Staff is genuinely enjoyable to be around, Dr. Wehrle is a very outstanding man with the charity work he does, as well as the outstanding care for his patients in re-assuring them and making them feel comfortable throughout procedures, Dr. Mahmood allowed me to have a choice in the plan for my necessary fillings, and Tracey has done a great job educating me during my cleanings on what I need to do on a preventative level. 10 stars if I could. Beware of where "cost savings" from this place comes from. This dentist shorted us on numbing medication. Had we known that's how we got the discount we would've never put our elderly loved one through the procedure. You would think the Dr. would have the care of the patient top of mind but money saving short cuts and greed seem top priority. I wish I had looked into reviews prior. In November 2021 I was looking for a dentist that worked with my schedule and found HEB close to my home. I knew I needed a deep cleaning as it had been several years since I'd been because of no insurance. I knew the insurance I currently had was crappy. They were nice. Did an exam and X-rays first visit and proceeded to tell me I had severe gum disease but no worries they would help me. Gave me a quote to deep clean and optional laser treatment for $2050 and of course I also need all my fillings replaced and wisdom teeth out. They said the would take $200 off and used the pressure tactic to get $700 that day. A few days later I went back and paid the remainder with a credit card and scheduled another regular cleaning for 4 months. I'm the meanwhile I took out good insurance that pays 100% no wait period and showed up for my cleaning where they proceeded to tell me I had to pay for the cleaning because there's a waiting period. WRONG and that I owed $160 from the first visit that insurance didn't cover and $129 more from the 2nd visit that I paid the quote in full on. Needless to do I was livid. We went back and fourth about 20 minutes and I left. Later I read the reviews and this happens a lot there. BEWARE. Do your research or they will run up your bill. read more

When we went the first time they really impressed us. Then they told us our insurance would cover a procedure that was $800. They filed it twice and the insurance company denied it. I reluctantly paid it in January. A few months later my wife went in and they said that the insurance company had paid after all. They kept the money never sending it back. More concerned with replacing previously filled teeth than obvious new issues. Looking elsewhere. read more

I am really impressed with HEB Dental Excellence. My son had an appointment and I was involved and informed of things. I love the atmosphere. The water fountain outside is very zen like. There is a children's area as well. I love their hours being 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday. (I am not 100% urge about the Saturday hours) I love that also the aspect that I get a follow up email after a visit. Before visits I get a phone call and email as I have requested so I do not forget. The staff was great and very friendly and helpful. i came from a dental office where if I changed my appointments I was given a semi lecture and the people had no understanding of my finances so I am very appreciative of the service I have received at this point. read more

Had a great experience on my first time at HEB dental. They got me an appointment right a away( was in pain). Staff explained everything before the procedure and how much would cost. His assistant is the best, very sweet and know what she was doing. Dr Wehrle has a great sense of humor and did a great job. I have had the best experience at this office. The dentist and entire staff is super knowledgeable and they all make sure you understand the whole process before you make any decisions. I am not a fan of dentists in general as I have horrible anxiety just sitting in the waiting room. This office made me feel completely comfortable and they were all super patient with me. I will be back to finish all the procedures that are needed and I know that I am getting the BEST care. I've been going to HEB dental for the past 4 years and it is worth the drive from Dallas. I use to work close to the office so it was convenient but now living and working in Dallas I make the drive. Dr. Werhle is thorough, friendly and accommodating and you can always count on Tammy being the sunshine of the office and treating you like gold. I had an emergency extraction and they got me in immediately and it was the most pleasant experience I could have ever imagined. This and the staff have kept me coming back. They have an amazing facility that is beautiful and expands to a spa offering an array of services. Highly highly recommend. read more

I will start with the positives first, since this will be a very negative review. First, the office staff was polite, and the office was clean and in a nice location. The front desk staff did email my current dentist (where I went to get a second opinion of Dr. Wehrle's diagnosis) a copy of my X-rays so I did not have to pay for 2 sets for X-rays. That is the end of the positives. I'm 32 and have never had any fillings or dental problems to speak of. My last cleaning before seeing Dr. Wehrle had been 8 months prior and all was good. A hygienist there (at HEB dental) cleaned my mouth and told me I might have one cavity. Dr. Wehrle came in, took a look around my mouth and told me I had 12 cavities. TWELVE CAVITIES. He told me that his technology was better than traditional dentists and that he would use a new air abrasion technology to clean out the decay that was apparently taking over my entire head. He also *kindly* noted that my two front teeth were too big and that he could file them down in office, that day. So sweet. Rather than suggest I get a second or even third opinion, they pushed me to set a day to come in and get this roughly $2000 worth of work done. A second opinion a few days later informed me that I had absolutely no cavities or problems. There were several other things about this office that I did not like, but I've said enough and this review has been negative enough as well. SO, like a previous review said, if you have a ton of money and don't ask any questions, you too can be completely taken advantage of! read more

They have sent me a brochure in the mail for years so I finally called to verify if they participate in my plan and made an appointment. When you get there it appears to be a nice and well run office. They offer you a bottled water and a lady gives you a tour of the place. There are 3 or 4 dentists working there so there is a lot going on around you. Almost like a hair salon. The waterfall outside the window hardly makes up for all of the commotion. I did like the dentist. He took the time to explain my condition and seemed nice. The assistant x rayed the wrong side of my mouth and did not seem very comfortable with what she was doing. After all of that the office lady comes back to the dental chair with an estimate over $2000.00. I was baffled because I had previously given them my insurance information and I was under the impression that they participated in my plan. Well that was not the case. The lady overlooked my insurance and just gave me the total bill without it and then confirmed that they did not participate in my insurance plan. I found the staff to be pretty incompetent. I went in for an emergency visit because the cap on my root canal (from another office) fell out. I had never seen Dr. Wehrle before. He and his staff were very friendly but only because they were trying to sell me on $6,000 worth of (unnecessary) work. When I told them that I had certain circumstances they continued to try and push me into financing and getting "parents to help..." (I'm completely financially independent) I told them there was no way I could afford it and they literally followed me out the door trying to sell to me while the doctor (no longer smiling at me) stood there watching them. It was very uncomfortable, and then I found out that they billed my insurance for my one yearly visit! I would never recommend this office because I feel like their paycheck was put before my oral health. read more

They were happy to offer me a coupon...I have insurance, why would I stay they and pay 100%. What a waste of my day. The front staff did not seem to know what they were doing...their goal was to get me into their office. Well I haven't been there yet, but their customer service over the phone is excellent. Rhonda was so helpful. I have seeking out a dentist for 3 days now because of a horrible tooth ache. No one could get me in until next week. After talking to Rhonda they can get me in within 2 hours. Great service for me. Right now even touching my tooth with my tongue hurts me. read more

My family had exactly the same experience as Todd C. who posted that HEB Dental told them they took his insurance, then turned out they did not. We were told by HEB Dental office staff that HEB Dental participated with our dental plan. HEB Dental even made copies of our insurance cards and related information, so there's no way they could have misunderstood which plan we were under. We proceeded to have considerable dental work done, for which we paid 50% on the spot (our plan covers dental expenses 50/50). When we received our insurance explanation of benefits (Feb, 2012), we learned HEB Dental is *NOT* part of our plan, and the insurance will pay nothing. We are being held responsible for the entire amount. Worse yet, because HEB Dental is not part of our dental insurance plan, the rates we were charged were considerably higher than had we gone to a dentist in our plan. The work that was done was acceptable, but clearly the office staff (and others?) at HEB Dental are either totally ignorant, or intentionally mislead (read "lie to") new patients. Either way, we are now left to pay a rather substantial dental bill. Had HEB Dental staff been honest with us in the first place, we would never had incurred this expense, as we'd have gone to a dentist within our insurance plan. If you consider HEB Dental for your family .. BUYER BEWARE!!! By the way, I tried several times to call and talk with someone in HEB Dental's accounting and billing department about this problem. All I got was a recording asking me to leave my name and number. There was no option for selecting a specific extension to talk with a live person. This was NOT during lunch either. I started calling at 9:45 AM on a weekday, and over the next two hours of trying, never was able to reach a live person -- just their computer. After leaving a voice mail message, someone finally called me back several hours later. I was told they were in a two-hour staff meeting, and turned the phones off. Again, another reason this is NOT the type of dental office I'd like to use. A pleasant personality and free bottle of water does not make up for incompetence and dishonesty in the office staff. The dentist here are wonderful, and the staff is really nice, but I will not be returning. When I first made an appointment they said they accepted my insurance so my husband and I had a ton of work done here- I thought the bill was high but I also knew dental work was expensive too so I didnt question it. About a year after we started going here we went in for our 6 month cleaning and when we checked out she said it would be 7 dollars each and I said no- my insurance covers cleanings at 100 percent and she said that we are not in network and 7 dollars is the difference and I said thats crap - why didnt yall ever tell me that we werent in network and she said because we accept your insurance and file it for you. The dentist himself said that theres only 1 or 2 companies that are in network because insurance companies dont pay whats fair.... this didnt sit well with me and unfortunately we wont be coming back, but if you are in network they really do great work and if you arent in network and want to pay more they are a good option too. read more
