We happened to be go here on a whim while we were in the area having lunch. This is a really nice place. The shelves look like they were designed for high end perfume or something. The floors appeared to be wood and kinda matched the shelves. The hot sauces were laid out sparsely and purposefully. It was a very nice elegant way to display the different brands and types of sauces. They carry small hot sauce companies that make small batches at a time. I also believe they said the sauces were all natural. Each week they get new sauces so you will never get tired of just the same old stuff. They have a tasting bar with approximately 25 sauces of all heat levels and flavors. I liked this because you can try it before you buy. Some hot sauces are hit or miss, so this way at least you can pick something that is your heat level and a flavor that you are looking for. The staff is very knowledge about the sauces in their store and can help direct you to that perfect one you have been searching for. Price of the sauce was $10 for the 5 oz bottle of the one I chose. I'm not sure if the price differs with different brands or sizes. I cant wait to go back again and sample some more!! read more

I had to give this place 2 Stars, but I really wanted to give it 5. Your experience is going to be almost solely dependent on the 1 person working the front counter. The first time I went the woman at the front counter was EXTEREMLY nice, inviting, patient, and friendly. She was asking me questions about what hot sauces I liked, and was encouraging me to try lots of samples. Because of her encouragement for sample taking I ended up buying a lot more hot sauces then I planned on and couldn't wait to return in the near future. The second time I visited there was a very cold young woman behind the counter, she did not say hi when you came in and was playing with her phone the whole time. She did not offer for you to sample hot sauces and if you asked it seemed as you were a bother. I can say it was one of the most uncomfortable retail shopping experiences I have ever had and I'm probably going to just order online as opposed to making the trip for an unpleasant experience. My first trip was a 5 stars, second trip was a 0 stars. This really breaks my heart because my first trip was an amazing experience. You can find cheaper prices online instead of rolling the dice for a bad experience. read more

We couldn't resist checking out this cute, trendy little hot sauce emporium based on the punny title. Inside, we were greeted by a very friendly peddler of spice who asked us about our preferences -- heat tolerance, level of down-ness for mustard/vinegar/sweet flavors, etc. She then put together a (free) awesome sampler for us, leting us try sauces to our hearts' content! We ended up with two really fabulous sauces, which, at $10-$12 a pop, are more expensive than your run of the mill tabasco, but are SO delicious and support local small businesses. If you love spicy food, you should at least come here once. They carry some of the most interesting hot sauces, and the sommeliers are friendly and not at all pushy. You can sample as many as you want, with a small paper spoon, and then you can walk around and browse some more. But if you are planning to sample many, it's probably better if you try the mild ones first and then the more spicy ones. I made a mistake of trying Fire Water, made with Carolina reaper, in the middle of my sampling, even though it was just a small drop, I felt that my tongue had pretty much gone numb and my esophagus was burning for 20-30 minutes. Still a lot of fun though. I picked out 2 sauces, Homeboy's Habanero and Culley's kiwi hot sauce, delicious! My husband picked Dirty Dick's, geez, what a name. It has mangoes and pineapples, which are things that he normally doesn't like, but the flavor of the sauce is so rich and nice, he loves it! read more

Heatonist is awesome! Definitely the best birthday I've had! My friend and I had our birthday here with about 12 friends. Noah & Tyler were super great to work with and went above and beyond our expectations for the event. We had the back event space and outdoor patio to ourselves with a ton of crackers, cheese, meats, and beer to pair with our hot sauce. They also made an awesome watermelon dish for dessert paired with a chocolate hot sauce. Throughout the night we were able to sample all the different hot sauces and choose our favorite to bring home. Everyone had a blast and it was a huge success thanks to Noah & Tyler! My brother is a hot sauce collector, so it's fitting I took him here on his most recent trip out. The host was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about her hot sauces. We tried over a dozen different kinds (they have samplers of ALL of their sauces) and finally settled on two favorites.
