeted with warm smiles and showed to a table where I could take my pack off and relax a bit. I was quickly offered a drink and shown the menu. As a hiker, I am blessed when having anything that is hot and not the same old granola and peanut butter or pasta sides. I asked for a recommendation and the server suggested the Southwest burger. I was a bit weary of ordering it because in the description it said ghost pepper in it. And really spicy things do not go well with long hikes. She assured me that it wasn't as spicy as it sounds so I ordered it. I'm glad I did. It was a good sized burger topped with freshly fried onion straws and pickled jalapeños. A good amount of cheese and the sauce. The bun was warm and very soft as I took my first bite. The flavors were out of town. I was so happy with Kaitlyn's recommendation!! I devoured the entire thing without putting it down once. And to my surprise after finishing the burger, the fries were still hot and crisp. First time diner at Hedgehog Grill-I enjoyed my meal and had really great service. I ordered chicken fried steak which came with mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were the kind of crunchy ones that are more healthy but also had good flavor. The potatoes however didn't have much flavor but the cf steak was delicious! I also ordered a side salad that had great green lettuce and was a step above some of the side salads one ends up with sometimes. They called it the roast beef melt. But it was a French dip and it was VERY good. Soft po' boy bun. The grilled onions, & Chipolte Gouda cheese was a VERY tasty addition to the tender roast beef. I would put this up against the $20 French Dip at Houston's any day...and I would say it was better! I am not a fan of home made potato chips so I asked for fries instead. Tasty little think cut fries. I wish they had decent ketchup on the table - but whatever discount brand they chose wasn't too runny. Wife had the pulled pork. And while it was tasty...my beef sammy won dinner this night! Really nice selection of local craft beers. You can ask for a taste before you plop down $5 for a glass. Get a growler for the table..half gallon of your beer selection for $16. Take the growler home for an extra $6. Check out their mug club...which if I lived there I might join.If you join you get an empty growler, for a month fill it for $12 and receive our special Mugger's 20 oz mug for the price of a pint. every month after, with current membership, receive one FREE growler fill. Price of membership $20 per month. This is the old Sonic building in town. It's been renovated and turned into a very nice little beer joint with some pretty decent food. The HUGE ASS fan in the dining area will make for some terrific summer nights when they get the garage doors open. We were in with a huge group of about 25. So I am not gonna get into the service. It's not fair to hit someone with com plaints with that many people. But they kept up with us all. Got the food out as it was ready and we all left happy and full. Two sammies, 2 REK beers and some basic cheese sticks later, we left for about $40. Was excited to try this restaurant. A good halfway point between Brenham and Houston. First of all, it's kinda awkward to get to. The restaurant is in a weird shaped lot. Walked in, decor was good, service was great! They had decent choices on the menu... good homestyle fare. I ordered a burger and fries, hubbs ordered a fish taco plate, friends ordered mac & cheese, and some kind of jalapeño poppers. Wow... This place is way too overpriced! Especially with regards to portion sizes. Burger was decent ,but everything else was sad. Tough fish, microscopic serving of m&c (around 1/2 cup for approx. $8!) and so-so poppers. We were so disappointed. Good service, good atmosphere, but mediocre food. Maybe y'all will have better luck. read more

CAUTION . Unfortunately for me and my family this was not a good first impression. The owner was great as well as the customer service, except the food. We all got food poisoning... I had the barbeque pulled pork sandwich (you really can't go wrong with it right?) But it felt like the meat went from a CAN right to the bunn and into the microwave then a side of sauce was put in the side. My fries were (or felt) like they had been pre cooked from atleast the day prior and then they were just reheated (along with my sandwich). I eat because I was hungry and it being Waller we don't have that many options. The prices were the least of my problems but now taking in account the quality of the food I'd say it's way overpriced. Well...some problems: 1. Bad organization: I had to get up from my meal twice to get salad dressing for two of our orders. Another time to ask for ketchup. No salt/pepper shakers on the table nor napkins. Lack of forethought on basics made it the opposite of a relaxing meal. 2. Kinda gross: Fly was in my craft beer. The Saint Arnold coaster under the beer was covered in mildew. Some general problem with flies. 3. Climate: Was too warm near the garage door windows. Probably because the structure isn't energy efficient. Probably inevitable. 4. Our waitress: She seemed overworked. She was having to take several To Go orders on the phone despite a couple workers that were near the bar & undertasked. I could understand her forgetting some of our requests. Many of those requests should have been made unnecessary by a few simple organizational changes. She was pleasant. 5. I wouldn't suggest subbing fries for a healthier option like asparagus. Result: 2 pieces. The good: 1. My Southwest burger 2. The queso 3. Gumbo was okay 4. All of the problems are fixable. Food was well above average. read more

The food here in amazing from what I have had. I've ordered previously using the Uber eats app and it worked fine. I ordered a second time and the order just ran and ran stating it was being prepared. I called to figure it out and the owner got on the phone adamant that she was not in contract with Uber eats and that I must have just asked a normal Uber driver to pick up my order. I kindly explained to her that that is not what happened. She didn't want to hear it. I just wanted to inform her of this. This was my first trip to Texas ever, and a coworker had recommended the HedgeHog. The HedgeHog is a converted garage, with simple and clean decor on the inside. I showed up right around 5 or 5:30PM so may have missed the evening crowd, as there was only one other table occupied. I'm perimenopausal so when I note that a place had good air conditioning, that means it's good air conditioning, hot flash proof! I was even sitting next to the west-facing bank of garage door windows! Another reviewer noted problems with flies and mildew--that is absolutely not my experience. I didn't see a single insect in the building (I would have noticed), nor did I come across anything that was mildewed. The menu is fairly simple fare, and if I'd had several days in town, I would have been more adventurous. The waitress was friendly, fast, and offered good suggestions. I went with the bacon cheeseburger, fries and green salad. The green salad is more than just iceberg lettuce, which I always like. The burger was substantial with many pieces of bacon! Great flavor, cooked just right. The fries are the kind that still have some skin on them. One thing that was new for me coming from a different part of the country--the waitress asked which condiments I would like and then explained that they bring the condiments to the table. That's not something that I see where I come from so I definitely appreciated her explaining that. She brought me what I requested, and also offered a house specialty condiment that had some spice to it and was great! I don't know what that was--but be sure to ask for it, because it's awesome! A good place to eat in Waller, Texas. Waller is so out of the way there are very few places to choose from. This is a good option for comfort food. It isn't always great service or great food but it is usually pretty good for the price. The hamburgers seem to be consistently good, unlike the salads and fish plates. The servers are down to earth which helps a lot too. I will definitely eat here again on my lunch break. read more

The hamburgers were really good and we liked the fries. The restaurant was pretty clean. The menu had a great selection. However, the kids menu is too small. My son had to get a grown up $10 burger because there wasn't a kids burger. We were disappointed with the queso appetizer. Overall, the restaurant is pricey. For locals trying to support a restaurant in a small town to stay open that's okay I guess. However we were here at Jellystone camping and came to town to eat. For the money we paid, there are so many places in the Houston area that we would prefer to go to. Overall still glad we tried it. read more
