This was possibly the best ice cream I've ever had! I spent a day in Victoria when our cruise ship ported here and was looking for a place to get some ice cream. The wharf has a great selection of different food but the line for ice cream was the longest. In the floating shop, they have ice cream, shakes, floats and more. This ice cream stand was almost a daily treat for us during our week's stay in Victoria. It's nice having a choice of both soft serve and hard ice cream. The service was efficient, and the setting on a pier at Fisherman's Wharf is hard to beat. I really enjoyed their hot fudge sundae, but most days we opted for the "Danny", a perfect mix of soft serve in the waffle cone, and a scoop of hard on top. Warm day, great weather, good company, delicious lunch. Ice cream was definitely called for. We had met with friends that we used to work with in Livermore who now live in Washington State. By coincidence, they were getting ready to begin a cruise as we were nearing the end of ours and we both ended up in Victoria at the same time. They both ordered Small Vanilla Soft Serves. My partner got Vanilla in a cup along with a can of Root Beer. I got The Danny, a waffle cone with soft serve on the bottom topped by a large scoop of Espresso Chip Ice Cream. I'm wondering if having the hard ice cream on bottom and the Soft Serve on top might be better or if the combo just doesn't belong together. This ice cream shop is a gem among things in this small touristy area. After taking an extended scenic walk here and not in the mood for anything hot, this place is certainly refreshing (in reality the only place to get dessert). Walking around downtown, we kept seeing people with soft-serve ice cream dipped in chocolate. After pointing us in the right directions, we found this lil' truck. Luckily we ran from the cruise port to Fisherman's Wharf. Jackson's was just closing. Soft serve machines were already shut down for the night. Staff was friendly and the ice cream delish! I'm going to repeat myself from other reviews and say that there is nothing better than eating an ice cream cone on a warm, sunny day. Jackson's is centrally located at the beautiful Fisherman's Wharf. You really can't miss it (and honestly probably won't be able to resist) if you're walking around the wharf. Plenty of flavours, in a cup, cone, or waffle cone (my fave), to choose from. My go to is always strawberry, but when I do occasionally branch outI dabble with some cookies and creme. This is where locals come for ice cream on a regular basis. Their salted caramel is their best seller, and it wasn't hard to see why. The ice cream tasted like browned butter and had ribbons of salted caramel and caramel chocolate cups throughout. The saltiness wasn't overpowering, just enough to cut the sweetness of the caramel. It was warm and sunny and ice cream would have been perfect at that moment. Jackson's dished up soft serve but also carried some of my favourite Island Farms flavours. I noticed that frozen dog treats were on Jackson's menu, so I was able to get a little cup of pup-friendly peanut butter "ice cream" for our dog. Even though it was cold and rainy outside, I could still go for some local ice cream. Jackson's Ice Cream spot is located out on the Fisherman's Wharf on the south side of downtown Victoria. The hours weren't listed anywhere, but this place is definitely closed up when it gets dark in the fall time. There is plenty of parking up top for people visiting the wharf and seating really close by to enjoy your food. Jackson only serves quality Island Farms ice cream and they have two freezer cases full of flavors. Along with scooped ice cream they also serve soft serve and slushy type drinks. For two scoops in a cup it was about 5 CAD, which is a pretty damn good deal. The scoops of ice cream here are pretty generous too. I'm kind of astounded this place doesn't have more reviews. The ice cream is excellent. The people working there were nice. The Fisherman's Wharf area is very cool - there's some places to eat, floating houses, commercial boats. There's a very kid friendly park that shares the parking lot. We actually ate there twice in a three day trip to Victoria - the second time because we took the ferry to Port Angeles and were early and realized that we might as well hang out at the park and then get some ice cream on the way out. I had to try the ice cream on the wharf while we were in town. It seemed like a cool experience. The ice cream shop is floating in the water and you stand on the dock to order and then can sit on picnic tables and enjoy the ocean view.
