I also think it's suspicious how Yelp blocked my first review on this (04/01/2016)...
While waiting for the doctor, the receptionist said "I'm gonna kill you" when she found out I had given her the number to my health insurance instead of my dental insurance over the phone prior to my arrival. I didn't think much of it at first, but later that visit, the doctor's assistant said "I'm gonna hurt you" while getting me setup IN THE DOCTOR'S PRESENCE.
I commented how he has a very violent office and didn't like their words, and he just laughed and shrugged it off.
Their words were still bothering me the next day, so I very professionally presented my case like an adult and attempted to get some form of understanding from Daniel. Really, I wanted the two associates written up for HR concerns, but he was not receptive.
Instead, he started acting like a child, denied the claims I made, and called me "sad" twice as I was walking out the door in response to my comment "this [situation] is sad..". He basically told me that because he didn't hear it, it didn't happen, so he denied anything was wrong. He also said "if that upsets you, I'm ok with that. I'm really ok. You don't run my office."
Yes... I'm "sad" for bringing a situation to your attention in a professional manner and asking you to handle it like an adult.
I'm "sad" for asking you to take responsibility for your office - like an adult.
You're right - I don't run that office, you do. So if you think you can just step all over your patients and run that business, then let's see how many patients want to be a door mat, after I've left my footprint...
The response I wanted:
- ok, I understand your claims, Mark, and I will do what it takes to make sure this situation is resolved. What can I do to help? (even if I don't believe you)
- I'm sorry this happened (even if I don't believe it did), and I will talk with my associates about making sure we make this a comfortable place for our patients.
^ I wanted some sense of understanding or empathy - I don't even care if it was a fake response, just play the part...
Instead, the result I got was very childish and immature from the doctor. He set a very firm example for his employees: this kind of behaviour was acceptable, and he would defend his associates over having understanding for his patients.
He set a firm example for his patients: If you have a problem with Daniel's practice, or how he runs his office, he doesn't care, he's ok with you being upset, he's ok with his associates mistreating you, and he doesn't care how you feel about that. As a doctor - a health associate, he really does not care what you think or how you feel. This is my first encounter with the paradox known as an "apathetic doctor"... Doctors should be, by nature... empathetic.
This is a hard-learned lesson on HR and customer service. These things are key in business. Anyone who ignores them deserves what they get in terms of lack of business.
