newly opened uk chain heavenly desserts has landed in victoria, bringing its glossy, instagram ready brunch and dessert menu to town. the space is bright and polished, with marble like tables, warm caramel toned chairs, and modern globe lighting that gives it a soft glow in the evening. along the back wall, a peachy feature wall stamped with "heavenly desserts" adds a gentle pop of colour, while rows of tidy two and four tops make it feel spacious and comfortable rather than cramped.
near the entrance, there's a cute photo op corner framed telephone booth with white roses and greenery around a door marked "victoria," complete with little signposts pointing to london and lahore, a nod to the brand's uk roots. it's clearly designed with social media in mind, it's charming without feeling over the top.
the menu leans indulgent: waffles, crepes, croffles, ice cream, milkshakes, and other sweet brunch options that read like a sugar lover's dream.
i went with the pistachio and dark chocolate croffle, essentially a croissant pressed in a waffle maker. flavour wise, it was a classic dubai chocolate combo. the croffle was topped with a generous drizzle of dark chocolate sauce, a scoop of pistachio ice cream slowly melting into the ridges, and a dusting of crushed pistachio for extra nuttiness and texture.
that said, texture is everything with a croffle, and this one didn't quite hit peak crispness. it was pleasant, but i would've liked it pressed a bit harder and left in the waffle iron just a touch longer to really caramelize the exterior and create that deep, golden crunch. the pistachio ice cream was creamy and nutty, pairing well with the bittersweet chocolate, but the base itself could have used more structure to stand up to the toppings.
overall, a stylish new dessert spot in victoria with plenty of options if you're craving something sweet. i'd be curious to try more from the menu next time, maybe one of the fully loaded waffles or a milkshake, to see how the rest of the lineup compares or perhaps wait for the opening of their new location on robson street downtown vancouver. read more
