Be still my beating heart! If Saltchuck was a man, he would be my Prince Charming! I could gush on for hours about the pies, but that would take time away from the actual eating of the pies. They have an ever-changing, wonderful selection of pies that are out of this world. I haven't tried one yet that I didn't like and it's hard to pick a favorite. Being a beef lover, my go-to pies are usually the beef with mushroom and I have never been disappointed. Hot and filled with delectable chucks of tender beef smother in a hearty gravy and swimming alongside delicate slices of mushrooms. Heavenly! The also have the infamous homemade sausage rolls. You can taste the love that goes into the pork! Meat and feta is always good for breakfast, while the pecan butter pies are best to be kept for after consuming all of the other pies. Whenever I get off the plane in Victoria, my first stop is Saltchuck. Whether eaten with a lovely red wine or scrambled eggs in the morning, you will enjoy their fresh and delicious pasties. Note: They are closed on Sundays, so stock up on Saturday!

    French Lentil and Peppercorn Cream

I heard about this place from an Aussie building a house in Parksville. Said they were the best pies he had ever had. And you know what? He wasn't wrong. I had the French Lentil and Peppercorn Cream pie for $6.50. Fair price for fair food. Nice and warm, well cooked, well seasoned. My only thought would he making larger ones (and charging a little more) since one isn't quite enough, but two would be too much. Would definitely come again.

Some true blue kiwi pies here. A sight (and taste) for sore eyes after 1.5 years here in Canada. Amazingly yummy pies and they even stick watties sauce to pour on top!! Would definitely go back again

    Beef Wellington Pie

Got the Beef Wellington Pie for $8.75. A bit pricy for a pie with approximately a 3.5 inch diameter, but they've got pies from $5 upwards depending on the ingredients being used. The Beef Wellington was good and came out nice and warm. It was a less traditional Beef Wellington since the meat was sliced beef rather than a thicker cut, so that caught me by surprise and I'd probably consider renaming it to avoid any confusion. It had some white cheese layering the sliced beef which was nice. The pie pastry itself was the highlight - flakey with a nice tender base. This pie definitely could have used more meat as it was added quite sparingly. Based off my first visit here, I recommend you visit to try a pie for yourself! The flavour profiles are great so despite the pies not having much filling in them, I'll still definitely be back to try the other pies in hopes of finding one that's not only tasty, but also stuffed with protein :)

Saltchuck Pie Co. Many people do take out, but it's also lovely to stay in and dine.

First time here even though it's right in my neighbourhood. Chicken, apricot and Brie my first pie. Fabulous.

Good pies, but only if you haven't tried an authentic aussie pie. Also pies shouldn't be priced so high..it's a pie.

The larger sizes (which pricey) are huge!! Each ice cream (ex. chocolate, vanilla) can be put in a cup, cone, or waffle cone. You can then choose the flavor it gets dipped into. Finally, you can choose if you want the extra toppings for a fee. I personally love the cookies and cream one with vanilla ice cream. Service is fast and everything is visible. It's so fun to see each ice cream get made! There are also other desserts available if you want something to go, or a souvenir. There is free water. Just grab a clean cup and pour it yourself.

Visited on a weekend night and ordered the small dipped cone with dark chocolate, raspberry sauce, and bits. I loved the contrast between the cool, creamy vanilla‑style soft serve coated in a glossy layer of intense dark chocolate that cracked with a satisfying snap. The raspberry sauce added a bright, tangy edge, cutting through sweetness rather than just echoing it. Texture‑wise, the firm shell and small toppings lent some welcome chew against the soft ice cream's smooth melt. The portion was modest (a true small), which made the roughly mid‑to‑high single‑digit price feel slightly steep but still justifiable for a treat. Service was friendly and quick at the counter. The shop's vibe leans casual and family‑friendly. Seating is limited, so this plays best as a grab‑and‑stroll dessert.

Great customer service, Delicious desserts [Victoria BC]…read more I really wanted to try their Crepe Cake but was told that they sold out and won't get them again the following week. Not sure what ingredients they were waiting shipment for. So I chose a Japanese Soufflé Cheesecake next... same thing! Bummer. So hopefully they have the Egg Bubble Waffle and they did! Third time's a charm. We actually came here twice for dessert. The first time we had the Tiramisu Egg Bubble Waffle and then we came back again the next day and had the Chocolate Egg Bubble Waffle. They both look similar. The owners, young couple, were always hard at work and friendly too, especially the husband. They have their small children in the restaurant with them. The desserts were delicious. Hubby and I shared one both times... it was massive. They also have a separate menu for soup, salad, apps... and sushi! They are in the historic Dominion Hotel in Victoria's Old Town (an impressive, 4-story brick building located at the southwest corner of Blanshard and Yates Streets). Interior is pretty too with the fancy chandelier lighting. We found metered street parking. Located across the Cineplex Odeon Victoria Cinemas in Downtown Victoria BC. We got the mango yogurt smoothie, matcha brown sugar pearl milk, and soya cream boba milk tea. I feel like this is the worst tasting boba that I've had. The matcha was low quality, the mango smoothie was powdery, and the soya drink was bland

Even though it was the middle of winter and it was near closing, there was still a good number of people inside buying buns and not all of them seemed to be tourists like us. We ended up getting a number of different items: Custard Ball ($2.99) - We warmed this up in a toaster oven, giving a bit of the crust on the exterior edges of the donut, especially on the top where the powdered sugar turns into an almost crème brulee-like topping. The crumb is very fluffy fried and is filled with a sweetened vanilla custard. (4/5) Ube Custard Ball ($2.99) - This has the same donut dough base as the normal custard ball, but is filled with a dark purple ube cream. It's sweet and earthy, albeit not necessarily the most heavily ube flavored. (4/5) Original Ube Ensaymada ($2.99) - This bun, extremely fluffy and nice to eat, has an interesting spiral pattern construction at least when viewed from the bottom, but it's not apparent inside the bun. The bun is sweet and again there's not too much ube flavor. If it wasn't purple I'm not sure I could identify it as ube in flavor. (4/5) Classic Pandesal ($0.99) - Lightly sweet, great soft texture. It's pandesal, not too much else to say. (4/5) Overall the baked goods Friends & Family Bake sells are pretty good. Most of the items are soft, fluffy and sweet, perfect for breakfast or a dessert.
